Actually I thought they couldnt take off their suits on their own ships. It was retconed in ME2.

Well, they have special clean rooms where they can. Remember, quarians don't wear suits until adolescence, and I don't think they spend all that time just sitting around in a bubble.

Well in ME1 they could take off their suits all the time, but chose to wear them for privacy. Now, they have to wear them for some reason.

Well, I have no idea why. Maybe ME3 will explain it.

Is there any explanation for why quarians can't take their suits off on the flotilla? Isn't the flotilla already sterile?

Keep in mind Im refering to the flotilla and the Normandy. Technically Tali could probably have taken her suit off in ME1 while on the Normandy.

Looks like Bioware are the undisputed masters of retcon.

"Ascension" gave some semblance of an explanation. First, a quarian explains that there is always the risk of an hull breach or engine leak on ships as old as the quarians use. Then, Kahlee theorizes that wearing a suit has simply become a deeply ingrained tradition.

Tali also says she could never remember her father smile. It is obvious that they could take their suits off on the flotilla but it was retconed in ME2 for some reason.

It's either a recton, or it's just BW trolling us.

You've showed up a little late; it appears that the fight has now ended. I hope so, anyway.

Considering that Tali mentions never actually seeing his face, I'd have to guess that quarians have some sort of body language equivalent for a smile that she has never seen him perform. Either that or its just a blatant retcon.

Also any place filled with unsuited individuals would not be sterile. There would be bacteria from each individual as each person has their own specific flora. Likewise diseases would spread very quickly in such confined quarters so it is probably just safer to keep wearing the suit outside of clean-rooms.

What! Legion dies? Grrr......I read too far.

SPOILERS

I believe he CAN. Either way, Tali dosnt want him to and actually mourns him afterward.

Plus the fact that Legion can't really die. They'll just boot up a copy of him and put it in a new body.

Other than the leaked script (although that is a pretty big thing), there's been pretty much nothing on Tali for months.

It's either a recton, or it's just BW trolling us.

But Tali never mentions it in ME about the suits. I imagined in ME they were wall suitless on their own ships then they added to that in ME2 saying oh we can't be suitless even on our own ships it was a dumb move as I can't see any reason for it beyond the fact they lack atmosphere but since we already know that's present if we link up now with what Tali said back in ME her mom died because not only did the air filters shut down on ship she also died because her own suit couldn't process the bad air....Anyway it was a makes no sense type of thing they did on that unless the Alliance gives them superior filtering technology for 3 I don't think think they'll be uniform bound next time we visit the flotilla.

If Tali's mother were in a clean room, suit maintenance or simply cleaning up, then she would have been exposed to the dangers without breaking what Tali states.

Also, as to seeing her father smile.  Rael never took the sick time to remove his visor in Tali's company (linking of suits-sharing the same air) so she never even saw his actual face.  Rael was an ass and did not deserve any child.

I'm of the opinion that it was a retcon. Sure, you can argue how Tali's statements from ME1 might still fit but that doesn't change things, it just means it's a (reasonably) subtle retcon.

Note that I don't think it's a problem. This change makes a few things said in ME1 questionable, but it doesn't outright contradict any major story points (unlike the Myst trap book retcon that basically removes Myst and to a lesser degree Riven from the canon entirely). In fact, I think it's interesting to see the evolution of ideas like that, something that is always bound to happen in a large enough franchise, especially if there are multiple writers and the popularity of the work increases.

The real issue is that BW has only given us VERY small bones to pick over.  Without any meaningful information, all we can do is guess and use our own imaginations as to almost every single facet of quarian life.
I try to make what is given fit in the story properly but still, it just how I try to do it.  Others user other means.  No one is right or wrong.  We just see it differently :)
Now, if BW would get off their arses and give us meaningful info, alot of this guessing can end.

I've always wondered what it'd be like if Rannoch was ever given back to Quarians...and what Tali's reaction would be if Shepard was directly involved in getting it back from the Geth...

What is your guys' imagination of that precious moment? Tell me! If it's by words or pictures, it doesn't matter! :D

Shepard stood by Tali's side, his emphatic stance waiting for a response from Tali.  When none came, he asked:
"So..." The air had permeated for a moment. "...what do you think?"

Posted Image

Tali finally answered, her voice cracking from dehydration.
"Shepard..." Seconds rolled by, her head hanging low. "Thank you." She murmured.

"It was a promise I intended to keep." Shepard inhaled slowly.
Tali turned to Shepard, her glowing orbs gleaming against the suns light.
Tali closed the gap between the two, her hands wrapping around his armored torso for a heartfelt embrace.
"Thank you..." She reiterated through a quiet sigh.

What do you guys think? :)
