Oh, and nobody will miss you if you're not in the multiplayer, so place your whiny comments someplace else.

And everyone will wish you weren't in the multiplayer. So why don't you go troll someone who isn't completely jaded.

That's it; I'm pulling out a pony pic to calm you guys down (it is close to TotP anyway):

It was not a fair fight but the quarians did have numeric and field advantage so, I believe we can use it as a precedent.

The majority of the quarians on the ship would have undoubtedly been civilians and thus useless in a firefight. Also don't forget that Cerberus had Golo with them to provide intel on what kind of resistance to expect. The blueprints for the Idenna would probably be easy to aquire (not counting whatever modifications may have been made for habitation.)

Despite this the quarians did manage to kill the invading force and disable the explosive which would have crippled the Idenna. A tenuous victory, but a victory nonetheless.

Unless you follow Sun Tzu's stratagems and hit them so fast and hard they can't effectively respond. The U.S. military calls it 'Shock and Awe'.

But if I remember it correctly, the purpose of the Cerberus commandos figthing the quarians was to keep them busy while others searched the ship for Gillian, so "Shock and Awe" doesn't apply here.

Multiplayer will be awesome!

How much do you wanna bet that SWM's profile name is gonna be 'Tali mai 3t3rnal WAIFU'?

My finances have been rather tight lately so I'll have to decline. But what I know is, SMW is not going to use the same username as the one on BSN. She's got more 'enemies' than she thinks.

(I hope the above is enough to taunt/trick her into ACTUALLY using Someone With Mass username for multiplayer.)

Ah dang I just vocalized my thoughts again. My bad.

True but the quarian security teams still outnumbered Cerberus two or three to one.

Also don't forget that Cerberus had Golo with them to provide intel on what kind of resistance to expect. The blueprints for the Idenna would probably be easy to aquire (not counting whatever modifications may have been made for habitation.)

Cerberus did get the blueprints but the quarians were more accostumed to it and, like you said, they could have made modifications

Despite this the quarians did manage to kill the invading force and disable the explosive which would have crippled the Idenna. A tenuous victory, but a victory nonetheless.

Due to certain non-quarian factors like two human biotics, one an Alliance vet and the other a super biotic, Cerberus' mission being about rescuing Gillian, not killing quarians and Grayson's betrayal of the organization.

Here's some Tali to make up for starting the MP conversation.
Tali: So I says to Kelly, I says there's no way a drive-core that big can fit into a ship that small. :P

I love it how this place always goes to **** while I'm asleep. JST for the win!
And I'm warning you, if you people don't behave I may have to threaten to join your MP sessions.

And you wouldn't want that, since I suck at this game! Posted Image

I like your honesty. I really do. If you ever ended up in the same MP group as my team, we'll carry you to the end if we have to. Yes you can run around shooting at the wall or put your face in front of the Loki Mech's missile launcher. But we'll finish the mission with you. I promise.

Just because you're honest.

See? Ticktank ain't always nasty!

This argument over immune systems and Quarians dying in battle is so stupendously moronic.

Up until about World War 2 the #1 killer of HUMAN soldiers in war was...

(drumroll)

Disease and infection

Yea, disease and infection. Not bullets. Not bombs.

Oh look, another race of sentients who invented AI before humans developed spaceflight lack advanced medicine to the point that they are incapable of fighting in wars without dying to disease and infection before a bullet finds their skull.

Yea, that makes sense.

Hey, I usually play adventure games. I grew up with Police Quest and Space Quest, and I'm just about the biggest fan of the Myst series you could ever find. My favourite games of all time are Riven and The Longest Journey.

I have no qualms admitting I'm bad at shooters since I never play them. I've never played a third-person shooter or cover-based shooter besides ME, and the most modern shooter of any kind I've played besides ME would probably be Doom (the original), unless you count space shooters in which case it'd be Wing Commander Prophecy (another game series I like but am bad at).

ME wins in terms of story, characters, setting and attention to detail. It's good enough that I'm willing to overlook the fact that I don't much like the gameplay (like I'm willing to overlook Dreamfall's horrible stealth and combat sequences because it has the best story ever seen in a game).

