Just curious to those who played an alternative Femshep run, where you surprised that Tali and Garrus hooked up? I'm saying Femshep as the majority here are Broshep but if you play alternative runs you've seen this. Personally I thought it was sweet, I was really surprised at first but I was thrilled for them both. I primarily play Femshep and both Tali and Garrus are trusted friends to my Shep.
On my femshep run I think its ok, but it still felt somewhat odd and kinda forced. I always saw Garrus and Tali as being just friends or like siblings. I mean it wasnt making me ultra rage or anything, just felt out of place to me personally.
Yeah I get where you're coming from, some on the BSN think Kal' Reeger/Tali would have been a more compatible pairing until Bioware decided to kill em off! Grr I loved that guy:crying:

The problem is, Tali is supposed to be an alien. I don't think she should have a human face at all. Perhaps humanoid, but the in-game photo they provide, she looks human. It's stupid enough that the Asari look like blue humans with prothetics.Ezlo86 wrote...

The face itself I really don't have any issue with. It's the laziness behind it that irks me.
The girl looks great, I think. If they modeled her face for a cutscene, even for a split second, it would be fine. In that scene after Rannoch, it would be perfect. I don't get that photo.
I was looking forward to seeing Tali's face because I thought it would be a great opportunity to be creative and create an alien face that looked really cool. But then I'm sure fans would have ****ed to no end if she didn't look human enough.
Copying Star Trek was not a good move, BioWare.

Yeah Kal didnt deserve an email death. I would have been ok w/ a Tali / Kal pairing if it was done right. It at least had a sort of lead up in ME2 w/ their interactions.

I would have been okay with them not showing her face at all to be perfectly honest. With a character like Tali where everyone has their own thoughts on how she should look, it is incredibly difficult nigh impossible to get something everyone will agree to. They could have still done a whole lot without ever showing her face directly and mostly everyone would be happy enough to headcanon their own face for her in, which is what most are doing anyway.

I'm not sure if you've read the Mass Effect books, but quarians have been known to look very human for a while now.
While I agree that too many sci-fi franchises don't make aliens look 'alien' enough - what would you have the designers do? We can really only imagine life evolving to, or past, our level of advancement with opposable thumbs and the physical traits that would let them dominate their home planets.
The hanar and Leviathan are about as alien as the designs get, and they just resemble squids - so, again, what would you have the designers do, if not make the aliens look like humans with scales or whatever?

Look at the turians or the krogan. They look like aliens. Check out the salarians, they look alien. Alien doesn't mean squid. It just means very different than humans. The quarians shouldn't look like us. What the hell is the point of calling them aliens when all they have is less fingers and some weird legs? It's ridiculous and incredibly lazy design.BrysonC wrote...

There's fan creations that are far better and more original than this. If this was the best they could do, they shouldn't have done it at all.

This is just another example of a very basic truth: they could not hope to please everybody. Your standard of what defines 'very different from human,' for example, is not similar to mine - I don't think adding scales or a big shell on the back is much better than fewer fingers and bent legs. Turians and krogan still have essentially anthropoid structure - two arms and two legs.

The photoshop is bad. Ask anyone with experience with PS and they will tell you the same thing. As for the photo itself, it all depends on whether you wanted Tali to look human. If so, mission accomplished.... more of less.JesseLee202 wrote...

Would you be able to do a better job?Ask anyone with experience with PS and they will tell you the same thing.
I hope you realize that Mass Effect doesn't revolve around Tali. There are other LIs that got a lot worse.
Quarians do look like humans. It has been known for a long time now, before ME3.As for the photo itself, it all depends on whether you wanted Tali to look human. If so, mission accomplished.... more of less.

Wish they had explained why quarian eyes glow.
Does that even need an explanation? I always figured it was just an 'alien' thing, a trait un-human enough to set quarians apart, beyond their legs and fingers.
I understand wanting information, but there comes a point where I think people start paying too much attention to relatively trivial details.
Too many biology courses lol... I want the physical features to have a purpose. How my brain works and why in my version I made their 'glow' due to reflection like a cat or other nocturnal animal.
Well even with the canon Tali this could be possible, as we can't really tell in the picture if they reflect light or actrually glow.

My take on the issue?
I honestly have no problem with the design that BioWare gave Tali (and by default. the quarians) - anyone who didn't think that the quarians were the aliens that most resembled humans in the Mass Effect universe has obviously not been paying attention to Tali's masked face itself all the way back in the first game (seriously, she has always looked incredibly human-like through that visor) or the descriptions of quarians present in the novel "Ascension" (which was written by one of ME's original writers, Drew Karpyshyn).
The problem that I do have with it? (well, aside from the fact that her face isn't rendered in-game)
The photoshop job on the model used for Tali's face was incredibly lazy, sloppy work.... I knew people that were just starting to use PS when I was in college who could've done a more professional job that BioWare did. For me, it's just a real tell-tale sign that BW had absolutely no intention of showing Tali's face in ME3, but then decided to go back at the last minute and quickly added that photo in as a "reward" for fans who romanced her and wanted to see her face.

Interesting, I never knew that there was a description on the novels. Do you remember at all how was it? If it's not too much trouble.

Again, I would argue that the quality of the photoshop editing is not eally the issue, but the fact that it's still just a photo. In the Mass Effect panel at PAX East this year they talked about the picture and it was kinda vague. Patrick Weekes was the guy that wrote Tali's and the quarians storyline through ME2 and 3, and he basically says that they wanted to give Tali the same treatment that Liara, Samara, default Shepard and Miranda had, by giving her a face model. Why was that giving you a still picture, still puzzles me.

I still have to disagree with this. Part of Tali was that we didn't see her face. Even if we saw Tali without a mask, she wasn't going to have it off from then on (I'm pretty sure that would have bothered people too). The picture allowed them perfect control of the image to show the player exactly what BW had in mind, and personally, I liked the picture clip more than any of the romantic scenes at end of the games.
The picture allowed them to show her how they wanted with every last detail extremely finely crafted (I'd argue it's less risky too, did no one else see some of the angles that made Miranda look like a monster in ME2?), and allowed her face to be a cute gesture (as it was never really a part of her character, IMO) rather than truly a part of her.
That all said, while I think the intent was a really good idea, I still dislike the picture.

Rannoch seems to be darker place than Earth, and generally hotter. Quarians evolved as nocturnal hunters with tapetum lucidum, the layer that reflects light back through the retina, improving night vision. (Same thing that makes dog/cat/etc eyes glow in bright light).
So they have better night vision, perhaps at the expensive of visual acuity (Tali does carry a shotgun and not a rifle, after all...) and maybe sensitivity to light (thus the dark visors).
Kinda half-baked, but it made sense enough for me to say 'sure, that works'. Plus, you know, with the Persus Veil to look at on Rannoch, who wouldn't want to be nocturnal there?

Agreed. Besides, Tali's face is not the reason we full in love with the character, its her sweet and adorable personality

So, assuming that it takes a while to get the relays fixed. I wonder how Tali would act when shepard takes her out to see stuff like Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Great wall of china and etc (also assuming that they are mostly intact).
I think Grand Canyon should be intact.
He should definitely take her to the mountains. She spent most of her life in space (just like my Shep) so she would enjoy the view.
And does anyone think Eiffel Tower is still standing?
