Okay, I know this is wildly off-topic, but seeing some of the Tali hatred in threads and the comments about how young she is makes romancing her perverted is completely ****ed.
Statistically speaking, it is seen that relationships where there is a 5-6 year difference between the couple (the guy being the older one) are the ones that best work out--which is the exact difference between shep and Tali (minus the 2 years he was dead, because that doesn't really count)
Anyway, thought I'd just point that out.

The haters say that her age was retconned in ME2 so it's still wrong to date her... :pinched:

I gave up trying to reason with Tali haters.

I don't really get the hatred towards any one character.  I don't really despise any character, although I have noticed that some characters get more attention than others from time to time.  Each character brings something to the table, and I liked how each character in Mass Effect came into life through that.  (Although in ME 3, Jacob really did get the short end of the stick. Image IPB)

I don't recall too much hatred towards Tali until the start of ME 2, when she became possible to romance.  Haters gonna hate.  It's hard to reason with someone who won't listen to reason.

Most of those so called "haters" don't like her simply for the fact that she's a popular character, especially if their favorites got shafted from their perspective, so they look for reasons to further blacken the image. There's very few that actually seem to have legitimate reasons, like Saphra Deden did, but that really depends on your moral code.

There are some characters In ME that I'm not particularly fond of, like Jacob and Liara, but they still add to the overall plot and I think the story would seem less complete without them.

Most of the hate about tali really isn't about tali though. Liara fans and talimancers have that in common. When asked directly, no one can really give any solid reasons for hating either character, because they often don't.

What people don't like about tali is that she always had a loud fanbase that wanted her to be romancable after she wasn't in ME, and when she was in ME2 people went nutballs. Also, tali fans appear to be 'the annoying ones' to the population at large.

With liara, it's tali syndrome x500. She was already romancable, already had the most dialogue, and in the sequel, she gets HER OWN FREAKING DLC. She is also the only one in the series that ALWAYS appears in ME3. People say they hate liara, usually because they hate how liara has been getting massive favoritism throughout the series, not because they hate the character.

I also don't know how you can hate thane. He's just so. . . unhatable. Feel bad for those that 'manced him in ME2 though.

he's a bipedal frog with gill rot who excels at melee and assassination. two things we never use. just hard to put him on any kind of level with any other crew member, much less Tali

I always thought that Thane was hate-proof. Kinda like Samara. There's just something about their character that's very difficult to dislike.

I wouldn't go that far.  Plenty of people didn't like Liara because of the nature of her character in ME3, and neither did I.  I didn't like her monotone voice, the way she waivered between sociopathic killer and gushy Shepard fangirl, or the way she turned from Asari scientist to galactic creep.  What comes to mind is the scene where she starts rattling off Tali's suit download history and mentions NerveStim Pro.  I mean really, that's what she spends her time doing with her resources??  The way she was shoved down our throats in the series only added to it.

Hey, at least Tali's character was consistent and well-acted.

it shouldnt brains, luckily Thane is dead already so we wont have to worry about him in the collab. lol besides, we've already had discussions about our characters that ended like this.
(i think he went full paragon everytime, whilst i mixed it up occasionally)

I used to go full paragon, but some things are just too tempting to pass up.  Rana Thanopsis, the asari in Saren's base, for example.  Used to let her go, but then realized that she was just as much a part of what happened as everyone else.

Characters on the Normandy I'm fine with.  Maybe not Hawthorne, but everyone else is good.  And the best parts are when the paragon actions actually make you appear as more of a badass, like when you chastise the C-Sec officer and the volus in ME 2 for profiling the quarian.  Tali's comments there were gold, as well. Disappointed Tali's combat drone is orange. Very lame. Having trouble even adjusting it with Texmod.

Samara is not hate-proof. She. Sucks. Ass. The only reason I didn't kill her off and replace her with Morinth is because Morinth is even more annoying. And I normally like the silly, self-righteous paladin types.

Then again, I dislike pretty much ever Asari character in the universe besides Aria.

I agree that Samara is not hate-proof. But for me she was very forgettable. I actually played Mass Effect 3 after a two year lay off from the series and I couldn't think of who the Asari that I had on board was. But when I meet Jacob in the game I actually said "Do I know you from somewhere?" because he was forgettable too. Maybe all this was due to the fact the whole time I was searching for dialogue options that asked "Where's Tali?" but never saw anything like that.
