I tend to play as either Engineer or Sentinel, so her drone comes handy sometimes when I need the enemies off my back for a few seconds.

Energy Drain as a bonus power is very good when I'm doing a Vanguard run too.

My main's an Infiltrator... so her Shield Drain is pretty handy for stripping away the one protection layer that a Warp Ammo-enhanced Widow shot doesn't handle well. As well, I've noticed Infiltrators aren't that great for crowd control or when getting mobbed up close, so her drone is very, very handy for that, as well as lining up headshots on distracted opponents (or saving his sorry butt from Scions/Harbinger, *shudders*).

For ME1, her and Wrex were that character's shotgun-toting wrecking squad- perfect compliment to my sniping preference.

I figure an Infiltator has enough tech savvy to also have pretty engaging conversations with Tali about techie things too, though I chose the class before even really regarding her much at all in ME1.

My Talimance playthroughs are Vanguard and Soldier; partially because that ensures that I can bring her everywhere without any power redundancy and don't have to worry about having an unbalanced squad, and partially because one shotgun-wielder in the party deserves another.

Kinda sucks she didn't got new armor.

And I really doubt it's placeholder since ME3 is only 1 months away from being Gold and Bioware only removing bugs and finalizing music.

Only new they can possibly do now is DLC's post-launch.

No one here seems to understand that not only is switching out a character model over the same skeleton pretty easy, but with things like computer programs its really easy to have two nearly identical (but different) versions coexisting at the same time.

i.e. press release version and s**twe'renotgonnashowtillrelease version.

THAT BEING SAID.... It could still go either way.

Soldier, mostly. I don't like using biotics myself, so all those character classes are out the window. I did a couple ME1 playthroughs as an infiltrator but once I got to ME2 and couldn't use my beloved Mattock, that was defenestrated as well. I still end up taking Garrus and Tali on most missions anyway because I believe in triple redundancy.

Ooops! Sorry Nashiktal, I thought I quoted your post.

I repeat... I think the admirals made Tali one because she is popular, nothing more.

Actually, they made her a temporary admiral because of her knowledge about the geth (almost all their other experts died on the Alarei) and they needed someone to take her father's place.

It's pretty much just for show and they all know it. Plus, that's where Shep enters the picture and can get his/her word through.

Hmm, I don't remember Tali admiral title to be temporary in that text, but if that's the case, it would make sense.

But I agree that Tali being Admiral is more for show and that there is no other real reasons for that. At least not in the ME3  timetiline. If this whole Tali being admiral would happen few years later, then it could be completely different story.

I sincerely hope that these were made before Tali's look for ME3 was finalized; it makes little to no sense to update the original cast's looks (VS, Liara, Garrus.) and not include Tali. It won't be game breaking, or something childish like that, but it will be another "Really Bioware? Really?" in a long line of such moments.

And Bovine, did they say that about Tali specifically? If so, I'd like to know where from.

I actually think that it's somewhat easy to explain why Bioware would change VS, Garrus and Liara's looks but not Tali's.

1. Tali being Quarian and that they don't waste resources, it wouldn't make much sense for Tali to get completely new suit between ME2 and ME3. (Of course BW could have made some special reason for that like Tali's old suit was damaged beyong repair so like that.) Also as Tali had now matured and she is adult, there are no more reson for suit changes, like there were after her pilgrimage.

2. Tali and her looks very so popular in ME2 that it would have been difficult, if not impossible to give her some new looks as it's quite possible that it would have ruined the characters (or at least people wouldn't have like the new suit/looks). Also Tali suit is quite essential part of her character unlike with others. I mean sure Garrus did have same armor as default choice in both previous games, but armor was not really part of his characters, not like it's with Tali. VS is completely different case as that suit/look change had much more to do with BW wanting to change to character as whole. And Liara didn't actually get new looks as it seems to be same as it was in LotSB DLC.

3. It's possible that these new looks for other characters than Tali are some sort of representation for these characters changed status. For example Liara had become SB and even before that she had become much more "aggressive" in her dealings with things (like getting Shep's body back). Now I don't see Liara doing any of these is her doctor/scientics suit she had in ME1, so naturally she needed new looks.

It also seems that Garrus status in society had in ME3 as he sure are not in C-sec anymore, so there is no logical reason for him to use that old armor. And when you think about it, that old armor sure was not in good conditions. Also there is this practical part in this as armors are important defence issue, so naturally it would make sense to change to better armor.

And then VS and their new armors. Well they had become Spectres, so they do need new armor (and that way looks) to compensate that. Though the bigger reason here is that BW had made VS one character, which means that they needed to find balance between Kaidan, who was sentinel using light armor and Ash who was soldier, who could use heavy armor. (And they would have done that in ideal world. But as we this is not ideal world, this didn't exactly happened.) Anyway VS (and especially Ash's) new looks are more of result of quite huge change in these characters and obvious attempt for BW to make Ash much more appealing by trying to use her look.

