Didn't think it was possible, but I think I have a new reason to love Tali; that imagery is priceless.

Hah, sorry. The idiot was for Vega, not the Marines. I see no point in having it aboard the Normandy as there were plenty of crew that could have been used.Nashiktal wrote...
I should have clarified, its not the jarhead I had issue with as much as the "idiot" part. Granted the family member I have in mind didn't have a college education but still.
To be technical tali isn't military. She has military training I believe, but she is more the snarky engineer girl downstairs that sometimes comes up to yell and/or flirt with shep.
Wait, so James Vega is a Wing Commander fan?Someone With Mass wrote...

I'm Navy, well, retired Navy. I'll call marines Jarheads any day!
And no. Didn't read any of the script for Vega. New guys do NOT give nicknames to vets. If you're military, you know that.

And I was referring to Vega, not Tali, when I stated giving nicknames. Every Marine I ever meet was actually rather respectful towards others, and always towards their superiors. And any of Shepards team are his surperiors. Um, just don't get them drinking, all bets off then.

That said, it is out of character for him to be giving nicknames to any of the crew. And just plain rude to do it to seasoned vets. That goes for Tali, Garrus, Liara, Ashley or any of the ME2 crew as well. He is not their piers, he has not done what they have. And a newb does not do that in the military, ever.

And hey, I can think of worse associations for Tali than the TCS Concordia's number one fighter tech.
Are you talking about Kelly?Unschuld wrote...
I can somewhat forgive this, seeing as Bioware had an E-5 (I'm speculating that there aren't any "inbetween" ranks shown) hitting on her commanding officer right out of the box.

Isn't everyone on the Normandy SR-2 non-military, considering that Cerberus is not a military organization?

First, let me say I have nothing but respect for the Marines. There has always been sniping back and forth with them and the Navy.

I thought that the most outspoken example of how her character had developed was at Haestrom when her holographic image was speaking to Shepard. I imagine that in ME1, she would have focussed more on seeing Shepard again, and talking about the situation she is in and expressing guilt about how quarians had given their lives for her.
But in ME2, she gets over the initial shock of seeing Shepard (again!) and calmly relays instructions to him/her in order to help the quarians covering her. She doesn't play the part of a damsel in distress, but showed a lot of maturity.

Reading the letter she was writing in the Shadow Broker files actually made me sad.

I've hated the Shadow Broker from the very beginnings of the series. Way too much power to have, especially when you consider that someone as technologically conscious as Tali can notice all of the bugs on the SR-2 but not the one monitoring her suit and omnitool. Sure, in a way it brought a sort of balance to the power of the galaxy's nations, at least until he stupidly tried to make deals with the reapers through the collectors. If Shep can be so DERP at times, yet be able to put all the pieces of that together, something is wrong.
