I am still utterly baffled as to how people got Tali to do her super cute toe-bouncing in Shepard's cabin. A bug of some sort that the person who made the .gif used to their advantage?

Mostly because he is generalizing Tali fans as being "creepy". Without providing any actual examples, as far as I've seen.

You need to read what I actually said a bit more carefully.  I've done nothing of the kind.  You want examples, go to any thread on Tali and you'll find a least one or two a page.  I didn't just pull this out of the air.  A precedent has been set, and anyone who denies it exists is full of crap.  I never said "a majority" and you can't find an instance of where I did.

Before you start slamming me - or misrepresenting what I actually said, get your facts straight.

Tali haters gonna hate, but Tali apologists like to cheat.

Nice try, ain't gonna fly.

Well, how about you present any examples. Because it seems that you can't, besides inventing some nebulous "them" or "you'll find them anywhere". Come on, put your money where your mouth is.

Stick around Jake, this thread needs you.

I prefer nice healthy discussions about Tali rather than people sexualising her, describing her 'assets' and posting semi-naked and oversexualised pics of her.

Nothing wrong with a good ol' debate. As long as you specify 'some' of the fanbase as opposed to 'all' of the fanbase.

Of course, that applies to fanbases everywhere.

And love that gif!

Learn to read a bit more carefully.  I don't need to provide examples of something painfully self-evident.

Direct your phony outrage somewhere else, or perhaps you and the other self-righteous crusader up there can form a support group with the sad fellow who would really like to "Keep The Tali Thread for Only True Talifans" - and I can use the other drinking fountains and fast food counters, sho'nuf, suh!  Where all dem quarians at?

It's past tedious, already.

Like I said, nice try.  I've "invented" nothing.

Since most have already agreed that there are in fact Talifans who are pretty much as I've spoken of, I don't need to provide examples of anything.  The consensus is that I am, in fact, not bullsh!tting anyone.  If you want to continually repost the same pointless demand over and over, it's your time.  If you want to drag this out like you're the chief prosecuting assclown on CSI: Tali'Zorah, be my guest.

You will accomplish a big much of nothing.

*Shrug*  Like I said, your time, but as I've promised others, I'm done rebutting this nonsense.

Same.  For all the LI's.

Nothing wrong with a good ol' debate.

Nothing at all.

So I did.

So it does - but it is rather endemic to this particular fanbase.  You will not likely find quite so much consistently concentrated creepiness as you will about everyone's favourite quarian lass, however.  It's damn-near a phenomenon unto itself.

To keep this on topic, I'm voting cat-like eyes for Tali to explain their glow.

Nicely said Tasha.

I prefer that NSFW pictures not be presented in the main forum.  However, this doesn't seem to be case of late.  But using page 267 as an example of Tali fans being creepy... says to me that you haven't been in the Miranda thread, the Kaidan thread or the Garrus character threads of late.  They have all posted pictures like this, but it's always the Talimancers that cop the brunt of peoples judgement here on BSN.

Talimancers appear to be the 90 pound weakling on the BSN beach, where people love to come in and kick sand in their faces for fun.

Frankly I'm over it.

I like Tali, I like her fiesty ways, I like she is tech smart, and I like her adorkable awkwardness.  Her peoples plight is compelling, and I can't wait to see how all is resolved in ME3.

I don't give a flying f*ck what anyone thinks of me and who I choose as a favourite character in a video game, how I chose to appreciate a character is my business, and I'm pleased I can share those views with some like minded fans.

^ What Bugsy said, basically.

I've not bothered to post anything here recently, for myriad reasons, but my two cents about everything.

Jake, I have no problem with healthy debate, and I'm not the sort of person who thinks character threads have some sort of litmus test before you can post. I used to spend a lot of time in the Kaidan thread (you want creepy, check that place out over the past few weeks), and I don't care overmuch for the character. It was a fun place to hang out and discuss things with people. That said, the first post I ever saw from you in this thread was deliberately incendiary, and naturally so were the responses. It's hard to take your claims of "just trying to have a discussion" seriously, considering. I'm more than willing to give you the benefit of the doubt, though. I'd be thrilled to have more people having real conversations here. But civility costs us nothing.

