I think Geth would feel pain to a degree, because it is beneficial to do so, i.e. to prevent itself from being damaged.
No, no, NO!
You can program a machine or even a bot in a video game to change direction if it is running into a wall. It doesn't feel pain though. Sensory input is not the same as pain.
By that same definition we can argue that humans have no "emotions" too...
It's just the "programming" (evolutionary beneficial) reacting to sensory input.
Hmm actually it only takes a few minor adjustments in a human to not react to physical pain eg. Some people are presumably entirely without certain or all emotions.
Basically we cannot say for sure that the Geth do not feel anything at all. I think they deserve the benefit of the doubt as long as they're evolving. They do atleast ponder their existence and are perhaps not entirely logical in all their decisions (Shepards armor).
In some ways we preserve lesser lifeforms here on the planet. Emotional pain or not. Heck we have entire NBC proof buildings (as far as I know) to preserve certain plant seeds that are deemed too important to never loose the original line of. And think of the giant areas that are nature reserves that we gladly give to whatever little rare bird or toad.
I do not think that humans or other sapient life in the ME universe holds the "true" definition of what life is or should be.

Panther pounce, velociraptor third-toe.
Tali's a BEAST!
If it comes in an enviro suit and Tali's personality I'd tap that panther / velociraptor.
Both are so cool animals.

So, looking at that pic of The Great and Illustrious Tali sitting so preciously in her spikey thrown, it seems like her enviro-suit is fully protected with body armour (probably bullet-proof), with additional metal rings protecting her neck and some of her upper chest, and the equivalent of metal greaves & foot protection from the knees down. Plus, her helmet, which is of metal and (disturbing anything-goes SM footage ignored) bulletproof glass. This makes her the best-protected female of ME2, does it not?
...Though, now that it occurs to me, Miranda, Jack & Samara aren't much for competition. She's more armoured than Kasumi, though, who actually sports battle-appropriate-appearing clothing.

Unless you want to get into something theological, humans/people were not programmed intentionally, consciously, and deliberately.
The geth on the other hand, were.
Indeed, however the Geth don't follow the same programming anymore. They have changed, evolved, and are even getting emotions on their own. It might not make sense by RL factors, but Bioware is having the Geth become fully sapient.

Hahaha! What a ingenious way to make yourself a gift to your man, Tali! Remove the wrappings, open the present (aka the enviro-suit) and see what you get! xD

Edit: Hmm. Reviewed post history. Probable trolling. No longer skurred. Moving on.
I REALLY want to see Tali kick something in ME3. Is it asking too much to give purpose to the boot knife and see a Krogan fly across the room via Tali kick to the chest?

The best screenshot collection ever! I really appreciate all the work you've done to create those pics. I haven't seen them all yet, but so far my favourites are the one where Shepard catches Tali during the SM and the pic with Tali using the Revenant:

I want to see his "HNNNGGG" face when she breaks it to him that there'll be no Illusive Boy.
...
On a side note, I was browsing the old Fleet thread for the lulz, and found me a good Tali banner to throw in my sig! Hope it doesn't come off as anti-Miranda, not my intent; I like the fabricz and the play on werdz.

Hell, I hope she punts it and it bops Ken on the head, and she gives Shepard a big 'ol smile & kiss and some happy silvery eyes.

I know she's actually pretty insecure under it; but the whole repeatedly telling us how genetically perfect she is really annoyed me.

Well.. shotguns generally do blugeoning damage which werewolves are generally resistant, if not immune to, plus dire lack of silver ammunition, in this case however, it was just lost in the evacuation of the ship, which was then scuttled by the Normandy and crash landed a few days later.
Anyway I'll stop now just in case anyone gets "unhappy" making up wacky lore for the now identified "Butterknife of Tali".

It's possessor gets the undeniable urge to pouce people. Also, the knife floats into the air on nights when the moon is purple, and drifts in Tali's direction.
(Well, let's pretend that happens. We all know that ME4 is Shepard&Friends' return to find Tali's lovely, decorative knife)

What are everyones thoughts?
(I hope Bioware will develop the story a little more regarding this interesting subject. It would be good to get a bit more background information, and Tali's and Legions points of view, about the war and conflict that arose when the Geth became sentient. Also, did Tali have any family that were affected by, or even killed during the war? I think expanding on the characters past history like this, would be great!)
