I don't see what the big deal is. Anyone who knows anything about networking knows that there is no such thing as perfect or impregnable security. The only way for a quarian to not have any risk to security would be to not have their suit have any networking functionality at all, and we already know tali doesn't do that.

Her download logs would be easy enough to get no need for any special explanation, a simple bribe to whatever company is selling or hosting the software is sufficient to gain that knowledge. Add a keylogger to nervestim "pro" (hiding the keylogger under the extra features) and you instantly have a way to find out about the letters she was writing.

Honestly with the resources avaislbe to the shadow broker I wouldn't be surprised if he has small army of white, grey, and black hats creating new hacking methods and ways to defeat them.

An interesting point. I'll admit while I still have my reservations, I have no intimate experience in the programming world enough to discredit the possibility.

Additional notation: Why you would make your life support system able to integrate readily with a wireless network is beyond me. If I was taught anything, wireless connections and communications devices are absolutely retarded if you plan to mitigate the possibility of outsiders hacking into the system.

Oh I have my reservations too. You are correct in assuming quarians have strict security measures, and tali probably would (or should) have noticed any "extra" features in her suit, but usually it is a group or conscious effort to find them. If the broker was targeting tali specifically due to her connection to shep it seems more probable.

Still as mentioned above, the dossiers were probably just intended as a group of facts about our favorite characters.

Oh, I agree that they were for fun, written to bring a smile and more depth to the characters.  I just wish the writers would think before they type.  The letter Tali was trying to write truly showed how hard it was for her.  The communications, her niavety.  But the suit logs?  Do you not think that a quarians suit controls and access would be one of the hardest security measures known to man?

Shadow Broker has the upper hand in everything. There's a high chance that he has quarian agents that help him break the codes into individual suits.

In regards to the other document, I think no matter what is done any certain fanbase will be criticized by other "competing" fanbases, especially the Tali/Dextro group because of our perceived favorable treatment by the developers.

It is not "perceived" in the slightest. The favoritism is very much real, and I consider it a problem. However, ruining the experience of Garrus and Tali by cutting content and/or script-killing them - the two methods most people are calling for - isn't going to solve anything. What BioWare needs to do is to ensure that all former squaddies get content that is worthy and befitting for that specific character, even if they may not be permanent squaddies in ME3. Even if they do this, it's not going to please everyone.

I would expect security on the suit itself and its control mechanisms to be extremely high, because the quarians' lives depend on those suits.

However, the fact that the Shadow Broker has Tali's suit log doesn't mean he compromised her suit. Precisely because the suits are so important, it's not unimaginable that they keep a copy of the suit log somewhere else (synchronized to the cloud, to use 21st century terminology) so that it's accessible if their suit malfunctions and emergency maintenance is needed. If that is the case, the SB only needed to access the copy, or even intercept the upload, rather than access the suit itself.

Similarly, the letter doesn't need to mean the SB has a keylogger on her omitool. Maybe the letter is stored in a format that includes the full undo history of the document, and the SB got its hands on a copy of the stored file? Keep in mind that even Word already has the ability to store an editing history in a document (though not quite at that level of detail), so this is not farfetched.

TL;DR: There are often multiple ways to get certain information, an the Shadow Broker only has to break the weakest link in the chain. Posted Image

Okay kiddies, funs over. How about we all get back on topic.

Although I loved the new, alternate, suit Tali received due to the appearance pack, I found that I use it less as it's missing Tali's signature purple swirls. Anyone else prefer that to the ultra shiny pattern of her new duds?

And please, don't get em started on that HUD on a HUD thing! :P

I don't have the appearance pack since I'm not made of money, but from what I've seen in pictures the purple swirls are indeed preferably. :)

The new pattern is good but, to me, it is not Tali.
What I mean is quarians do not waste resources and replacing a truly serviceable decorative cloth with a another one just screams waste.
Also, Tali has used that same pattern in both ME1 and ME2. Why not keep it as a great many players associate that pattern and color with her. The armored suit itself was enough to change and would fit within the resource views of the quarian race. It was needed for protection against unknown foes.

Why not keep the purple pattern? I think if they had kept it on the alternate appearance, it would have looked too similar to the original suit. Essentially, they were all reskins. The targeting reticle was a nice touch as well, but it really seemed out of place when outside of combat. I'm hoping ME3 brings back alternate armors that are actually differentiated by color, texture AND overall shape. It looks like they've brought back "casual" outfits that the characters wear aboard the Normandy, which is nice.

Maybe they could take cues from the concept art posted a few pages back, though the general shape of her head is pretty iconic. More so than I'd say about the purpleswirl pattern, even if that remained mostly unchanged between the two games.

I like the new suit, but I prefer the signature swirls, too. I wouldn't be adverse to a combination of the two, however.

I was just about to mention what a stupid idea that was.

It works on some characters, like Garrus for example, but for someone who is already wearing a visor... adding another visor just seems... well, redundant and a wee bit ridiculous.

Thread did not die! :)
I for one was out shopping. I know, I know. Actually leaving the house for something as mundane as shopping but somethings just can't wait for the delivery truck.

That's how I saw the HUD in the Visor. Stupid and idiotic.

Also, as soon as I downloaded that appearance pack, I did exactly that. Imposed the old texture ontop of the new. AND got rid of the HUD.
Unfortunately, since rebuilding my system, I have not found it again so am stuck with what BW gave us. Tali still looks damned good in it but it's just true to her.

I still have the texture I did a while ago. I can upload it if you want? It replaces the DLC texture, though I didn't bother trying to get rid of the visor, I just did it for that signature look.

I like the purple, but prefer the armored suit of the alt apperance. the armor seems more fitting for Tali's role as Shep's combat engineer. the HUD is kinda distracting though for the alt appearance so its gotta go.
