Dextros can consume Levo based food, it just does not provide any nutritional value and just passes right on through, allergic reactions are rare, but overly exaggerated by the characters in game. We actually have Dextro-Sugar right now in real life, it is used in most sugar substitutes and sweeteners with most everyone being able to eat it safely. As for alcohol, Tali would probably be able to drink Levo Drinks, but since it's levo Alcohol, she would most likely not even get drunk. With the drink just going straight through her system, barring an Anaphylactic shock (which only happens depending on the food, she won't take one sip and be fine, then go into shock on the next, it's like regular allergies) she could probably drink even the great commander Shepard under the table (Read: With cerberus implants, that's expected to be a LOT of Alcohol) without becoming drunk herself. (Unless the commander swapped her drink with Turian Beer, of course)

Actually as a lifeform that produces dextro amino acids like Tali she would produce levo sugars. Or to put it into context dextro amino acids=levo sugars and levo amino acids=dextro sugars. She would also need to comsume dextro amino acids and levo sugars if her biology is anything like ours because she wouldn't be able to produces every compound she needs to produce energy for the body. As for the alcohol, it is all about what is fermented in Tali's case the item needed fermented would have to be a dextro amino acid and levo sugar based. And she could possibly get drunk due to the alcohol content as alcohol is neither a sugar nor a amino acid it is just the other compounds she would not be able to metabolize. Not sure if having foods that humans eat would actually kill her though maybe because of her immune system but she couldn't survive without dextro amino acids and levo sugars. Hope that helps.

It's okay. I am no biologist (but I am chemist) so I am never 100% on these things but I have been researching the topic of dextro amino acid organisms for a few months to help me with my fanfiction ending. Yet it all came from the internet so take it as you see but it also never hurts to asks these questions if it helps eveyone better understand our favorite Quarian.

Well yeah, that's your normal "real life" biology, but BioWare tweaked that along with some other things to make the universe. However, I do think the Cerberus News Network mentioned pills that allow Levo's to eat dextro food and vice versa.
