On Tali's appearance, I always thought she had purplish skin just because her suit gave that vibe and I liked the idea a lot. Everything about her was purple so I made the leap and thought her skin would be purple. I held onto that thought until I Bioware verified Tali's canon appearance. I didn't mind much that Tali doesn't look alien either. Most aliens in scyfy stories are human-like so the audience could relate to them and for Tali that was fine by me. Her canon appearance is great, just not it's presentation due to its lack of details.

It's up to the new generation of Talimancers and until recently the Silent Talimancer Majority to keep her presence on Bioware forums going since it appears the private rooms require an invitation without instructions on how to obtain one. I've only been here for a couple of months and I'm still loving it.
Now, now, we've already had pity parties complaining about the loss of the old timers. Let us just continue to celebrate Tali.

Ya, from what i can tell very few of
the "old-school" Talimancers come around here anymore, most seem to have
moved on to other sites and such.

I believe most of them occupy the 'Clan Z' group that I also occasionally lurk. The Tali Zorah Foundation forums also still see some activity. I maintain a thread there for Requiem, for example. But all in all its natural for people to move on.

And alot of the "newer" Talimancers hang out on a chat-site called the Tali Room... alot of whome don't come on here very often now

Didn't realize there were multiple generations of Talimancers at this point.

I personally don't have a huge problem with Tali's canon appearance. Admittedly it was poorly presented and strongly lacking in creativity on Bioware's part after spending three entire games leading up to it, but a very human appearance was always supported by the information already available.

I agree with this. Lack of creativity put me off, but I knew from the get-go that quarians were very similar in appearance to humans. As for what I thought of skin-tone, I think the lack of sun for 300(?) years would make them as pale as ghosts at this point.
What I really find disappointing however is that even with the Photoshoped image, Bioware made no effort into making a separate model for Tali for the romance scene.

The lack of sun would not transfer along generations similar to a Lamarckian view of evoluton. I'm certain that the lack of Rannoch sunlight woulc affect their skin colour for each individual quarian but not in a very dramatic way. For instance, cacausian people who do not receive sunlight remain white, but black skinned (is there a word for that?) people who don't receive sunlight don't suddenly (evolutianarily speaking) turn white over the course of their life time.

Edit: And yes, there are generations of Talimancers. I'd imagine that they are segmented by which point in time (game wise) they made themselves known. I was referring more to generations of Forum active Talimancers, nothing more than that really.

Hey, um. Does anyone want to beta read a chapter I'm about to finish? My current beta reader is missing, the one who volunteered to be a beta reader disappeared, and another person who volunteered said he won't be able to look at it until this weekend.

That is definitely New Vegas. I'm not sure Tali could play a violin with only 2 fingers, though...

Is there a mod/skin of Tali in New Vegas?? I would totally reinstall the game JUST to play with that.

BlazenGlazen, if you'd like you can PM me your draft, and I can take a look at it. Don't know how much use I'll be, as I've never done beta reading for anyone before.

Sorry, I recruited my current batch of beta readers specifically because I am an awful, awful editor. Like, disasterously bad.

Well, I can tell you the specific problems I am having in general.

Grammar is sort of off.

My story is sort of written as a script, so I need better wording.

I don't have a good feel for anyone else other than Garrus and Tali, so I wouldn't know how exactly they would act in certain situations. (Dialogue issue)

You seem to be pretty good at pretty much most of the stuff I listed above. I'll send you a pm and a beta reader invite via ff.net. Thank you!

I asked this question a long time ago in the Tali Room, but realized I have never discussed it here. What are your guys' views on the EC?

For me, I liked it. It didn't fix all of my problems with the ending (the existence of Starbrat, Synthesis as a ending, Geth killed in destroy) it did fix alot of the plotholes and made the ending far more hopeful then the original. Not to mention I liked how in the destroy ending is showed that Tali does not think Shepard is dead, and that a reunion between her and Shepard is likely going to happen.

It doesn't fix ****** poor writing that led up to an ending that can be summed up as 'Deus Ex with the serial numbers filed off', it just makes the hamfisted endings a little less bleak and convey some sense of closure.

So long as Tali and Shepard live on to start their adopted/surrogate family together. And have yearly trips to fight Pirates and such with Uncle Garrus and his family.

After going through Deus Ex: HR, I can safely agree that yes, they are very similar.
They added a nice touching moment with your LI at the final push, which was alright.
The endings were still more or less the same as before. Sure clarification was delivered (why Joker and the team seemingly abandoned Shepard), but did the endings remove the three colors? No. Did it remove Cosmic Kid? No. Granted, I didn't expect them to, but as Tairis said, it was poor writing, since even with EC's investigation options, you couldn't argue Glowy Boy's hollow argument about how "all synthetic life will kill all organic life", nor could you argue the flaws in his logic (you built synthetics to kill organics so that organics won't get killed by synthetics?)
