I'm the good kind of fan due to my superior grasp of story-telling and characterization. I don't want Mass Effect to just serve my own whims. Thus if it were up to me Mass Effect wouldn't ignore and alienate parts of the player-base by only conforming to the majorities wishes and expectations.

Funnily enough I consider myself someone with a good grasp of story-telling and characterization, too. And I think that what we've seen in the last days looks totally okay and interesting to boot. Some rough edges, but it's a first draft after all. I guess my predilections for the Paragon playstyle influence my perception, though.

I have mixed feelings on that. I don't like the idea of determining a character's sexulaity or behavior based on what the fans want, but it does make for nice screen-shots.
