I'm not gonna believe she is permanent until I see that she has a new outfit. (though even then I won't be surprised to see her as a temporary)

Casey said that she will be a main character and that she will be able to join Shepard's team. Also, when listing confirmed squadmates in a tweet, he mentions Tali in the same sentence as Liara, the VS, Vega and Garrus.Runescapeguy9 wrote...
it is correct, though permanent is in the optional format of you choosing.GoG ToXiC wrote...
I read somewhere that she was confirmed as a permanent squad member. Someone please tell me that's correct
In addition to this, Jesse Houston said during a gameplay demo at E3 that Garrus won't be in your "squad" if he died during the suicide mission. He then went on to say "...same with Tali".
Judging from this I think that Tali will be be a full time squadmate that resides on the Normandy and can be choosen to be brought along on seperate missions, as opposed to a temperary squadmate that only accompanies you on certain missions (like Liara was in LotSB).

Bioware has made statements thus far stating that romances would be far more intricate, with love triangles and such. If Tali isn't a full squad member, than how can a romance have the depth that Bioware is shooting for if you only get her for part of the game?
In regards to Tali's face, I've read other threads where people said they don't want it to be revealed, because they want it to remain a mystery. I find that contradictory since with any mystery, they want to keep wondering, but never want to actually solve it. Also, whats the difference between an intentional mystery, and something as simple as not taking the time to design a characters face during concept designs? I'm not sure, but if they wanted to make a more effective mystery I think they should at least tease what quarians look like by giving a glimpse of something small like the back of a head, or a tear in a suit.
Some also say that no matter what people will be disappointed at what she looks like. I don't know about anyone else, but there are some races, and characters I don't really like [Turians look like giant Arthropods, like 80% of the races in the galaxy have ostrich legs (the only bipedal races I know of that don't are humans and asari)]. Regardless, none of that destroys the series for me. If I don't like the appearance, oh well I can learn to love it.
During the creating Garrus video, Derrek Watts said they were doing concepts, but that's about it. There is no guarantee that we will get to see it, but at least they have given it some thought.

Keeping Tali's face away from the fans who romanced her to uphold some contrived sense of "mystery", would be a very illogical move on the part of the writers.

I agree. If they don't show us her face, all Tali fans should riot and BW will have to show us her face in a special DLCCapt_Flashheart wrote...
I want to see Tali's face because it would be a significant moment for me. I didn't romance the suit, I romanced the girl inside the suit. I'd love to see her eyes and watch her smile, without a mask in the way, before Shepard's story is over. It's not about aesthetics, it's about affirming that I chose Tali for who she is and not because of her suit.

The results of this poll so far ate very telling. As of now, there are an equal number of people who don't want the face shown as there are people who want to see her face and it be alien-ish.
But twice the number of people in total want to see her face than those who don't.
The rage that would come from showing her face and having someone's personal image of what Tali looks like shattered would not last that long as those who really care about Tali don't care how she looks as long as she remains herself in character.
The rage that would come from not showing the face would, in my eyes, last longer, at least until they show us her face.
Basically, those who truly like her will accept how she looks if they do show it, and will accept the fact that they didn't show us if they don't. That being the case, not everyone thinks like that, and some just want to see a Quarians face. I don't think it would be proper if we just saw another Quarian's face though, as there should be no reason why it wouldn't be Tali.
Shepard knows what she looks like. So should we.

Until we get more info on this, we can't count on the usual definition of permanent squads.

Guys for all the in depth analysis of why Tali WILL be a full squaddie, we have to remember that the dev team has been going out of their way to hint that "permanent" doesnt mean the same thing in ME3.

True, but what would be the point with "deeper relationships" if one of these characters, you're supposed to have deeper relationship, is not available or near your Shep most of the time?
No, I think that this "no one is permenent" means just something like all characters are going to live from Normandy to do something. It's like LM, except this time Shep is not going to help them or that he/she can't help them right away. However I tthink that these missions differ from ME2 in that characters could actually die during this their own missions, if some prerequisite are not filled and if Shep won't come in time to help them out. So, basically characters every "permanent" characters are not permanent like in ME1 and 2, because they will leave to do something their own and that it's possible that they could die.

Man, the way they word it, they make it sound like they're afraid of you guys. I personally think they're just cautious about making a change that will let a lot of people down (not just you folks in Club Maskmancer). I mean, it's not like you'll actually release anthrax into the vents if they botch it, right?Webkahve wrote...
now thanx to Casey, Bioware's hesitation about revealing Tali is everywhere with reference to his words:

They must show her this time,
or I want compensation, like a Dancing-Tali-Hologram upgrade for my omni tool which can be watched in any non-combat situation during the game,
and a house for Tali in rannoch(can be a small one)...
