a reckless criminal that has gotten a lot of reckless criminals killed...yes

Uh, no, not really. He killed a lot of people who represented the only stabilizing force Omega had and got is own team killed in the process.

He did nobody any good. All he did was rack up a body count.

It's sadistic.

Which is why they called him Archangel.

what stabilizing force? The ruthless merc groups shown in ME2? The ones that extort the poor and weak and kill without remorse?

Yes, he did get his team killed. However, most of their deaths were on Sidonis' head.

He ended up not doing as much lasting good as he thought because problems of Omega's caliber are ingrained into its culture and a sniper won't fix things like that. However, he DID make a difference, however marginal. For every murderer he killed, he saved all of the lives that would've been threatened by that person, for example.

I never met a single civilian on Omega who hated the gangs. Funny how that works out. On the contrary the civilians we did talk to, such as the ones in the plague district, were quite content to have the Blue Suns running things. They were even sorry to see them go.

In their own words, "The Suns kept things nice and stable..."

So I'm not so sure that Garrus' nickname was one of honor and reverence and not merely one of mockery.

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure they weren't so fond of the blood pack and Eclipse. The suns weren't good people at all but they were the lesser of the three evils.

I'm sure those people who starved to death after being locked in their homes by the Suns just adored them.

Yeah. Looks like it's tied already to our account through Origin, since I didn't have to enter a key here.

But I'm not changing my custom Shep face. And no he's not Fist., I've seen him in the same scene with Fist, Fist is different -mouth scar, different jaw, etc.- and whinny. Also dead, because I brought Wrex with me everytime. Image IPB
Not to mention I had created the face before I knew what Fist looked like.

Harsh, but necessary. The same thing would be done by the Alliance or even any real-life government to prevent the spread of a highly contagious disease. What the Suns did in those cases was justified.

(though not the outright murder of human civilians)

because you've personally spoken to every single individual on the station right?

Having the Blue Suns govern the district is like having the Mafia run your district. As long as you pay up, you're fine. If you don't or you have something they want, you die. Stable and consistent yes, but not good.

And I love how you were giving **** to Lia'Vael a couple pages back for breaking the implied and insane law of just existing on the Citadel without any residence but find it perfectly fine that Space Yakuza is running the show and call someone who decided to do something about their cruelty foolish.

as for Garrus' nickname

Ohhh, I get it. I'm somehow not being fair when I base my stance off of my own experience in the game rather than just taking Garrus at his word?

Sorry, but you need to wake up. Garrus needs to as well. He was not doing any good. Killing mercs on Omega does not benefit the people on Omega. All it does is furthe destabilize the station.

If the Suns and Eclipse and whomever are weakened, do you think a responsible and civil government is gonna spring up? No really, tell me.

All that I've heard (from various forums) is that we'll either get to see her face after the pic I posted, or she hands us a photograph of herself but her face gets blocked out by a lense flare.  I can't verify either of them.

No, I was merely "criticizing" your word choice. We're both just going off of one individual's take on the issue anyway and there are always multiple sides to every story.

Just because he failed to completely restructure Omega's broken society does not mean he didn't do any good.

of course not, I never said there would and i apologize if I implied it. However his intentions weren't to completely eradicate the merc groups, just to make them think twice before they use their power to commit crimes against the innocent, which he DID make progress towards even if it was temporary. This was Garrus' biggest failure, IMHO. He simply acted without thinking of the consequences or enacting an actual solution. If he had coupled his efforts with a long term plan to make sure that the innocent were protected, it would've been much better.

However that still doesn't negate the good he did. Just because he failed doesn't mean he didn't do anything positive. You grade...well...everything (from what I've seen so far) on a Sink or Swim scale.

I think it's pretty weak that Tali jumps off. I was expecting her to jump into a pile of Geth and start shooting every one of them before they kill her. But I guess Bioware was too lazy to put that cutscene in.

There is nothing to criticize. It is accurate. You will not find any civilians in-game who say they hate the gangs or that they love Archangel. That sentiment only comes from Garrus himself, who for all we know is being sarcastic and pittying himself.

Just because he failed to completely restructure Omega's broken society does not mean he didn't do any good.

He did less than fail to build a safe society: he added to the chaos and had nothing to show for it. He never would have had anything to show for it. A small squad of commandoes is not going to take over a large metropolis like that. The fate of Garrus' squad was inevitable. The mercs had more money, more people, more firepower, and more influence.

His squad's crusade was bloody and futile one. A lot of the people killed by them did not deserve it, I guarantee you.

The squad spent all their time disrupting meeting, attacking supply shipments, and attempting assassinations. At what point were they ever defending the people of Omega? The only objectively good thing they ever did was stop Eclipse from shipping tainted eezo (which was reaching the Citadel). Otherwise all they did was raise hell.

I hope the mods use their newfound power to ban all the trolls who come here just to, y'know, troll the thread. It should be pretty easy to pick them out of the crowd.

Optionally, not "canon".

Which, after this game, is up for grabs anyway.
