I don't want a Thresher Maw but I don't think quarians to be Night Elves in Space, either...

It'd probably please anyone who's rooting for 'space elf', sure.
It's "pretty enough" to please that crowd, and it's "alien enough" for the other crowd, or at least it has just about the same amount of differentiation from humans as nearly every other race in the game. In short, a compromise. Lore-wise, it was already stated that Quarian faces are very similar to humans. As for the "don't show" crowd, they can deal with it I guess since they seem to be at a smaller ratio. The air of mystery worked brilliantly for the first two games, I agree, but like it or not Tali is essentially Darth Vader (not in terms of importance, mind you, just the way in which the character is treated as an enigma). You get nothing but a mask in ME1, a slight hint in ME2, and in ME3... well, what would RoTJ be without the showing of Sebastian Shaw's busted face in the end?
Will they? Dunno, but I'm curious.

Off Topic: (Laughs) How long (i.e. how many re-releases/versions) do you think before it's Hayden Christensen's busted face?

I think it was at SDCC, they had this wall with some fan created drawings, one of them was an unmasked Tali that looked very human.
Edit: found it ->. Looking at it, I think it is your first guess.
I like it. Has an alien look to it while also being humanish. I'd be happy with that Tali. Either that one or the REALLY human one that was drifting around a while ago.

Do NOT remind me of this. The answer to that is that I won't know because Star Wars has been dead to me since that hideous revision they made for the first DVD release. The first nail in the coffin was Greedo when it came back to theaters. Everything else followed quickly downhill into a steaming pile of fail. People complain on this forum all the time about how they're so upset that the ME storyline isn't panning out exactly the way they want. You tell me if seeing one of your favorite trilogies of all time getting retconned to death before your eyes every few years isn't much, much worse.

I just rely on film fanedits that other people have made of the Original Trilogy (like Star Wars: Revisited).glenboy24 wrote...

Now the Prequel Trilogy, on the other hand.... I personally fanedited the hell out of those movies myself.

So tali is pretty awesome. I hope we get more "deep" romance scenes in ME3. Can we share a large plate of spaghetti? I bet she would like noodles.

I would be 100% happy with this. I like the other REALLY human one, but I think this is just as good, and probably more accurate.

Speaking of skin, the texture they used in that picture is fantastic.
On a more Tali/quarian related note however; Ascension says something about "What passes for an ear." Which got me to thinking; what do they have? It can't be too ridiculous, because they have to stuff it into their helmets. Are they like the Asari? Do they have fin things? Those little bumps that Twi'leks have?
Considering its one of the few features we really can't see, like skin color, I thought it was interesting.

I think many have already given pretty reasonable arguments to why she wouldn't have a new default costume, so I'll just point towards them instead.
I've never heard any such arguments.
All I've ever heard is, "I like her suit as it is!"
Well that's nice, but that's extremely subjective. You don't think her "look" can be improved at all. I think it still could.

The argument SWM is talking about is that a new suit would make no sense for a Quartian. Doing so would take up resorces that are more valuble being used elsewhere.
Now, the counter to this is that the suit itself could have stayed the same, while still looking differenyt. The cloth and other stuff on the outside could be easily changed. So there is no excuse for the suit to atleast get a update and possibly some minor changes

It's a human face with a dye job and ears. She even has human lips. You get more aliem faces with humans and makeup.

Human lips I don't mind so much. Drell show that you can have human features while still looking rather alien. Although I havn't seen the picture we are talking about so take my opinion with a pinch of salt.

Well, it might be a possibility that her AA suit will be in there too, which I really liked, save for the Visorception they had going on there.

Human-style lips are one of the most de-alienizing things you can put on a species. Heck, a human proprotioned face with a human nose, a human mouth, largely human eyes, human facial expressions, human eyebrows, and, yes, even human-esque hair. Heck, not even the ears are distinctly alien. They're just not normal human ears.
At least Thane had black eyes and no hair.
