Then again, Jacob being a total ****** is hardly something new.

If some group had attacked my friends and then a member of that group tried to keep a nice smile in front of me while pretending like there's nothing wrong, I'd tell that person to f**k off and never bother me again. So Tali did pretty good in that scene.

Actually now that you mention it... That was a bit silly of jacob to provoke tali like that. Perhaps its because he doesn't know much about quarians? That would probably explain why he decided to drop the bomb like that.

Conversely, if he did know, that makes him out to be a jerk in that scene. At least it puts some life in him though.

Well she was still a dick to Jacob, guy had nothing to do with that attack, so she deserved that a little.

Plus, it's one of the very few good moments with Jacob.

Sorry to everyone for beating this topic to death. Here we go:

Sometimes, I wish this were possible. Either for my Shep, or for Tali.

As much as I like Tali and dislike Jacob, she deserved that there.

Deserved what? It was quite unfair for Tali to get jumped with that information without her knowledge, and hell I thought she took it rather well. (WAY too well in my opinion)

Especially considering what cerberus did, she's been quite polite.

Your bias is talking. She was quite the b!tch in that introductory section on the Normandy, contrary to how she was otherwise portrayed in ME2. Jacob was trying to be nice and welcome her, and she just insulted him. People keep thinking him mentioning EDI was a jab at her sour attitude, but in actuality he was probably just forewarning her about the presence of an AI on the ship since Shepard was too much of an ass to tell her him/herself. Jacob's simply that much of a bro - he doesn't let some pissy attitude get him down.

Anyway, her behaviour in that scene was completely and utterly inexcusable.

Bias? Ah its arcian never mind.

Don't be a douche.

Nashiktal wrote...

In any case even jacob acknowleges that cerberus has done some terrible things and he has his own guilt trips about it. Considering what cerberus did to the quarians (and how quarians are about safety and community) she has been starkingly polite considering any other time tali or other quarians would simply have shot cerberus and be done with it.

Not in THAT SCENE. In every other scene in ME2, then I would wholeheartedly agree with you - especially when you ask her down in engineering and she says she's gotten along well with everyone even though they're Cerberus. That's the polite Tali - the one being introduced by Jacob is not.

Nashiktal wrote...

Its called critical thinking Arcian, try it sometime.

What you exhibited was NOT critical thinking, more like anti-critical thinking. The way you said it makes it sound like Tali's incapable of doing something wrong or that all of her actions are rational and totally justified, which is just untrue. She's a flawed being just like everyone else, and her behavior towards Jacob was just rude and out of line.

Nashiktal wrote...

Its not always becase people who post on the tali forum have a bias.

When you're defending actions that were blatantly b!tchy, I have no choice but to assume that you're biased.

The fact that it advances by 20 pages is not a good thing, that just means people are gushing about sameoldsameold and/or reposting the same images 4000 times. This goes for every support thread in the character section - even my own Prothy one, even if that has yet to reach critical levels (but that day will come, eventually).

What every single support group on this site fails to grasp is that if there's nothing important or new to talk about, it's better to not say anything. People are way too willing to waste words and fill up threads with nonsense.

In this case the twenty or so pages came from a bit of trolling (arguing with said trolls) and heavy debate about Tali's father, and discussion about spoilers from ME3 involving the resolution of the geth and quarian conflict.

There was actually a suprisingly lack of pics being posted during the twenty pages.

Yes, my bad, I forgot to mention that trolling and anti-trolling has a tendency to bloat these threads.

Jacob is the only one that doesn't take **** from Shepard, if she is too rude, jerk or offensive he simply tell her to go to hell, like a normal person would do.

He's not  THAT bad actually because of this.

Hmm... Rude? Yes. Out of line? No, I disagree.

It wasn't very mature of Jacob to fire back, though.A clear lack of empathy regarding the scale of Cerberus's antagonism to the Migrant Fleet.

But really, you can't say that Tali was just plain friendly with Jacob in the scene.

