The relays get destroyed in the Control ending, too, I'm afraid.

No they are not destroyed...but well there is room for debate.

Basically in all endings the Citadel Emits a wave that hits Earth, and depending on your choice this has different consequences. However in Destroy/Synthesis the Citadel ALSO fires a beam at the Charon Relay that blows it up after it charges up, gets damaged in the process and then fires it to the next relay

In Control the Citadel does NOT fire the beam, it does not get destroyed as you well know. Instead the wave that was emitted earlier hits Charon, Charon charges up and we see it damaged but we do NOT see it blown to pieces after it fires like in Destroy/Synthesis.

Changing the cinematic was a deliberate act, so while it's not a certainity that the Relays aren't destroyed there, it's a possibility.

Thanks for the correction, Costin. The ending is a bit of a blur to me. It all kind of came out of nowhere, you know? By the time I had to make my choice I could barely remember what the little kid had said about them.

If BioWare picks a canon ending for future games I hope it's not the Destroy one (sorry, Shep!). What Tali said about how the geth had started helping the quarians was fascinating, and I'm dying to know where that leads.

Since future games won't focus on Shepard they would be more likely to pick the one that maximizes the material avaliable to them.

Though, totally had to pick the destroy ending. Self-determination is preferable to forced synthetic components or enslaving entire civilizations contained in the reapers. Doesn't hurt that I get to make Shepard live and head canon a Tali reunion.

Destruction has a lot going for it, but I just couldn't pull the trigger after Legion gave himself up to turn the geth into real boys (f yeah Pinocchio reference). Synthesis had a potential for major squick factor. The Control option I feared would turn Shep into a Barrier Maiden, forever holding the Reapers at bay through sheer force of will, but mercifully it seems like he just got to die.

I don't think he "died" as we consider it. I think he became the Catalyst, taking over it's role, and now Shepard determines what the Reapers will do.

Destroy is not a stupid ending, but I think it's foolish to pick.Then again I view picking the Deus Ex: HR suicide ending as just as foolish. Oh yeah give people the choice to determine their own future...well I don't care. My Shepard took the Reapers and will now forge to Galaxy the way he wants to.

The first one. That made the fight with reaper so much more intense and meaningful after hearing Tali say that to you.

What was more satisfying than punching the Admiral in the stomach after he tried to blow up the ship with us in it? That was /so/ satisfying. And it wasn't because he was trying to blow up the ship with Me/Shep in it. It was because he was trying to blow up the ship with Tali in it. If tali weren't with me.. It still would've been a big deal but.. I think he may not have gotten punched. But I remember saying.. This guy is /so/ getting his ass kicked when I get out of this damn ship! Not knowing that I'd actually get a chance to hit the guy.. So when I saw that renegade interrupt pop up.. Man, no hesitation in hitting it.


Also.. yes.. The I love you before the reaper boss. That was...epic.

The three dialoges were perfect, it shows how close they are but for me is between the "I love you" and the "I want more time" epic love

Regarding the ending: this is what Bioware could expand on, but right now I interpret it as...

During the Citadel mission, the Normandy comes to Earth, picks up the squad in preperation for one last push to support the Crucible, but then the shockwave goes out and Joker goes "oh shiiii...."

well I checked in the video folder and there is a vid where they show you part of the room where shepard was and the room is in ruins, then they show you shepard's body and seconds before vid finish, shepard just start breathing, sooooo he is alive.
Now is Bioware chance to create a Rescue Mission DLC, save Shepard and bring it to wherever Tali, Garrus and Joker are, and there we have our happy ending. Did you get the idea Bioware?

I used her and Garrus as squadmates in my last mission, after the beam I saw garrus bleeding on the floor and the first thing I though was "where is Tali !!" I couldn't find her, the husks were coming and I was looking for her lol, but she wasn't there. Anyway I guess Garrus gets killed cause I didn't have enough war assets.

Tali and Garrus were on my squad as we charged the conduit. After Harbinger blasted us, I couldn't see neither of them on ground but I assumed Garrus was among the pile because at the end only Tali, Joker and EDI exit the Normandy on the unknown planet. Tali was my LI which probably why she survived.

I liked the ending, and either way I don't dwell over fictional characters. Shepard and Tali did have a good run. Instead of focusing time that is lost, one should focus on what they had together. Which was quite good in a turbulent galaxy.

I have to agree on that, quite strongly. As I said before though. Control gives the possibility of the Relays not being destroyed, it's not certain but I have strong reasons to believe it is indeed the case.

So to me Shepard giving up his own life, his own soul to take over the Reapers as the new Catalyst, end the Cycle and preserve the Galaxy, including allowing the Quarian Fleet to return home....well if that's not a measure of him showing his love for Tali I am not sure what is.

So yes, I did it for her in part and for the Galaxy. It's a tragic ending, but it's very fitting for me.
