Ok, on the subject of Tali pictures..does anyone have a link or know where I can find that copy of the one that the fan redid? They took the original stock photo and redid it - much better than BW did - including the correct placement of her fingers. Anyone seen it? I saw it once, and now I can't find it.

For what it's worth, I tried to find it for you, but googling anything with the words "tali" and "photo" just generates an avalanche of QQing about the stock photo debacle, so I gave up. :/

Here is a link... http://browse.deviantart.com/?order=9&q=tali&offset=72#/d4sysjb

My main problems with his remake is that he got the nostrils wrong (almost nobody realizes that bioware also modified the nose), and I'm unsure about the skin tone. Bioware's image makes her look a bit blue-ish purple-ish. He did a great job on her hand though.

You can tell the nose is different in this picture where someone messed with the color.

That's why I have her nostrils flat in my fanart (and any other time I draw Tali).

[EDIT]

Actually there are several other errors in it. Hmm, this makes me want to make one of my own.

Because you don't know enough people of middle/far eastern descent to easily tell them apart.

And they both have dangly jewelery on their foreheads.

Tali is oddly quite resilient. I rarely see her die and I only play on insanity if that matters at all. Jacob dies more often for me.

So glad that wasn't just me. I never ended up bringing Jacob along on missions because, even after I maxed out his stats or skills or whatever, he still was getting knocked out by a light breeze.

@MrBlazenGlazen above - we call that 'plot armor.' :P

Yes. It's plot armor. But on the other hand, I don't think a lot of people here would like to read a story where Tali dies a horrible death while shepard watches or vice versa, right?

Hey, man, this is the internet...I'm sure someone out there would be thrilled to find a story like that.

Actually, I belive that is the plot of a fanfic...only that Tali gets cloned or something....it was kinda wierd.

All pieces of literature and/or other forms of media that involve Tali dying should be tossed onto a pile and burned.

Yeah but...she /really/ looks like princess Jasmine.

If Tali is Princess Jasmine does that mean that....the Illusive man is Jafar, Kei Leng is Iago, and Garrus is the Genie?

I wanted to share this with you all - to have the discussion. See, my wife and I had a discussion last night about Tali's hair. She didn't like the photo, because in addition to the chop job, she didn't think Tali would have so much hair - that the quarian race as a whole would be rather hairless, from living inside of suits for so long.

My viewpoint was that since the animals on Rannoch were the ones that spread the pollen (even Tali mentions this) hair seemed like the best way to do it. The pollen gets caught on hair, and spread as the quarian would move around the world. I even said it might be that the quarians are actually hairier than the picture suggests, though I doubted it. My theory was simple. Tali, when we meet her in the game, is essentially a maiden. She's on her pilgrimage, is this kind of shy, nervous girl who has somehow stepped into a lot more than she bargained for with the information on Saren and the geth. By romancing her, encouraging her, she blossoms into this amazing woman...who still views herself as a girl, pretending to be something more. (It's in the dialogue when you first encounter her in ME3)

So I argued that my wife was correct - that hair underneath the suits was not a common thing at all - that quarians were either bald or had very short hair. Tali, however, was a maiden, and her hair was a vanity - she didn't have a mother around to take her aside and go 'Tali, hair might not be a good idea.' (And Raan might not've until it was too late) Notice the difference in Tali's headgear versus Raan's or Xen's. They're older women - they might've just gotten tired of fussing with it and shaved all or most of it off, while Tali's, which flairs out around a wider collar, is still very much present. She's still young enough and energetic enough to want to mess with the whole thing.

What do you guys think? (Or has this question already been answered?)

Well I think hair would be a Quarian attribute due to ecology, as you said. However living in a suit probably has rubbed it down very fine and light. I also imagine for cleanliness they shave alot of their hair rather than maintain it.

So in my headcanon, Tali has very short hair. No a shaved head, just a bit androgenous.

That said I love long hair and don't care either way.

While the long hair was certainly a surprise (I like women with long hair also!) it's believable enough that their envirosuits would maintain it for them since the suits are one of their biggest engineering feats.

Also, don't forget about all of those tubes that run behind their helms - we just don't see it on quarian women due to their veils. Regarding Tali's veil, it was redesigned to make her stand out more from other quarians as a design decision and I think I read it was actually supposed to represent a more "short hair" type of look that most young women go for versus her longer veil style that she had on her Pilgrimage.

Took a lot longer than I thought. Mostly messing with the color trying to get it right.

Here's another version that I thought was much too purple and also realized the vertical line on her chest shouldn't be there...

Ya, the best fan explanation i have heard for how long hair can work under the suit is that the hair could be drawn back into one of the tubes in the back of the helmet. That way it wouldn't get in the way, and could perhaps be automatically cut when it reaches a certain length.
