its not about payback, or who benefits the most, its about bringing a criminal to justice.

Criminal, oh please. Read my post on the subject. Rael was a fool for doing what he did, and payed for it with his life. No one's more upset than he is, I'm sure.

situation as a mess that can be stopped before it gets much worse. Do
you believe `punishing` a dead man who cant be punished is worth
potentially crippling the fleet? I say no. We are not arguing about absolutes, we are arguing about morally grey areas. They are suppose to be opionated for the most part.

@Kid Buu, theres nothing grey about it to me. He knew what he was doing was wrong and he did it anyways. Maybe if something like that was going to threaten the flotilla. he shouldnt have done it in the first place.

not sure what you're trying to say Bent, but Rael broke the laws that were made to keep the fleet safe. there are consequences to that.
Er, my post is very clear on the subject. Yes, Rael did something stupid, and several people died because of it. Its not like he's a murderer, it was an accident born of eagerness. Read it again, turning him in solves nothing.

Just a thought; does this mean you pro-data-giving people support revealing Kasumi's greybox information, whatever it may be, to the rest of the galaxy? Seeing as how the truth is more important than the consequences?
In principal, sure. It is the moral thing to do. Humanity suffers, but everyone else benefits I suppose. Even if they don't, it's the truth.
Would I reveal it? No, because I care more about humanity than I do justice and truth for aliens. However I wouldn't pretend that what I was doing wasn't immoral from a more galactic perspective.
The same with covering up national secrets to protect my country.
You might have very good reasons for keeping the greybox secret, but don't pretend what you're doing isn't shady.

well thats your opinion. just becuase you have a different opinion doesnt mean you can hide behind it or not let it get challenged. only when we challenge the things we believe in do we learn more about ourselves, the world and life. but i digress.

I see whats going on here. I see! you guys have a very very simple morality thing going on, no nuance, no color, just black and white.
I was not asking anyone what the most practical course of action was with regards to the fleet. All I ever brought up was that Tali asked you to do a very bad thing by covering up her father's. All the talk about the fate of the fleet and whether or not the fleet will be better off has nothing to do with that.
If you believe in truth and justice... then it should be obvious how awful it is to lie about Rael's crime.
It's so depressing to see people make excuses to justify it, but it's not surprising. Hardly the first time. Not by a long shot.
This sort of thing helps make me who I am today.
you be young and inexperienced yo. Life will happen for you eventually.
Its not awful to lie about what rael was doing. Infact this very arguement is the same dilemma that the founders of the consitution faced when crafting the US government. Now intrinsically all the founders were racist, lets ignore that part as its irreleveant to the point. They did want to eliminate slavery on the basis it was immoral. But they knew if they tried to force the issue, the south would succeed from the union collapsing the government. They new the young nation wasnt ready for that, though they were against it. Now they even wrote slavery into the constitution, 3/5 persons and all that. And sure enough that divide, that rift surfaced. But heres the amazing thing, it happened not then, but actually 200 years later when there was a strong government that could eventually keep the south and north together, a unified country.
Same point here. If you let this surface your going to be bringing the geth problem front and center, and what is only backroom talks and ambition gets kicked into high gear. So by granting the families peace, or justice as you call it, your dooming them for a course that there not yet ready to make.
These kinds of calls are made all the time. Sacrificing a few trees for the sake of the forrest. You need to add complexity to your worldviews, good place to start is in a video game, it will hurt less.

Good to see you again, Tali.
You too, Kaidan. How's the omni-tool? Still using the Logic Arrest?
It's still the best model.
Not for running multiple attack processes simultaneously. You need a Nexus.
Nexus shield enhancements are years behind the curve!
That's why you overclock the microframe.
We couldn't ask for a better expert.

Yeah, good enough for you so to hell with anyone else. You are the perfect Paragon Talimancer.
Are you deliberately missing parts of what I'm saying or are you just that incredibly stupid? Must be the delusional Renegade in you who thinks that being a douchebag is right as long as you can come up with lame excuses to cover them up.
I said that I cared about "everyone else" which is why I'm leaving them out of it.
Those who took part in the crime were severely punished and I don't think it should come back to haunt their families' reputations and future capabilities. It won't help one bit if I told them that their relatives died while committing a crime and it's not my decision to make, since it's not the point of the trial.

I'm asking if you would, because you feel the need to always reveal the truth, take the course of action of trying to expose the information although it could threoretically lead to a war.

Missing part of what you're saying? You said it was good enough for you. That's your stance on it, is it not? I don't think that's very admirable or defensible.
I won't claim to have the accepted moral highground in most matters, but I'm honest about that.
You aren't being very honest.