So, all in all, I could find so quite logical reasons for why Bioware wouldn't change Tali's default looks in ME3. After all why fix something that ain't broke. I would be more that happy, if Tali would have her ME2 suit as default choice in ME3, but she would then have some alternative looks so that you could make changes, if you want when playing game.

I like Tali's original look in ME2 more than any of the other "options" I've seen, but there's no way that's the finalized look. That's a placeholder.

I'd like to think so too, but why would they use a placeholder in an official screen so close to release? That's the part that concerns me.

Only reason I could think of is that new outfit identifies her as an Admiral somehow... but I don't see that being true.

Well that's not possible. After all exiled Tali can't exactly become Admiral, don't you think?

After the screenshots, my theory is that Tali's outfit is a major spoiler and they won't show it. There is no way they'd use the exact same outfit.

Now this is possibility. Then again it would be quite weird from marketing point of view as it's only little over two months that the game is out. So why would they use Tali's old looks, if she getting new one in ME3? Especially without saying or giving any tips of possible new looks?

Mine Shep's tend to be either Soldier, Infiltrator or Vanguards. Also as I usually do all my fights alone and only send my squad somewhere safe and far away from any fights, Tali and her Energy drain and drone are really useful.

I am starting to think they made her visor see through. Why else would they hide her new looks?

All good points. I think (hope) it will all be just minor changes in detail while keeping the same general look and shape. The only thing that could rub me the wrong way would be if they added some sort of long flowy princess robe or something to presumably show off their new hair/fabric physics.

Yeah, it's possible that your ME3 Tali is exiled from the flotilla. And exactly because of this it wouldn't make sense at all that her new suits would somehow refer Tali being admiral as it's not possible with exiled Tali.

Now what happens to exiled Tali and how Shep might find her in ME3.......... well that's another story (though that leak script does tell you it might happen).

Maaaaaybe. Well, maybe more see-through than it already is. I don't think she'd go from "I've never shown anyone my face" to being more open about it in the span of 2-6-ish months, but that would be a practical out-of-game explanation of why her outfit might not have changed.

I believe Bioware saved a looooot of space on her texture sheet by not including a high-res face like the other characters (thus enabling her getup to look so detailed and awesome. ^_^), so if every other character got a textural improvement due to higher texture resolution, they might've needed to take that extra space and improve the textures on her face (going by this less opaque visor theory) while keeping the same level of detail on her suit.

Well. I guess there is the possibility that she can be seen without the mask and gets a new outfit then. I suppose that's likely.

Still if she gets no new outfit. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA.

Her current outfit is her best. Anyway, all the squaddies are getting multiple outfits/armor with different stat bonuses. So you can choose one you like if you don't like her default.

So? She doesn't need a new outfit. If Ashley's outfit is setting the standard, then I'll gladly pass.

The first time I saw that in ME1 I was like lol pink/white armor on the first female character I see. wow, that's ridiculous. I might hate this game after all. Good thing I was able to swap it (and end up loving the game), but it pissed me off seeing it on her during later cutscenes. The only way for Tali's look to get boggered up is if they do something radically different and stupid, like making the midriff section of her suit clear or something like I previously mentioned.

Hey Talimancers,

Look, this is going to be a bit off topic (kind of) and it may have been brought up before (apologies) but, I just got finished watching the Disney Mo-Cap movie Mars Needs Moms and…well, some of you might already know where I’m going with this, but, did Tali’s concept artist work on that film because, apparently, Quarians live on Mars. I’m serious. Remove a finger and it’s almost eerie.
:?

I really wish I could post a full body image of not just the Martians from the film but of Ki (one of the main characters/love interests) but if someone wants to do that for those who haven’t seen the film everyone will know what I mean. So…anyone see this or is it just me?

Also, if Tali *did* end up looking like Ki am I the only one that would kinda be okay with that? I mean…I was *SPOILER!!!*  actually happy that the geeky fat guy (raises hand) hooks up with her at the end. She was pretty. Even her personality was a *bit* Tali-ish So, yeah…that’s all I’ve got. Thoughts?
^_^

Bit of a repost here, mostly because this question got lost in the shuffle after someone chose to make a photo dump of the new screen shots almost *immediately* after I posted this. Figured it really wasn't going to get noticed after that. While this might just be me being a bit of a Geek, I genuinely thought this was worth throwing out there since it *is* Tali related, albiet indirectly...

From what i just looked up, its nothing more than a cursory resemblance. But quarians DO have noses, if that's the look you're hoping for. They also don't have fat heads, actually skinnier than humans from the look of it, so I don't think that would work.

*edit*: Is that an arrow showing the way to her induction port?

That's not terrible, it just makes her look like a nurse and that ambulance colorscheme makes the purple knee pads seem out of place. I was more referring to a complete change in shape like football-head tali.
