^^ Razor's Edge was the first fanfic I ever read. Before then I was kinda "meh" about fanfics, I honestly didn't think they were my cup of tea. I'm so glad I gave Razor's Edge a chance though. I started reading it at about 11 at night and was so hooked that I stayed up until almost 5 in the morning to finish it =] Was completely exhausted, but it was totally worth it.

So yeah, anyone who hasn't, go read it.

Almost exactly the same thing here...I use to think Fanfics were all badly written, sefl-insert, non-canon-pairing messes...thankfully Razor's Edge proved me wrong. Heck,  I am now writing a fanfic of my own.:P

Hahaha, yeah that's exactly what I thought of them pre-RE as well =] And yeah, I know you're writing one, i'm one of the people reading it =] and i'm really liking it so far, so don't you dare stop writing! =P

I was thinking of writing one myself, but I keep putting it off...mostly due to a mix of lazyness and lack of faith in my own writing skills =P

I used to think that I'd have no chance in hell when it comes to writing my own fanfiction and writing it good. And some days while I write I still think that. "You are your worst critic" and whatnot :\\.

You're doing good Blazen, keep it up. I'm ways eager to see what you write next. Plus if it gives an extra boost of confidense, i'm really picky about fanfics and yours doesn't ****** me off....or depress me.

Thank you man. That's something I really do appreciate. It's kind of hard to keep going without at least one person to tell you to keep going.

On lighter news, I'm almost done with my current chapter. Just one more segment that may or may not be brief. Should be up by tomorrow after I'm done with school.

I see y'all talk about fanfiction a lot. Several months back, I was trying to write my own ending, but I've since given up on it. It's not that I lack the creativity. It's just... the original ending took so much out of me. I feel kinda dead inside when I try to think of that part of the game.

And what do you know, a new chapter of "Family Doesn't End With Blood" just showed up (lot of good Tali moments in this one): http://www.fanfictio...-End-With-Blood

Sorry if this was already posted.
I never thought about looking at the actual model for the stock photo Bioware used for Tali, but I just did.

Image IPB

That's not too shabby, I say. Hammasa Kohistani, Miss England 2005. I did not mind that they used her photo, but... it's still just a photo. If they had used her face for an actual cutscene, even for 3 seconds, it would be great.

I've honestly been through so much in the past several months (ending fiasco) to really care about what they did with tali's face anymore. At the very least, at least they made an actual photo of a quarian woman's face in the EC (when the geth are alive).

The whole picture situation never bothered me. I only wished Tali had a face rendered in-game.

Didn't bother me either, however, as someone who works with Photoshop, I only wished they'd spent more time making the overall picture look correct. (less lense flare, hand, outfit, background)

Blasphemy. Exxagerated lens flare is a vital recipe in everything Mass Effect.

It didn't leave me untouched, but I don't belong to the raging mob neither.

I think the majority of that mob was mad because Tali looked too human, and they put that fishy looking Tali pic up.

Quarians look extremely similar to us humans, its even in the codex. I don't get why people try and head-canon Tali's face away.

I was mad because it was photoshopped picutre.

I think a lot of the rage over Tali's face was, in large part, because it was kind of the 'straw that broke the camel's back' - all of BioWare's bad or disagreeable decisions with ME3 piled up, and then we get a Photoshopped stock image for Tali's face.

The face itself I really don't have any issue with. It's the laziness behind it that irks me.

The girl looks great, I think. If they modeled her face for a cutscene, even for a split second, it would be fine. In that scene after Rannoch, it would be perfect. I don't get that photo.

Hey Tali fans, came in here to interject on the current discussion. The tragedy of the situation here, is that Tali is a very popular character in the series, yet was given the least amount of thought when it came down to one of the most requested things from the series.

If anyone is interested in a fix, there is a lovely mod available which replaces the photo with a better one. It's still the same photo; just better photo-shopped.

I thought it was the right decision to not render it in-game, personally. Using a photo, with no direct way to get a great look at it, allows them to make the most perfectly-shaped picture from the perfect angle, while blurring the vision enough to ensure that if it DOES have flaws, they are far less obvious.

I saw angles of Miranda in ME2 that looked horrible. Absolutely horrible, despite the fact that overall she was made very attractive.

The person they used is beautiful, a stunning woman, really. Using her as a base was fine too. It just came down to comparing the love and work they put into developing the character as a whole to the total effort involved in googling a picture, cutting off 2 fingers, and *lens flare!* But we all know that part already.

Edit: I just want to note that I didn't mean to imply Tali should have been a flawlessly gorgeous character when I wrote that first paragraph, necessarily. Only that they could have had any possible face in mind and presented in a way that did not differ from that vision in any way by using the method they went with.

Am I the only one here who didn't want Tali's face to be revealed? That was one of the things I loved about her. That little bit of mystery.

If those who developed the character had a true vision and real inspiration for her appearance, I would have loved for it to be a part of the trilogy's finale.

But if there was any disagreement or it was being forced into the game just to be there, I'd have much preferred her to stay masked, and I would have been more than happy. Was a gamble they didn't HAVE to take.
