BioWare aren't petty, vengeful children like some posters here on the BSN.

Meanwhile, the PS3 version will have Tali looking attractive in it.

Tali is as bland and uninteresting as the other games.

Oh, Swift. Silly goose.

<--- Is totally going to get Tali hammered in ME3. And hope for a Joker remark.

What'd be your standard for being sufficiently alien enough?

Something like turians. Oddly enough, the turians are pretty far from human but behave like humans. Hell, the entire universe behaves like humans. Or maybe one of the (early) Star Wars aliens.

For me, so it would work with what we have seen so far, would be something similar to the drell. The drell are literally all but human with lizard textures. They have two eyes, nose, lips, they have what "passes for an ear".... What is different is in the details.

Nothing we have heard or seen discounts an alien looking tali.

I would so like to see quarians have a grey/metallic skin tone, that would be very exotic and it's not "too human". ; )

I think that would satisfy the 'not too human' aspect while still making her look attractive. We already know that quarians don't have human like ears. They do have eyes, eyebrows, a mouth and a nose however. So they are probably more human looking than turians.

A metallic grey/silver skin would fit in with what Grunt said about quarians, and it would make them unique from the other aliens. They did get the balance in there very well with Drell. Also, in the ME1 codex, it mentioned that there were rumours that quarians were actually 'robots.' Of course this isn't true, but I would like it if they looked kind of similar.

As for looking too much like geth, I kind of like the irony of that.

If you look closely at the cover of Ascension, then the quarian on the front can look a bit like a geth with the 'flashlight' as the quarian's 'mouth.'

That would not fit the lore though.

I'd guess the rumors of the quarians being robots is based on them being heavily augmented with cybernetics.

I find that most fanart of Tali looks too human. It's a bit disappointing, just like the old Star Trek (the original 60s TV series, not the movies) 'aliens'.

You did notice in your playthroughs, that ( at the very least ) the upper half of her face basically looks human, right?

That's not really an excuse to make her look life an elf. There are many ways to make her look more alien - scales is one example. That would also stay consistent with Grunt's comment about them not being soft.

^Yeah, that.

I would hate if Quarians become space elves.
Even more if pink.

Tali does mention having "skin", however, so I think scales are probably out of the question.

^Ain't scales essentially skin?

Well, they're generally not referred to as such. And I believe it's also been said that quarians are mammals (or the alien equivalent), so that would also suggest a lack of scales.

Then again, asari seem to have scales. Or at least what looks like scales.

Before anybody goes on a tangent about how Earth animal-kingdoms don't apply to aliens, this is Mass Effect. And in Mass Effect, Bioware has said Krogan are reptilian, Asari are aquatic because they have tentacle-heads, and Salarians are salamanders.

So yeah.

Quarians do appear to be mammals (or equivalent) as they have mammaries (or equivalent), which is what causes breasts in females, though this does not discount the presence of scales; after all, scaled mammals do exist, even on Earth (e.g. the Armadillo)...
BTW, I don't necessarily think Quarians should have scales, I was just making a precisation...
To be honest, I have no precise opinion on how their skin should be "configurated"... :P

Mesina2 wrote...

No... They are technically chitinous plates that grow over the actual skin as a form of protection, sort of like having nail-like thingies growing all over your body... :P
If you've ever seen a skinned fish or reptile, you'll notice the presence of a thin substratum the scales are attached to, that would be the skin proper...

Aye. Because informing somebody of the difference between skin and scales totally equals starting a scientific debate on whether or not the fictional woman you're infatuated with would make you trip out if you drank her sweat.

I've heard so much about this sweat thing. Was it really that bad?
