I've only done the Tali romance track once. :<
As for the timeline, that's up for interpretation. However I maintain that it's mentioned somewhere they began the operation just before the Reapers appeared in force in the galaxy. The reaper overtures to the geth came shortly afterwards.
And for the last friggin' time, squadmates in this game don't have any dialog for missions they can't be in "legally" unlike in 2. Plus, both Tuchanka and Rannoch are on disc 2.
Of course, but I'm saying that is precisely by design. They didn't create content because they needed to appropriately split the game into two discs for the 360. Tali does have dialogue for a mission or two that is technically inaccessible for her though.
It would break the plot, end of story. You really can't justify doing Rannoch first, because then both Tuchanka and Palaven burn. There is no way around this.
Plus, it gives the added benefit of making sure we don't get too much Tali. The last thing I want is her becoming Wesley Snipes 2.0.
Like Garrus? I didn't think there was too much Garrus but he's available at nearly the beginning of all 3 games.
And I would respectfully disagree about the plot-breaking; one could easily find ways around it because neither the krogan or turians directly impact the part of the story you play. The krogan can't solve every problem, they're just ground troops. They don't have ships, the quarians and geth bring ships. \\o/
My main point is that it would be nice to be able to choose the order like the other games, simply for variety. Right now it's very linear and seems out of place in comparison.
Still it's a moot point now as they went with what they went with.
