As far as you have seen? We have no information on the Quarian lifespan. Unless you witnessed some natural Quarian deaths that I have missed.

Alas no, Quarians cannot adjust to the environment naturally with time. Tali herself said it would take gene therapy to adapt, and that was alongside the 60 and 600 number she gave.

Edit: How does everyone else think it should happen?

I think that your second idea, the one that takes place on the return to Rannoch, is a great idea.

I have another idea that depends a bit on plot. Basically, assuming that Kai Leng is going to be set on you, Kai Leng takes your LI hotage in order to draw you out.
There is a bit of a cinematic where he holds your LI with a gun to his/her head and says a few things (there is not Paragon/Renegade 'press to win' thing here) that would eventually end with him saying something like "You can't save everyone." before injuring your LI. In the case of Tali, it would involve a visor smashing.
At this point you have a battle that, depending on how fast it takes you to win, will determine weather or not you LI dies from the wounds inflicted.
If Shepard takes too long you het a heartfelt scene where the LI dies in your arms.
If Shepard finishes the fight fast, the final blow would end with a short cinematic with Shepard rushing to save his/her LI, with Kai saying something like "Why do you bother, Shepard? [if alien LI] You're stronger without him/her. You can't save him/her." To which Shepard simply says "I can try" or "watch me" before rushing off with the LI in his/her arms to bring them to a medical bay.

That's what I thought up, but I don't really know how well it would be until it works.
I just want to have a scene where someone tells Shepard that he "can't save everyone"
where you have a paragon option of replying "I can try." and a renegade option of replying "watch me."

Hmm, something like this could actually work as way to show Tali's face and at the same time force the issue upon us. And it sure would be one of those emotionals moments, BW had said there are going to be.

Though if they actually do something like this, I just somehow think that they wouldn't still show Tali's face completely if not all. It would be more teasing. It sure would be nice way to first tease everyone and make them think that they still aren't going to show her face, even with perfect opportunity, before they then show it at the end of the game or something like that.

A Tweet from the king himself.

Will we show Tali's face in #ME3? We locked down our approach long ago, but you'll have to wait until March to find out what it is

Marketing, good Sir. Marketing.

I was also thinking of how to approach it. After the events of ME2, maybe she just decides to make her face-plate...transparent? I guess that'd be a little anti-climatic.

If they only do a partial reveal, I'm still 90% sure that the entire face would be in the game files, so modders would be able to both view the whole face and possibly mod it so that the face is visible all the time.

Maybe a nice goodbye scene at the beginning of ME3 where she thinks Shepard is goin to earth to become the Batarian scapegoat?

The information if from small tidbits of information through out the first two games and such, so if you missed something it might not make much sense. The quarians might be able to adjust to that enviroment with time as we still have little information on their homeplanet which is uniqe even amoung the many in the ME galaxy, even the quarians have only limited information on their own home and lets not forget Legion mention that the geth were keeping the planet safe for them but you never know what they could have done to it. Remeber in the world of makebelieve anything can and will happen, can anyone say Teddy Bear Reaper.

Also the 60 and 600 year thing was ment as a difference between the quarians settling down on their own home planet(the 60 years) or something else (the 600 years) in which case depending on how their physiology works they could adjust with it over time with in one lifespan and no I'm not saying without medicnal help.

So (not angry, I'm just asking) you think that a quarian can manage a way to stay a few hours out of the suit for sexual activities and survive, but that spending a pair of minutes to breath the air of his/her homeworld will be deadly or fatally compromise his/her health?

Indeed. Especially if you think that all Quarians had to expose themselves to Rannoch air, bacteria and everything else, if they ever want reacclimate back to their native environment. And it sure would be counterproductive, if they would die from smallest expose.

Sure they could and most likely would die, if they would have long time exposure without any sort of treatment or precaution. But short time exposure won't kill them. Quite contrary it will help Quarians in the long run.

Yeah, but it would be epic move from BW. First they make a lot of fans real pissed off and make them ready to start another raging episode in BSN and other web pages. And then silencing everyone at the end, when people thought it was already over.

Something like BW would put the final cut scene or something with people's LI's after the end credits.

Then on to how or what is the best way to it. I think that it would be best way to show Tali's and other Quarians faces, when they had got their home world back. It would really be sympolic and important moment for Quarians. Though I think that even setting a foot on the surface of their home world is probably more than enough for many of them, so removing their mask is not necessary.

Ah, I see what you are saying. You think that these are two important moments in the game, and putting them together would be too much for a single scene, or perhaps one would take away from the significance of the other? Yes, maybe they should have their own individual scenes.

PhantomSpectre wrote...

In Tali's case, I think that the best, most symbolic and emotional moment to remove her mask would be, when she would set her foot on her new home on the home world. After all it was something her father promised to build for her and if she would finally got it, it would most likely be one of the most important moments in her life. Especially if Tali was your Shep's LI and he helped to build that new home. It would be so meaningful moment to remove her mask then. Sign of new beginning.

Nicely done! So, you have one scene where the quarian race gets their homeworld back, and another which is more personal to the player!

PhantomSpectre wrote...

Then there is that possibility that Tali was not your Shep's LI, but just a friend or even less than that. Somehow I think that if Tali was not your Shep's LI in either ME2 and ME3 or if you just romanced her during ME3, chances to see Tali's face are lesser. And it sure would be bold move from BW, if they would show Tali's face only if Tali was players romance option. Otherwise you wouldn't see it at all.

I hadn't thought of all those combinations! Maybe it would be better 'if' Tali would only reveal her face to those who have made the extra effort of maintaining her as a LI throughout the series. It would be a fitting reward to her fans.

It would be a nice thought, but I have a feeling that if the face reveal does happen, they are going to have a high polygon count version of Tali, just to get the detail into it, and would only be available during the 'reveal' scene. Outside of that, I guess BW will just use the 'placeholder' version that they usually have in the standard Tali model. However, if Tali's face is not polygon intensive, it could happen! It would be fun to have something on the character select screen that changes the opacity of her mask.

Yes, of course, I was thinking more from a lore standpoint.

Simple. It's there to give privacy to Quarians in their otherwise social culture. With lot of Quarians in small area, that opacity mask still gives chance to feel some form of personal privacy, when other people can't outright see your face.

maybe quarians see their masks as clear but understand that other species dont have the same eyes that they do.

Like, they can see different or additional wavelengths of light, compared to humans?

Phantom is correct, the 'given' reason is for privacy. If they started out opaque is another question, though.

That's is what I was getting at! :pinched: If you don't want to see her face then you might as well disconnect the internet cause it's gonna be everywhere.
