okay then...... yeah it makes more sense to have tali watching your back with a scope, just watching her take off on the frontline to gun an enemy down just screams suit punctures and death. I understand being trained in CQC but still.

Supposedly squadmates will be able to use a more diverse lineup of weapons in ME3. I will (hopefully) be sticking with the shotgun for Tali.

As far as I know (at the moment) you'll be able to actually choose the weapons for your squad. The difference here makes the classes the squadmates have. An engineer or an adept can't carry as many weapons as a soldier or a vanguard for instance. That said, I wouldn't equip Tali for just close combat.

Awww! I never knew you could get the poker game option with Tali included. I've got the 360 version, so I have to wait *way* after Omega to recruit our beloved Quarian. Dang it...

Ah yes. I heard something about there were complaints about the weapon restrictions in ME2, compared to ME1 where you could equip your squadmates with any weapon, even though they weren't trained to use it. So, for ME3 I understand they will be employing a similar system as ME1 where squadmates can be equiped with 'any' weapon again.

There was a good point made earlier, about why would Tali use a (short range) shotgun with the danger of suit punctures. Maybe if she can use any weapon in ME3, she should use the sniper rifle. But, for me, it just wouldn't seem right. She seems to 'want' to get up close and personal and do as much damage as possible. In ME1 when Tali had a good shotgun, she would take out most of the Geth before I even knew where they were!

Maybe that is why she uses a shotgun. It is powerful and can take out most things quickly. I guess the faster something is taken out, the less time they have to shoot back and puncture her suit?

Well I think that the game version doesn't affect here. Just don't speak with either Ken or Gabby after getting that FBA coupling from Omega. Just wait until you have recruited Tali and then speak with either of them. And you have poker game for four.

So all you need to is wait a little while before completing that particular assignment, if want Tali in the game too.

Allegedly, there is audio on the disk of ME1 of Tali being a LI (I saw it on one of these forums a few days ago). I guess it was taken out for balancing reasons, i.e. ManShep would have had three people available to him as LI options, while (I believe) there was only two for FemShep. Alternatively, maybe Bioware tried to keep LI's only for near human-human relations (Liara being very close to human), and thought that having romance options for distinctly 'alien' races would have been too much for players at that time. But since ME1's release, players don't seemed to have had a problem with LI's being 'alien' (Garrus seems to be doing well out of it). In one sense, it hasn't done Tali any harm, and may have worked in her favour!

Actually the official reason why Tali wasn't a LI was because Bioware didn't think anyone would want to romance the girl with the chicken feet.

I kinda assume that this is coupled with time constraints, but still thats the official reason.

Some characteristics of someone always catches your eyes when you first see them. when i first played ME1 and saw tali for the first time it wasn't the helmet the metal arm piece it was definitely those chicken feet!
