50/50

no matter what they do, they lose...people will go berserk if her face turns out to be not what they expected. People will go berserk if they don't show her face at all. People will go berserk if her face is too alien. People will go berserk if her face is too human.

They can't win

I have a feeling they will and I also have a feeling that she'll just be a Night Elf in Space (which I do not want)

Pretty much. It's a lose-lose situation, if they show her face, people will whine, and if they don't, people will whine. I can live with it either way, and there's certain merits to both approaches.

The only time I will whine about Tali's face is if one of two conditions are met.

1. She is too human. We have enough human aliens in the galaxy as it is, adding to it is just nuts.

2. She becomes a space elf. Goddam space elves. I'm fine with those in some settings but in mass effect? Blech.

Right, so that's why she is so fond of her shotgun. You are forgetting that quarians learn close quarters fighting because it is the most likely form of personal combat they'll encounter aboard a ship or when breaking and entering on pilgrimage. (CRIMINALS!)

Well, shotguns are a 'poke' weapon (at least in the ME universe or if you are tanky/suicidal) where you step out of cover, take the shot, and get right back behind cover.  They also offer at least a fair ammount of range.  The flammer forces the user to spend prolong time out of cover.  Hence why most the the enemies that use them in game are tanky and somewhat suicidal.  For a Quarian (especially Tali) charging an enemy with a flammer is a definite no-no.

The only shotgun with a fair amount of range is the Geth one. The rest just are not effective until close range. I've tried to make them more useful, but shotguns just don't have enough bite, especially against shielded enemies who regenerate.

Same here. Also, maybe not quite as ugly as a Yahg. Shepard went for her after all.

Meh, they'll do okay. Asari look too human to make another race like that. They'll have some distinctive features.

And it looks like there's residue from my time spent Poll Trolling. However, this one is very Tali-related. Vote!

I can't wait for Mac Walters to make a tweet where he expresses disappointment in the game. Wait, that won't happen, now will it?

God forbid he might actually like the game he's spent years working on.

Yeah, I can get behind these conditions. I can't say I'm too worried about them doing either though, given the architecture of Quarian legs. Or at least, I'd hope that they'd just decide to leave the helmet on if they were going to reveal her as a space elf with odd leg structure.

The human and elf conditions tie more into the fact that I know bioware can be creative when it comes to aliens. Just look at the turians.

Oh no, I understand, and I understand what you're getting at. I'm just echoing the sentiment that I think she'll have to look sufficiently non-human either way, otherwise it's just going to look incredibly strange.

Indeed, and while I would prefer something more akin to the turians, I would understand if they went for a more human looking face like the drell considering the placeholder and all. I just don't want them getting lazy with yet another human species, I am already mad at them for all the human bodies.

Well, whatever design choices they make, or choose not to make, it's all good here.

On a lighter note, inb4 the Quarians are actually dinosaurs that fled the earth, and that's why they have digitigrade legs. They're all a highly advanced race of Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Awh. So that's what would have happened if we became mammals from dinosaurs. And our women would all be slender, silvery-eyed and able to crush skulls with their thighs.

*sigh*

I'm jelly.

Naturally. Was there ever any doubt that that was the logical progression of things?

I think a "human" face will be fine as long as the skin tone is interesting and the eyes are weird.

Watch us discover that one side-character of a Quarian is actually the last member of a dying subspecies, Quariannosaurus Veetor. By ME3, he'll have had his finally growth spurt, and stand 27 feet tall with an immune system stronger than a Geth's (lolwut?).

You'll see.

EDIT: Saph, that could be discribing a Space Elf, without the differing ears. Just sayin'.

Screw that, we need to call in the Reegarsaurus Rex. It's our only chance for victory.

Actually, I do believe it's called the (50-foot long) Reegarlodon Shark.

Tali's the one who has them all within Mass Effect-field cages.

I'll only concede this point if we can both agree that he has lasers on his head. No lasers, no shark.

Actually, the Reegarlodon Shark has a rocket launcher on it's head. But the rockets have lasers mounted on them.

That's pretty much the basics judging by the outline of her face. Now it's just down to the "What ifs" like hair and ears.
