As much of a fan as I am of the first "Razor's Edge" fanfic, I can't say I'm enjoying this new series as much unfortunately.... I really don't care for how Shepard developed: reminds me too much of someone with a death wish, a man trying to atone and be a martyr, so he closes everything and everyone that mattered to him completely off (and the Tali/Shepard relationship "break", if you wanna call it that, isn't sitting well with me either).

Just read it now. I enjoyed it, really looking forward to the next chapter.

I feel like i'm the only one not too bothered about Shepard being "sealed off" from everyone else - it's understandable that Shepard would feel the weight of everything and everyone depending on him, and this would naturally effect his behaviour. I'll admit though, that it does seem a bit "much" at times...and that Shepard's purposeful detachment from Tali was pretty irritating. It'll be interesting to see how Tali will manage to break the ice.

The fic itself is only really just getting started, and there's still a lot more to go before it finishes. I eagerly anticipate more.

Thanks.  You're not exactly a lightweight yourself, though, I enjoyed reading the fics you linked in your sig.

The Tali emotional scenes are hardest for me. I feel as if I need to write with a thesaraus next to me because I don't have the adequate words to describe Tali. (But I have yet to publish the intense Tali relationship scenes. I'm still building up to her in a sense.)
I hope that I am not only a non-lightweight, but that the large volume I write about Tali is good, not just a lot of mediocrity. But you have the words and can use them quite well. Tali was fleshed out (and Raan) very well here.
Also, love the use of the rock.

On a Tali dream tangent, I was administered Laughing Gas prior to surgery today. I know LG isn't hallucinogenic but I was more than willing to try.
I thought of Tali while I was breathing in the gas. I thought of her standing next to me holding my arm with one of her hands. While I was getting higher and higher, I tried to impose that hallucination on myself because hallucinating about Tali would be the best way to pass the time. I don't remember much, her masked face obviously, and one more thing. I still felt the imposed feeling of her three fingered hand (does she have a thumb?) on my bicep.

Thank you again. You're doing perfectly fine from where I stand, I never thought to myself "wow, this could use some work" or "this scene was badly done." The fact that I was just enjoying myself the whole way through is the best way for me to tell that it was good.