Re: creepy Tali fans. Do they exist? Absolutely. Do they exist on this thread? In spades. But like Bugsy said, many other character threads are filled to capacity with creepiness, too. It's a big part of why I've migrated away from BSN. Why Tali fans are the ones who get the "creepy" label is beyond me.

EDIT: To anyone looking for the next chapter of "Funny Things," it should be up by the end of the week. Sorry for the delay, my brain chose to stop functioning for a bit.

I personally like the sweetness and the awkwardness in Tali's romance dialogue, it goes well with the idea that she's taking a huge leap and venturing into completely new.territory. And yeah, it was funny to see her go from snarky badass to jittery schoolgirl and back again in 22.3 seconds. Now that she's done that though, yes, the dialogue should be more mature. Tali is a lot more than a gushing moeblob; let's get some more development. Show her increasing in confidence, have some banter where they try to embarrass one another in front of Garrus or Joker, play with culture shock and how long term relationships work among quarians, there's no shortage of material.

You know I could swing by here more - I agree

I would actually  like to know more about what happened in the 2 years proir to ME 2 because I feel that those are very  important  events that my have shaped  in ME 2 that are never  talking.  Maybe putting  shepard in the spot he is trying to break some walls cause does want to talk about  what happened.

Hm,
if you mean Scourge King, that guy has case of bad grammar and, well,
seems like a hyper teenager. Yeah, not the greatest example of an
erudite Tali fan, but hardly "creepy".

So, um, no "check and mate". Thanks for playing!

Haha, no. That's not how presenting evidence works. You should try that at court.

I think what is past tedious is you threadcrapping the Tali fan thread
with your disparagement of its members. But since you are one of those
trolls who goes the "Who, me trolling? How dare you say so!" route,
that's to expected. Oh, well, you are right on one account, you are not

Right on the money? We all know exactly how Tali fans are precieved. Its not hard to figure out, nor is it intelligent to say so. I didnt argue that, I argued the reasoning behind it. Tali fans are no worse than any other fans, they just seem worse because theres more of them. Its probability. Math is hard I guess.

I could not have said it better myself. While reading the other character support threads, I've seen pictures of Liara wearing nothing but a thin layer of chocolate, Kaidan standing in the middle of the Normandy combat deck butt naked, Garrus doing unholy things with Saren and Miranda wearing costumes that wouldn't look out of place in a playboy photoshoot. All of these pictures were accompanied by comments of support from their respective fanbases and no one was ever judged as creepy.

Unfortunately, people from these fanbases will often not hesitate to accuse Tali fans in general of creepyness for acting in the same way they have over the same kind of fan art. The irony is so frustrating but worst part is I know that half the people who do it haven't personally seen the things they accuse us of, and are just copying their peers.

Kinda got it backwards there, bub.

He was talking about how the "creepy" fans were the loudest and the ones everyone else see's when they pop into any tali related thread.

To summerize; the creepy talimancers have become, to outsiders, the representitives of the total tali fanbase population.

- Fine.  Once more unto the breach.  Let's all make a mental note that I have been trying to get past this since I've already said my piece on this subject twenty times now, and am not the one who keeps coming back to it, okay? -

"Deliberately incendiary"?  I don't think so - I made a few comments on non-Talifan perceptions of Tali fans I thought relevant to the discussion at the time - I think it was the reaction to it that was more telling than anything. We get a few people who get their panties in a knot - and you will kindly notice that I singled out no one in particular, either in my initial post or since - and they're on this like a dog on a bone.  It's a touchy subject, but all these "I don't care, I'm not one of those" ring a little hollow when people start getting hyper-defensive and won't let it die, even while calling for it to cease!

