Yesssss, Chapter 9 of Razor's Edge has been released!

I love this guys writing style.

Hey, just because you mentioned Razors edge, I wonder if I should read it but Im not sure. Because for example there is a ME1 novelization with Tali romance called "the first human spectre". I was about to read it and it was well written until i figured out that the author used a very "alien" Tali appearance instead of the canon one. Got me the whole story ruined, i quit at once and deleted the file from my ereader. Time wasted.

So I just wanted to know if Razors edge uses canon Tali, doesn't mention facial appearance at all or if it isn't worth reading for me because an alien Tali appears?

Hope you can give me information on this, I don't wanna miss a single good Tali fanfic.

A little part of the Pre-Omega-4-Relay-night:

"The face that looked at him was far more similar to a humans than he would have expected.......................

Her features were more angular than any human, with a small, short nose and high cheek bones. Tali's skin was unblemished and a cool, smooth gray like a storm cloud on the horizon. Almond shaped eyes, irises the purest blue he'd ever seen, drew him in as if they were dancing wisps. It answered that question so many had asked: whether quarian eyes truly glowed. It seemed they didn't, but when the light struck them he could see the faint shimmer of silver. Her pupils were slitted like a cats, contracting in the sudden exposure without her mask on.
...............
A smile appeared on her lips, revealing a pointed set of double canines."

So what will you do ?

It is a very good novelization of ME2 (and now ME3). All the charecters feel...well, in charecter. The added dialoge and small changes all improve the story in my opinion. The build of to Shepard and Tali starting a relationship in the fic is the best I have seen; from the realizations of both charetecters that they have feeling for the other long before they say anything, to both overcoming their doubts, to the problems and setbacks they have to face along the way.

As for Tali's apearence in the fic is not the cannon apearence (was writen before ME3, so it makes sense). However, she is described as very humanlike, with the only big differences from cannon being the skin and hair color.

Posted Image. Pfuh. That was close. Thanks for the information on this. Grey skin and blue Iris ok, but "Slitted pupils" - "pointed set of double canines" ? I really don't need a cat-Tali. I'll definitly not read it. Those small sentences can really ruin a great fanfiction. Thanks again for the warning.

Those aspects of here apearence are only mentioned once...so you could always just skip that paragraph :P

Thanks for this further information. I'll maybe read it when Im running dry on fanfictions some day. But I'd rather edit these lines myself instead of skipping the scene...

Anyway, when it comes to fanfictions - has anybody here ever read the ME series novelization (Tali romance) called "Adamo"? I have it stored on my ereader but haven't read it up to now. Wonder how Talis face is described there-

There is no actual describtion of her features.
Face-Revial to Shepard:

"The first thing Shepard felt was confusion and surprise. It was something he did not expect. But that feeling disappeared in an infinitesimal amount of time. He was looking at her face.
Her face.

This was the first time Shepard had ever seen it. It had the youthful appearance expected of someone her age. Her skin was smooth; it looked very soft and sensitive. She had a very pretty face, but there was nothing particularly extravagant about it. Her eyes looked gentle and loving, but behind them was a hint of sadness; of the difficulty and hardships of her life. But they also had a certain strength and determination to them. Overall, she looked exactly as Shepard imagined. He found her beautiful.

He smiled."

As I recall its not. At least in detail...

Ah, here: "This was the first time Shepard had ever seen it. It had the youthful
appearance expected of someone her age. Her skin was smooth; it looked

Should note that the romance sequence does not follow the game, but it and Razor's Edge are both good reads. IMO.

It is an attempt to assess how important the physical aspect of the talimance is, relative to other people. The idea isn't wierd, but some of the questions are. With dat pounce, how could she possibly regret what she is doing? The idea that there could be physical 'incompatabilities' is silly, tali did her research, dammit. And a good paragon shep would too. The extranet: good for research. And with shep's non-rape smile when she takes her mask off, why would she have fears and doubts? Again, dat pounce. She doesn't seem to have any doubts right there.

