While I understand that hair is a very human trait (Especially here, as Bioware seems to think Hair is the devil, sucking up valuable "Space.") I would love it if quarians had it, or something similar; it just seems odd that humans are the only species in the known galaxy to evolve that way. I've always kicked around the idea of something like dreadlocks; their hair being thicker and tougher than a human's.

We already know, from the novel, that quarians are remarkably similar to humans; eyes with eyelids and tear ducts, teeth and lips, reproductive organs, an endoskeleton, and its obvious from just looking at what we can see through Tali's helmet, their facial proportions are extremely similar, if not identical to a human's. So to everyone that desperately wants Tali to be a Predator under that bucket, sorry, but its not going to happen.

We also have to remember that she's a love interest; and Bioware is generally consistent in offering what most people would term "Attractive," to romance. And to many people, a human face/biology is more empathetic; they can relate to it more than say, an elcor.

In the end, I don't find it "Lame," or "Lazy," should quarians look strikingly like humans. Hell, they're could be an interesting reason behind it; why so many species do share such similar traits. Maybe its due to Prothean influence, considering we know that they meddled with the Hanar, and *Spoiler* gave a generous helping hand to the Asari, *End Spoiler* if Bioware wanted to, they could very easily explain such things in an artistic, story driven way.

It's "pretty enough" to please that crowd, and it's "alien enough" for the other crowd,

What?

It's a human face with a dye job and ears. She even has human lips. You get more aliem faces with humans and makeup.

Which essentially describes almost every major alien species in the mass effect series; humans with primary colored skin and a few bumps attached by spirit gum, with an occasional quasi-digitigrade and a missing finger/toe thrown in for good measure. Even the turians have the same eye to "nose" distance ratio as a human, because they're essentially a hunchbacked human form mixed with a bird and a cat (and a hydralisk). That's Mass Effect, and honestly I'm fine with the similarities. It's already in the lore that quarians have essentially similar facial structure/aesthetics as humans anyway so... That's my opinion, that it's "alien enough". Should we continue to argue who's speculations/opinions are the bestest?

I totally agree with BentOrgy. Tali is probably goin to look very human, I'd go as far as to say that Quarians under the helmet will be as similar to humans as Asari with different kind of ear and possibly some sort of fine fur. Why fur? Idk at times Tali reminds me of a giraffe (a very hot giraffe) with a long neck and feet similar to hooves and quarians are mamalian.

Who's arguing? I already said long enough ago that people happy with space elves would like that picture. That's not the disagreement.

The disagreement is whether it looks alien, or human. The Turians, Eclor, Collectors, Yahg, and even Salarians have been more than able to pull of looking like aliens without Human-with-paint. The only two races with distinctly human faces, the Asari and Drell, were also designed from the get-go to be very much human.

Alright then. It just seems like everyone who throws the space elf comment usually seems to be using it with a snide and derogatory tone. Personally I found that image to be much more agreeable than the space elf images I've seen, which are literally a purple skinned woman's head photoshopped onto a tali pic. I just think its ridiculous when people argue that certain races aren't alien enough when almost everything in mass effect is bipedal and mostly human shaped, the elcor, hanar (essentially just a sentient man-o-war floating in the air) and the keepers being the exceptions.

Well, there's one part in the script that might support the theory that they have some kind of hair.

*spoiler*This is Rannoch, the world of our ancestors. Our bodies carried the seeds that spread the desert grass.*spoiler*

There's bipedal because of system requirements (Bioware needs Humanoid models), but that's different from actually looking like a Human bar a few fingers. Most species don't. It's not an excuse or a pardon.

Just for giggles.

It is known the protheans were studying mankind. It can be surmised that the protheans might have experimented with dna from both the human and quarian races. Designed as a weapon against the Reapers, the protheans tried their experiment by creating the same 'race' but mirrored, placing them on opposite sides of the galaxy. Their design was not exact, having to make allowances for the root stock used on both worlds, hence the physical differences between the two races. Curved verse straight shins and 3 fingers/toes verses 5 are just cosmetic differences really.
Both races are technical species, always striving to learn more and quick to grasp new technologies. Both are willing to step outside the box as well. We humans still do stupid things that, at times, result in breakthroughs. The quarians did this as well until one of them bit them in the arse. And, without the Reapers coming, the humans might just as easily followed suit. Since the quarians 'matured' as a race faster just shows they started with a better root stock.

As I said, just for giggles. (But it could explain how close they are to humans if BW does that) :)

Have fun ripping it apart.

EDIT:  Oh, I know there are so many holes in this giggletheory that makes it ridiculous but hey, this IS BSN!

True but I just don't see why there is such a debate over a picture someone posted on a forum. It was a pretty damn cool looking pic though, if she looked like that in the game that would be fine by me.

Eh i'm not a big fan of the protheans seeding the universe. While it would explain why everyone has a similar body structure in lore, it's also a cliche i'm not very fond of. It would also make the protheans even more... Whats the word... Well not sure but i'm not fond of the idea.

But I can't come up with anything better so...

Nono.  I don't hold that theory either, why I called it a giggletheory.   But, since BW has decided to use the same old tired cliche of 'Saving Earth'  and 'Mankind, the savior of the galaxy' I thought it would fall in line with their thinking.

Besides, it would  let Tali look cute.  :)

Well we don't exactly have a wealth of topics to discuss at the moment, and at least when talking about tali's face we can use our imagination.

I personally would not like it if tali looks overtly human. Bioware has already proven they can be very creative with alien design while still having human qualities that allow us to empathize and in few cases even be attracted to if this forum is to be believed.

Just making a human face seems like a dissapointing copout to me, and to be honest I have a few worries about the art direction bioware has been taking with the ME series lately, as little as we have seen for ME3 of course.

Oh come on, they can make tali cute while still alien at the same time. They did it with garrus after all. (well ok that's because of his personality, but still.)

Silly human.  Tali is already damned cute.  And it has nothing to do with her looks.  :)

To answer Magic space Chicken's question of why do you like Tali....

Well I remember meeting her in 1 and thinking finally wow thats a pretty cool introduction. (her grenade tossing bit) and steadly growing attached as I learned here story.

Then in 2 after our too brief encounter at the start, I kept looking at my squadmates think bah I wish Tali was here... till she was

In fact the for the most part as I played Skyrim I kept thinking Man I wish Tali was here(oops)...

Just all in all one of the best written not the main hero characters I have encountered.(though to be honest most the ME crew is up there)

In closing
lets face it
Everythings better when shes around

So tali is pretty awesome. I hope we get more "deep" romance scenes in ME3. Can we share a large plate of spaghetti? I bet she would like noodles.

The game is rated M/PEGI18 due to, among other things, partial nudity.:)

Can't wait for the idiots at FOX to freak out of their ignorant shells when they realize;

*Spoiler*

Vega's bi and Traynor is a lesbian.

*End Spoiler*

I'm just happy Bioware hasn't lost all of their nerve. Some common sense maybe, but still won't back down because a couple of stuffed white people said "That's naughty!"