One thing you should know about me is that I am severely colored by the Tali threads of the olden days, when the mindless masses could fill threads up to 5500 pages in just a few days. The same pictures were reposted to the point of becoming cancerous, and the usage of "dat ass" aged faster than the villain in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade when he drank from the wrong grail.

Imagine taking 100 different youtube clips and opening them in 100 separate tabs all at once - that's how those threads were. Utter and total chaos.

Which come to think of it was wierd for a rather minor squadmate back in the ME1 days.

I would have backed Jacob at that point. Okay Cerberus did attack the Quarians but Jacob wasn't part of it. What do you expect him to do? I'll tell you, he can't do nothing so he just took what she said and tried to show his not a threat. Plus I think he only mentioned the AI so she doesn't go crazy later.

Or so she doesn't start to panic thinking the ship's systems has been invaded by a hostile AI.

If he was doing it to warn her ahead of time he would not have told her in that fashion. Which means he was either ignorant, or trying to provoke her/one last parting shot.

Also jacob being a part of cerberus means he gets their reputation. Cerberus has created monsters, assasinated important figures, committed terrorist acts, all sorts of morally black things. Jacob joined the organization, he accepts their reputation.

I'm not really contradicting myself;

You sound so guilty and I think you know it.

You do not know that revealing the data will lead to a cycle of hatred or that it will lead to anything. I'd say that leaving the truth buried will let the quarians' firey politics continue to boil over until they reach breaking point. Letting the truth come out puts everything on the table so they can make an informed decision. Considering what they are up against they need to make an informed decision. That means having all the facts and then judging what they should do.

They should know what Rael did and why.

The victims (families) deserve to know who was responsible for the deaths of the people on board. It is respectful to the surviving families and to the victims themselves.

Hiding the truth to avoid rocking the boat is cowardly and arrogant.

...and no, they were not all war criminals. The only criminals would be Rael and the immediate officers under him who ordered that the research be carried out and how. The little people just following orders and doing their little part are guilty of nothing except having a bad boss.

I wonder, where you against Wikileaks letting slip the American secrets last year? Same deal.

Or he was just doing his job and you are reading way too much into that scene.

Jacob welcomes her aboard, Tali blows him off and starts to leave, so Jacob warns her about EDI.

I don't think there was any malicious intent on his part nor was there any ignorance. He did not "fire back" anything.

I doubt that would have happened, haunts for injustices are in the "realm" of innocent deaths, conversely each and every quarian on that ship was a war criminal...

No they weren't. Most of them would have been low ranking people tasked with very specific jobs with no real knowledge of the whole project and certainly no authority over it. They were just following orders and wouldn't be aware of any wrongdoing.

The guily people are Rael and the officers immediately under him.

Indeed, but the self-righteous Paragons seem to care more about the "practical" or "easy" thing than the right thing too. You are a scummy and hypocritical bunch.

I dunno, one of the best moments of Jacob and Jack for me is when Shepard try to be a smart a** and get uterlly screwed.
I mean, he really talk a lot of things to the squad that can only be described as "what the hell are you talking about?!".

Concerning Tali, I hope she come back more stronger in ME3, after all, she had a lot of experiences since the first time she met Shepard.
I'm replaying ME1 and had forgoten how good she's after her powers are developed and you get armors with good shields for her.

I'm playing as a Vanguard with Wrex and her as squadmates, terrific duo.

For my Soldier in ME1 (which is also my canon Shep), Tali and Wrex were pretty much my main squad for the entire game ^_^ About the only time I alternated the squad order was on Noveria and the Ilos/Endgame run (where I switched out Wrex for Liara, for story reasons) plus a few select side missions like Garrus's side mission with Dr Saleon. (as much as I love Garrus as a character, he was a bit squishy in ME1 compared to Tali for some reason, plus he didn't have access to AI Hacking)

Tali/wrex and ashley/wrex were my main squad in ME1 depending on my class. Absolute terror were they.
