Wow you were playing Sierra games?! Are you by any chance also familiar with Mass Effect 0, otherwise known as Star Control II?

I know of it, though I've never played it. Like I said, I don't really play shooters. I have played varous space strategy games like Elite and Ascendancy (I loved that game, even though the special skill system made one of the species way overpowered).

As for ME3 multiplayer I wouldn't worry. ME's gameplay itself has a very friendly learning curve, and I'm sure multiplayer will be the same, if not easier (since you don't have to control 2 squaddies).

ME1 has an inverse difficulty curve I find, at least when playing on normal. It's pretty hard to start with, but once you level up enough you can basically forget about cover and just charge in guns (and powers) blazing, a few more difficult missions aside.

I wouldn't call you a Talimancer. You're a Tali Fan.

Talimancer, as far as I understand the term, is just someone who romanced Tali in ME2, which would apply to me. If you're attempting to say I'm not obsessed, you would be correct. However, I don't think the people you are accusing of obsession necessarily are either (I understand there were a few really bad examples before I started visiting BSN, but that's not relevant now). They are just reacting--for better or worse--to the hostile attitudes others in this thread have shown. The fact that some people like to "retaliate" with hatred of other characters doesn't help things either.

Remember to also stay employed

I'm a Ph.D. student, which is just about the opposite of being employed (as Terry Pratchett would say, unemployment isn't the opposite of employment, just the lack of it). Posted Image

TL;DR: Can't we all just get along? Posted Image

Yeah, I'm definitely all for taking back the term "Talimancer" alltogether. It doesn't belong to creepy wierdos, it belongs to true, (semi-)reasonably mature and mentally stable fans. (The true majority, although others on BSN seem to disagree with me on that.) If you are a Talimancer, you are someone whose Mass Effect 2 campaign included the choice of the optional romance with Tali'Zorah, the end.

Or more specifically, all 250 pounds of it.

@Dilandau

I don't actually hate Tali; my indifference towards her is bordering on dislike. However, I dislike the hypocritical, self righteous dickface talimancers that go into every thread saying 'You're just mad Tali is in ME3 and your favorite character isn't HAHA'. Those people are who i'm getting my beef on with, not the good guys like you.

Always remember; just be yourself and don't let the people on this thread influence you! :police:

I like how even when you're being nice to someone you feel the need to insult people. You know, it's saying things like that that leads to people getting angry and then acting negatively, and if you stopped, maybe the people you're so angry with would too. Just a word of advice (with no name-calling in it, you'll notice).

Spoilers for Police Quest follow.

Police Quest 1: Sonny goes undercover (dressed as a pimp; not kidding) to infiltrate a gambling operation at Hotel Delphoria. He comes face to face with drug lord Jessie Bains, aka. the Death Angel. After a firefight in Bains's hotel suite, Bains is arrested and convicted to prison sentence.

Police Quest 2: Bains escapes jail and goes on a vengeance spree to kill anyone involved in his arrest. He kidnaps Marie (Sonny's girlfriend), Sonny goes after him, ending in a showdown in the sewers in which Bains is killed. Sonny and Marie get married.

Police Quest 3: Two thugs attack Marie in the parking lot, putting her in a coma. Sonny investigates the attack, linking it to a drug cult of which Bains's brother is a member. Sonny's partner Morales is also involved with this cult. They assault the cult's hideout, and kill Bains's brother and Morales. Marie awakes from her coma and announces she is pregnant.

PQ4 was written by a different writer and didn't involve Sonny Bonds at all. Instead it follows Detective John Casey tracking down a serial killer who killed his partner. This game gets very graphic and disturbing (it begins with finding the mutilated body of a kid in a dumpster). Posted Image

If only. The term will always be used in the derogative manner sadly.

It is a little funny that it has gained a definition beyond the simplicity of its original meaning: "Tali romancer"

I've always had one problem with you, Joseph. "The worst and most overrated Bioware character ever." Is not a statement of indifference, bordering on dislike, I feel. It's actually a really extreme statement.

I'm just operating on general sentiments here. I honestly don't see why Tali is as popular as she is, really.

Well, maybe the Golden Rule of 'Do unto others as you would do unto yourself' should've been applied in the first place...also, a generous dose of intelligence and discretion helps too.

Yet she is that popular, and I don't see any reason why anyone who doesn't like her would care about the people that do. What is there to be gained from the statement (and link) in your signature other than deliberately inviting conflict with her fans?

How do you NOT like Tali? Thats the question we should be asking.

Heres Tali showing her unwavering approval of our support.

I ask that question all the time; along with "how do people not like MLP?" and "how do people not like GMagnum?" The answer, I think, to all of these is "extremely bad taste".

No, it isn't. That's precisely the kind of attitude that causes these kinds of conflicts.

Everyone has different tastes, and I can see why not everyone would like a character like Tali. But I don't see why they have to bother us about it (or post here at all if they have nothing constructive to say; I'm not opposed to someone coming on this thread explaining in a civil manner why they don't like Tali, but I am opposed to mudslinging and name calling). Conversely, I don't think the Tali fans should act confrontational towards those that don't like her.

While that is a nice ideal, I also realise it's an unrealistic pipe dream. I've been on the web since the 90s, and have participated in online communities since the days when Usenet was still the primary way to do that. I know that there will always be trolls, and there will always be those who consider any different opinion a personal insult.

Still, a guy can dream.

I'm quite indifferent about him. I don't see him as annoying, but I can't understand how people find him funny. Though in those weeks/months I managed to understand what he sais in his post.

About the question "How do you not like Tali", people should understand that not everyone like the same things. I like her, but I'd like to know that you (or someone else) could tell me what she has to make you think that she can't be hated.
I love Wrex, Legion, Mordin, Miranda, Joker, and yet I understand why people could dislike or hate them.

I wasn't being entirely serious in my post; in retrospect, I probably should've used a smilie.

Well, lately a lot of it's been coming from the fact that Tali's a permanent squadmate in ME3, while some others' favourites aren't. So they feel the need to lash out over it; although why they always do so against Tali and rarely Garrus or Liara (not that I want them to attack those characters either!) is beyond me.

its a testament to tali's fanbase. we were strong enough to lift her to heights the writers didnt know she could go. the haters couldnt do the same for theirs. they have nobody to blame but themselves imho.

Or you can thank the ten creepy fans that tainted the rest of the fanbase w/ their oozing creepiness, who, then later moved on to a another forum that is completely dedicated to Tali.