Basically, here I am, brain the size of a planet, and they ask me to shoot at people. </Marvin>

With all the discussion of quarians in multiplayer floating around, I'll probably roll with whatever role suits my group's needs best, but the thought of playing a quarian infiltrator is appealing because I habitually play glass cannons in games. =P

I agree with the ground-pounding Reegar's assessment: protracted battles involving quarians troops en mass would lead to shortages in antibiotics, etc, resulting in disproportionate casualties. With proper supply lines (say, from the help of their allies, given that Shepard is trying to unite various races/militaries to his cause), this would be less of a problem, but they're still more susceptible. Luckily, from a multiplayer viewpoint at least, it's only a few special operatives under direct fire, which may or may not include quarians.

Support specialists that aren't necessarily going to run up into an enemy's face, like infiltrators and engineers, would be valuable assets to a ground team, as Tali has proven in both games (story-wise and gameplay-wise), and quarians appear to have more advanced shield tech (Tali's uber shields from ME1 and the cyclonic barrier Normandy upgrade in ME2, for example) help to make up for the greater hazard they face from suit punctures.

I'm assuming the bulk of the quarian Flotilla population stays on Rannoch provided they manage to reclaim it (I recall one of the talking points during Tali's loyalty mission was that they'd need a place for noncombatants if they were going to war with the geth, and that would hold true for a fight with the Reapers too)- it seems only natural that quarian multiplayer characters would be those who volunteered or were assigned to be with mixed units, rather than staying with the main quarian military forces, already a relatively small number (just going by historical percentages of enlisted versus civilian population in non-military states). So even if these multiplayer-only specialists were to die (thank goodness for Unity/medigel), it probably wouldn't put a significant dent in their breeding population.

Just some thoughts.

*snip*

Police Quest? Really?! Damn, finally found another one who plays that! I remember playing my first games (which were the original Pong and Invasion amongst some of them) on the Apple II, Commodore PET and the Magnavox Odessey. I still have my Odessey lying around somewhere, accumulating dust and waiting to become a priceless relic which I can sell to the museums.

BTW Dilandau, you're pretty much one of the only few likeable Talimancers around here. If you ever decide to jump into Battlefield 3 or ME3's MP, I'll make sure I and my team lead you to victory. I don't care if you're going to just camp at the top of the tower with a sniper rifle and do nothing but be a freekill in BF3, or bumrush the enemy with a sniper rifle in ME3 MP, I'll be there to help you out. Don't worry Dil, Uncle Joe's here to help you get better at your gaming game!

I think you're being too harsh on some of the other "Talimancers", to be honest. Things would be a lot better if people didn't get so confrontational in here.

Personally, I don't see the point in hating a fictional character. And that goes for any character, whether Tali, Miranda, Liara, or whomever. Personally, I think ME has been blessed with a large cast of characters that are all interesting in their own right. Some more so than others, but it's down to personal opinion and not worth starting a fight over.

The only one I "hate" would be Udina (but it's in a "love to hate" kind of way). Posted Image

Wow you were playing Sierra games?! Are you by any chance also familiar with Mass Effect 0, otherwise known as Star Control II?

As for ME3 multiplayer I wouldn't worry. ME's gameplay itself has a very friendly learning curve, and I'm sure multiplayer will be the same, if not easier (since you don't have to control 2 squaddies).

I wouldn't call you a Talimancer. You're a Tali Fan. Just don't squeeze that pillow at night while thinking of Tali, and don't request for moar Tali fan-art, and you'll be fine. Remember to also stay employed, pay your taxes and treat your parents better than Tali.

Basically don't be a person, or someone, with mass.

Or more specifically, all 250 pounds of it.

@Dilandau

I don't actually hate Tali; my indifference towards her is bordering on dislike. However, I dislike the hypocritical, self righteous dickface talimancers that go into every thread saying 'You're just mad Tali is in ME3 and your favorite character isn't HAHA'. Those people are who i'm getting my beef on with, not the good guys like you.

Always remember; just be yourself and don't let the people on this thread influence you! :police:

I've always had one problem with you, Joseph. "The worst and most overrated Bioware character ever." Is not a statement of indifference, bordering on dislike, I feel. It's actually a really extreme statement.
