She DOES want peace. She actively pursues it along with Legion.

Only after pulling a gun on him and being talk-jutsu'd by Shepard. She certainly never expressed this sentiment at the trial and this scene doesn't even happen if you don't recruit Legion or if you don't get her loyalty.

I never said that there was absolutely no other quarian fit for the job, what I said is that given the political motivation in the past by the admirals, and given that Tali has the most experience with both the geth and Reapers when it comes to technology, she is a plausible candidate for the job. Possibly not the most logical choice when it comes down to it, but still plausible.

I think the truth is you'll defend anything Bioware does, especially with Tali, because you have no spine.

Someone With Mass wrote...
Newsflash: Tali wants peace as long as it'll get her their homeworld back. If it comes to war, then she'll be ready to do whatever it takes as long as it doesn't compromise the security of her people.

Bull. She has no respect for Koris and outright says that she disagrees.

Next!

Troodon80 wrote...

Is correct, then that means she loses her position, along with all the other admirals anyway, so whatever position she has is short-lived.

Yeah so it was all basically a ploy to subvert the democratic process.

Stay classy, clanless.

PhantomSpectre wrote...

The connection between Shepard's Spectre status in ME2 and Tali admiral position in ME3 is that neither of them really matters.

Except that Tali's does. Even ME2 points out how important that Admiralty position will be for whomever gets it.

This is likely in the codex, or some conversation that I missed, but who even decides who replaces a deceased admiral? It seems really wierd/stupid for the people who would be working alongside the new admiral to pick them, because, like people have been saying, they would just pick someone that they could use as a puppet. But is that really what Bioware is saying that the process is?

I'm sure that's the point that Bioware is trying to make, and that it isn't the normal procedure. Tali is just a political figurehead/puppet.

@Unschuld; Aha, makes sense now. She came and went so fast, I guess I'll have to listen closer when I replay for ME3. :P

@PhantomSpectre; Glad I'm not the only one who thinks it might happen, and exploring their possible reasons for manipulating her is interesting; I can't wait to see something of a power struggle with the Admiralty.

Tali clearly states that 'The Admiralty board is made up of the 5 highest ranking Admirals in the Fleet.'  It has been that way for 300 years.
Since, we all know that Tali was made an Admiral, we can all come to the conclusion that the 4 acting Admiralty Board members are bat**** crazy.  Unless, of course, Tali was just made a low level Admiral, like a Commodore or Rear Admiral.  If so, then they are just bat**** stupid, not crazy.

EDIT:
And, before anyone thinks I'm not a Tali fan...  HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Being a Tali fan doesn't bar you from making criticism or force you to overlook faults. :P

Characters with flaws make them all the more realistic. It does seem that those flaws are being ignored though. (I haven't actually read the leaks, I just know of parts of it from outraged people on this forum)

Just to cover my question even though it isn't directly related to Tali, does anyone know what the standard procedure actually is because this has to be abnormal.

Right saphra, bit of a stretch to go from simple criticism to proclaiming you will kill her for taking a job you believe she isn't qualified for...

It's more like... firing her. Actually it's for her benefit. Same reason I'm going to kill Ashley and Mordin. I'd rather Tali die and not have her character tainted by such horrible writing than to force her to exist. It's a sign of respect.

He could just get her exiled, anyway. That'll prevent the admiral thing with no need for death.

The problem is how I roleplay that. My Shepard doesn't care about "what's right", only about what helps the mission. Upsetting Tali isn't good for the mission.

Makes it difficult for me to find a way to dispose of her or get her exiled.

But exiling her doesn't affect the mission. Her loyalty is still gained if you do it.

Heaven forbid choices of moral ambiguity being difficult...

Oh, that's right. I had things a bit mixed-up there.

Well, I think about it. I hate missing out on a chance to have my Shepard get angry though. It such a perfect dialogue option for him.

I don't think you know what you're talking about.

I was talking about roleplaying. I don't consider a choice to have the right kind of "difficulty" if it is a difficult choice to make because I feel it forces me to break my character.

The renegade speech? Yeah, it's a lot of fun; better than the paragon one, IMO. Still, if you don't want Admiral Tali, you may have to miss out on it.

So you can't fathom roleplaying that your Shep is lying through his/her teeth in order to get the best result?

Not when telling the Admirals off would be more satisfying for him. He's angry and he does often vent that anger.

Most of us can, actually.
