The geth are just toys created by quarians. Being a computer programmer that likes to deal with AI myself, I can say that even if they look/sound/act like real living beings, they are just a really well programmed software. They aren't even capable of much if there is only one program at a time. Legion is more than 1 thousand processes running. But, even if we took the same situation for our real lifes, having to choose between the life of the girl you love (and loves you too) or the life of one friend, I would kill my friend right away. No, I'm not kidding.
Whoa! I'm amazed, I didn't knew that A.I.s as such existed... Seriously, you are a programmer and you tell me this?
I don't know if your sarcasm is because you could not understand what I said or if you're just doing for the "lulz"... Anyway, no, there is no AI as advanced as Legion, but there are some very convincing "talking bots". But I admit that I mixed a little the words when talking about the AIs we have today and "Geth AI". English is not my first language and sometimes I get lost trying to explain something. What I wanted to say is that any AI (and any computer programs as well) is just a programmed sequence of orders to a machine. A computer doesn't make decisions, it just search for the programmed bit for the reaction to some given input. But I think you just did it for the lulz, so I probably wrote this for no reason.

What fanart competition are we
talking about, anyway? Now I'm curious, was the winning idea you talk
of the one where tali was drawn with skin flaps stretched back from her
face and into her hair, or "bathtub Tali"?
I think it was at SDCC, they had this wall with some fan created drawings, one of them was an unmasked Tali that looked very human.
Edit: found it ->

. Looking at it, I think it is your first guess.