Dunno if you've noticed this either, but I'm not the one continually coming back to this.  It's starting to look like the reason there's no serious discussion going on in here is because a cadre of whiny little sh!ts won't let them happen. And no, I am not calling you specifially a whiny little sh!t.

It's hard to take your claims of "just trying to have a discussion" seriously, considering. I'm more than willing to give you the benefit of the doubt, though. I'd be thrilled to have more people having real conversations here. But civility costs us nothing.

I am perfectly civil, provided civility comes my way.  I began civil, I am yet civil.  I find it interesting, however, that all the attempts I have made to have a serious discussion after are all overshadowed by this nonsense!

Re: creepy Tali fans. Do they exist? Absolutely. Do they exist on this thread? In spades. But like Bugsy said, many other character threads are filled to capacity with creepiness, too. Type "Talimancer(s)" into Google.  It has spread far beyond the Bioware forums. It's in the Urban Dictionary.  It is it's own meme.  I didn't invent that.  I had no influence over it.  It's a goddamn fact. Even those who have never played the game know what a frigging Talimancer is, and they're not impressed.

That Tali fans do not like it is just too damn bad, because there it is.  This noteriety they did to themselves, and they have no one to blame but themselves.

I'm not bashing anyone, I'm bashing the cult, the ridiculous levels some obsessions can reach.

If your dog craps on the carpet of the conference room and I say, "Hey, looks like your dog crapped on the carpet - maybe you shouldn't let him do that - it's unprofessional," and you counter with an angry, "Hey!  I'm sick and tired of people giving me hell because my dog craps on the carpet and I don't see a need to do anything but lay another carpet down.  You've got some damn nerve, mister!"

Fine and good. You're used to the smell, I get it, but that doesn't mean the rest of us have to like it, or apologize for pointing it out.

Again, let me make this clear, to keep panties unknotted, when I say "you" - unless I single you out by name, I mean 'you" in a general sense, not in a particular one.

Addendum:
So - when exactly are the self-righteous True Believers among you actually gonna start talking about Tali and stop whining about this irrelevancy?  Just curious.

EDIT:  Missed a word and an "ing".

YES!  and Tali - as a character, Mass Effect as a game and the entire fanbase suffers as a result.

Ashley fans did not do this.  Jack fans did not do this.  Samara fans did not do this.

Talifans did.  It is up to Talifans to change that perception.

That was, is, and will continue to be my point.

Bioware announced online co-op for ME3.

ME2 facebook: "We can officially confirm that there will be a multiplayer feature in Mass Effect 3. However, please reserve your appraisal until we are able to give more information. Our Executive Producer Casey Hudson says it best: "Yes, co-op MP missions for ME3: they're real, and they're spectacular. Rest assured it's nothing of what you've feared. More soon..."

Tune in for a special BioWareTV episode at 10AM on Wednesday October 12th to have all your questions answered!"

I wonder what that gonna be like. If it's that 3 man squad though like usual, I'm playing Tali with that geth shotgun.

People fear that multiplayer may take away from the campaign. And many cases it has, but I trust Bioware will implement it well without taking away from the story.

The only experience I have with Bioware multiplayer is playing Neverwinter Nights with friends, which was imperfect but still plenty of fun. I wonder how they will execute it for ME3...

We might get to play as Tali, or another quarian. Who knows?

Really? What was the example given by Capt_Flashheart up there? There shouldn't be any judgement if you don't know for sure, you're acting as some of Miranda/Kaidan/Garrus fans act toward Talimancers, exactly what we're trying to avoid to happen to us, do not put the whole group of furries on it, because not all of them are like they're being depicted, just the same as most Talimancers, and I know that for a fact, because I happen to be a furry too, and you won't see me like that, not saying they do not exist, just that not everyone is like that.

-------------------------------

That aside, hello everyone, I'm DeltaUnknown, just another fan of Tali, looking forward to talk to all of you, hopefully under better circumstances in the future, hopefully the MP subject would help with that, looking forward for Wednesday to know more details.