And how could she have a 6 month illness that nobody in ME2 or pre-ME3 notices? Doctors know their stuff.

Though I absolutely hate to admit it, your probably right.  I was thinking more of a situation where someone says, "Oh that's great, let's make out!" but then after going through it, they think about it and realize it was a bad idea for them, even though good intent was involved.  Tali probably wouldn't go through that process of thinking with her quarian mind, so maybe that would not apply.

Her illness could also be terminal, similar to Thane.  That's probably what I was thinking of at the time.  Even in ME2, I suppose there was a lot of missing information that really impacted how I thought of Tali.  I was worried about her health quite a bit, which ended up doing nothing but stress myself out.  Fortunately, there really are no consequences in ME3 if you romance her the night before the collector base, the game acts as if you did regardless of your choice.  But, even if there were consequences for removing her suit, I would still love it if she just slept with me that night.  Still would provide a huge morale boost.  There's still plenty of things one can do without having to disassemble Tali's suit...

While the fact she's a Quarian plays a part it has less to do with her 'Quarian' Mind and more to do with her 'Tali' mind. Even among Quarians I'd venture to say she takes the sacrifice at all costs aspect to an extreme. Granted, we don't get to talk too in depth with many other Quarians, but they seem to have at least marginallly more selfish outlooks. So her doubts are more likely to be tied to Shepards doubts. As long as he's secure in the relationship and reminds her of that fact she appears to stay quite solid in her decision. She's less afraid she made a mistake as she is shepard made a mistake.

As far as consequences go, I probably would have let it continue so long as she was sure. Shepard isn't going to baby her and make her decisions for her. If it's something she wants, something she needs, and she's aware of the risks...then you support that decision. But I wouldn't have tried to talk her into it if she was hesitant or scared. I'd have held off and enjoyed the romance without contact.

I whole heartily agree that you shouldn't let this keep you from reading Razor's Edge. It's by far my favorite ME Tali/MShep based fanfic, followed by Adamo. Also shell/spirit and death of heroism fic is pretty good but has a much more alien Tali. (green eyes, crimson quills - actually a good human hair substitute for making her more alien-like which some people want, etc)

Just imagine canon Tali's appearance when you get to those sections. I do like how the RE one did happen to have hair (silver though in this case since written pre-ME3) with Shepard's surprised reaction when he was actually expecting no hair at all when the helmet came off.

Both do great jobs of keeping the characters in-character which is really one of the hardest things for any author to do.

Suit yourself, you're missing out.

I actually loved the face that the author of Razor's Edge gave Tali. Since I read his ME2 and LotSB fics before ME3 was released, his description of her was actually my headcanon for Tali's for awhile. In fact, I'd even go as far as saying that I would have prefered his representation of her to what Bioware actually gave us.

From his description, she looked human but was clearly alien at the same time. I liked that idea.

EDIT: Page needs a Tali

I read Adamo recently, loved it. I don't recall much detail about how Tali looked, besides the obvious silver eyes.

Edit: Currently I'm reading Eye of the Hurricane, which also seems quite good. Auntie Shala'Raan seemed a bit out of character, but amusing nonetheless.

Geth do not intentionally win at games of random chance.

By this I mean, since his mind probably works more on mathematics, random variable may bring him down to everyone's level.

Plus, he's awefully expressive with his... Eyebrows? yes, eyebrows, that is what they now are.

How about "headplates"? =P

It sucks how we were never able to use that poker table in ME3 though. I mean, if Kaidan is dust and bones on Virmire then damn thing isn't used at all! Seems like a waste. Would have loved to have had a poker match against team dextro.

I would have to put my money on Mordin... his math skills would probably make it easy for him to figure out the probability of each senerio :P

Also, there is a very good chance Tali has the worst pokerface ever... in the cards she has might be reflected in her visor.
