No, and that's kind of the reason why some people say that the whole thing came out of nowhere.

As you can't start a romance with either Tali or Garrus in ME 3 (for whatever reason), the romance between them just happens.

Anyway even though a bunch of the guys in here are all totally jealous of the whole Tali/Garrus thing. Seems like Garrus is still their bro. ;p

I dislike him when he isn't romanced but killing him is a bit extreme, I don't do it on my main Shep. I usually just ignore him and let him calibrate all by his lonesome...I've never really noticed any flirting between those two when they are romanced by Shep. Seems more like sibling teasing.

So it's irreversable if you left Tali alone in ME2?

True enough, I guess.  Didn't really think about that one, but as you can re-romance (or initiate a new one) Ashley, Kaidan, or Liara, it does kind of stink that you can't do the same with other characters.

I think that I'd be more pissed if Garrus actually tried to ask me that, especially if I was already with Tali.  Example: Broing it up in Flux or Dark Star on the Citadel (screw Purgatory), and suddenly Garrus asks for my approval or states his intentions of making a move (like Joker with EDI).  If I've already romanced Tali, the paragon option would be to deck him to the floor.

I suppose having another character state their intentions of going after a character you feel attached to would do that as well.  Suppose Kaidan went for Liara, or Jacob came back and said "Miranda and I are together again."  The rage would be felt around the globe!  (like the endings)

I am actually suprised you can't initiate a romance with Tali or Garrus in ME3. I get it with the others, they're just gorified cameos (sad face), but Tali and (especially) garrus are in the game as full-on squadmates.

Just seems weird that their romance content is only available through an import...

^ I'm guessing it was part of the cuts along the way. Although I really miss having some of the ME 2 crew aboard (especially Miranda, Grunt, Zaeed, Staff Sergeant Gardner, and Kasumi). The could have included those characters as well, and while it may have pushed development back a few months, I would not have cared at all. The whole gang would have been GLORIOUS.

Unlike most here I have no problems with Garrus x Tali. In my game if he did shuffle off this mortal coil Shepard would actually be happy if something like that came to pass because it would mean his two closest friends were able to move on.

While I understand your point, I still have a hard time grasping it.  If such a thing did come to pass (unfortunate as it is), then sure.  Tali and Garrus could work, given what they'd been through and done together.  If Shepard was still alive, then NO.

Oh hells yes! Who could refuse being bros with a badass? He is a great guy, to be sure, and he wouldn't even try to take Tali from my Shep because they are tight. But that is how I would react if he tried to step in. He has to be told that Tali is mine. Not his. I would never kill him, but a sparring match might help. Or tracking down that turian female he spoke so highly of back in ME2 so he would be distracted.

Yeah, could have been nice to have a female turian in the game.  Garrus would have been all over that, once again bringing up the "reach and flexibility" conversation.

Precisely.
Garrus is a great guy, he deserves to be happy.
But Shepard deserves to be happy just a bit more so he should get Tali.
(for the record, I don't want to mean to sound like I am calling Tali an object that should be fought over by males, but I can't think of any way to phrase it. In the end, Tali gets to choose and I think we all know she would choose Shep if she romanced him in ME2.)

I nearly always romance Garrus on my femsheps, tali an auto LI no matter the gender im on.

But he will always be a bro no matter what, I can't blame him being drawn to Tali lol I mean Joker is too, he admits that lmao.

Wow this thread has been moving. Anyway the whole Garrus / Tali thing isn't much of an issue for me since locking in with Tali is the obvious solution. I still like Garrus as Shepards buddy. No need to kill him off. Right now I'm playing a renagade femshep who hooked up with Liara in LotSB, Kelly to keep my fish alive, and working on Garrus so he doesn't go after Tali in ME3.

@Tali nar Shephard^ That conversation I'm not sure about. It occasionally popped up (mostly due to those who wished to start arguments for the sake of it), and I believe it occurred in the before time, in the long long ago. There were some great Tali threads before this one, one lasting to more than 10,000 pages. If it's anywhere, it'd be in there, or you can try to google/bing search for it.

Read chapter 4.  Short, but good.  Cliffhanger's everywhere!
