a few days ago I would've given you a very pessimistic response...

but since there's a mandatory Day 1 patch, I'm going to presume that the patch will "fix" that (more like put it back) since they knew that people would be digging into the files and leaking stuff like that.

even if that's the case, they still need to patch the game anyway since they said that they're going to make race unlocks in MP easier to get...so maybe they can sneak that tweak in there...maybe..

while I'm more optimistic than I was before, I'm still not hanging on the hope that the patch will fix things is true.....just that it's possible...

There is an author on Fanfiction.net who is creating a Halo/Mass Effect story with a poll on who is to be Master Chief's love interest. Even with only two chapters up so far, her has impressed me with how seamless he made it work so far and I can only hope it continues. I adore Tali, and although I am not very familliar with the Halo story and lore, I don't think that she and MC would make a good couple. He's not the same sort of born leader qualities as Shepard, nor does he have anywhere near the same sheer compassion for his crew that Paragon Shepard has (and quite frankly, I've always felt that Paragon Shep was a much better match for Tali then Renegade Shep). I just don't think that it works.

As a matter of fact, I don't think that any of them really work for MC. Maybe Ashley or even Liara, but Miranda would try to control him and that would probably end up with one of them getting killed, Shepard barely got through to Jack so there is no way that MC could come anywhere close, I just don't see how any of the ME2 LIs would work. Ash is at least another straight up disciplined soldier who can look at him on equal grounds and wouldn't long for a more romantic relationship, and Liara is tough enough to look him in the eyes (figuratively speaking, I think that MC is what, 7 feet or something?) while still having a sort of healing quality to her that might possibly help with certain things.

The main difference I suppose is that, Shepard is a great soldier but he is also so much more. MC is nothing but a great soldier. Tali would never work with him. I don't think so at least.

On the other hand, that is just the impression that I got of MC after playing one game and nothing else. He might be entirely different then what I am saying if I looked deeper into him.

You should look deeper, there is far more to the Chief then mindless killing machine. If you really look at the Halo lore, John-117 is like a silent Shepard. He lets his actions do most of the talking. As for a Tali/Chief pairing in this fic (Shep is female so no conflict of interest), it's all about the plot material potential. Sure there will be some uneasiness with interacting with aliens but not as much as some people believe. There is no room for such petty thoughts in the Chief's mind, at least not in any significant amounts. Tali and John-117 have so much in common, a few are: they are both loyal to those that earn their loyalty, both have a strong sense of duty, and also, both have yet to show their faces to us. the common ground that both live in their suits is evedent as well. They're not meant to be perfect for each other right off the bat, it's all about the build up to the relationship and the character growth that acompanies it.

Gotta agree with the above. I think they just paired them off as an easy way to slam the door on trying to romance them in 3 if you didn't in 2.

I agree with the Tali/Reegar idea in theory but i know the second i see Reegar getting emotionally close to Tali, im gonna find some way to kill him

Eh i guess i'll have to romance tali for everyone of my playthroughs... then it won't be a problem

Tali developed as a character Garrus yes if you para'd him did reset.

But being on the outside of the debate they did do Tali's interest in shep well. When Kelly told me she liked me I thought well thats cute but I figured it'd go no further but then she actually said so. She was believable because in ME she was younger and more obsessed with finding a gift for her home then dating she later obtained what she wanted and like any good character after obtaining their goal they do other things they progress she progressed in not only taking on duties she didn't but also relaxing and being able to love someone. I was never part of the campaign of these two and didn't even know about it till I came on the boards nothing seemed contrived or fan service about Tali's romance.

Garrus digressed as a character he was focus on his work too obsessed to love anyone then in 2 if you para him he's backsliding into a murdering stalker. His interest in shep isn't as well done as Tali's because it feels like he's trying because shep wants to only not because he loves her its more like a verbal shrug of the shoulders with him.

tbh though, none of the Mass Effect romances are really THAT well done (in terms of believability), given the time-frame that they happen. Headcanon'ing is kind of required.

3 conversations and then snu-snu and ilu bby 5ever isn't realistic or believable...
