Although I'm not sold on the shear thickness of the asari-esque head flanges here, I must say this is a brilliant job.  Although I'm really surprised that many haven't pointed out that this is a version based on this picture, which when it first showed up became a bit of a fan favourite amongst us if I recall:

I did start work on a Tali sculpture a while ago, but when I moved to uni I sort of lost the maquette scale drawing.  I'll try to find it again as I doubt I'll be able to draw it again to exactly the same scale as before.

Both images are cool. I would not have any problems with Tali looking like that except, perhaps, the asari-like head flanges. She looks quite human but at the same time not so human.. fits perfectly.

The stock photoshop was bad.. I mean, she looks great, but the fingers kind of ruined it. And a few other details as well, like the hair. I don't think Quarians should have long hair. On that aspect, these pictures are fantastic.

Really lazy job on BioWare.

Fanfics are a tricky one for me, good ones can be absoloutely fantastic, whilst bad ones are truly atrocious.  Still over the last couple of years I've worked out a good system for finding good ones, it's definitely not perfect as it excludes almost all new works, but it's pretty solid in terms of reliability.

Naturally first I check the main things I want from the story (relationship arc, main story etc).  Next step is to sort by length.  My reason for this is that more often than not, the longer stories are of higher quality.  Usually this is because the author had a proper plan and didn't "wing it", and/or they have a lot more feedback meaning they can make style improvements.  This makes finding new, fresh work tough, but it certainly helps keep the really good ones in the net.  It's a shame that none of my favourite authors have updated for ME3 yet (assuming they will eventually) as I'm really looking forward to their interpretations.  It's also sad to see some of the really promising stories be cancelled thanks to either a lack of motivation (after all it's not easy work), writers block or events being contradicted by a new game release (To Survive being a superlative example here).

I would love to contribute, and whilst I'm a pretty decent writer, I know that I wouldn't be able to continue a series properly, resulting in unhappy readers :(

You must be confused...it was a cerberus soldier breaking into the normandy via skylight (Which never made it into the game btw, as far as I can tell).  I have the concept art book from the collectors edition to prove it.

Agreed. Longer stories generally means higher quality. But I don't know.. I saw some fanfics that were made by some pretty good authors (good ratings, lots of views, etc.) that were indeed great, but portrayed the characters in a way that I couldn't agree.

The one cool fanfic I read - that I can't remember the name, unfortunately - started with how Tali spent the 2 years after Shepard's death. They way the author described the flotilla, Tali's feelings and relationship with the other Quarians was simply fantastic.

It had way more that 10 chapters as far as I can remember. Pity that I can't remember the author's name nor the novel Title.

pictures up there r looking terrible. God am I glad that they didn't choose this as Tali-face.

Found a fanfiction called "pilgrimage" http://browse.devian...fanfic#/d2w61hi

Must say I much prefer this design to the official one, although personally I'd make a few alterations if I were in charge.  IMO I find the face here to be certainly more adorable, I can, however, see why many would find it goes too far and is a little too alien.  I just think the official one is a little, boring?  I'm not one who wanted some out there concept but I found the final design to be a little close to home.

I understand where they were going with Tali and revealing her face. No matter what they did there would be a group angry so they chose the middle road I am guessing. Anyway that photo is really irrelevant to me regarding the whole build up from ME1 to 3. In ME1 she was a friend, it began to grow in ME2 and you see the progression nicely in 3 imho.

I found it important that Tali, who was a friend, trusted when Ash who was supposed to be much more basically dumped me without bothering to try and listen. I think others have mentioned here too that Tali and Shepherd's dynamic is one of mutual support. They are there for each other, always, in whatever way needed. And they understand the nature of duty, sacrifice, and trying to balance that with their own needs. It's why they work.

Rannoch itself shows it pretty strongly. I made peace, and Tali even though she was unsure decided to trust before it played out. It's what she does through the whole story - listens, trust, and supports. And when she needs the same she comes to you. Did anyone else take her to TIMs base? The way she reacts to those vids was great.

Nah.. it's not that one.

About the picture.. I kind of always fantasized that Quarians would have purple skin. I dunno why.. It just felt right. The only real problem I see with that design is the asari-esque look. Aside from that, it fits perfectly for me.

BioWare know the fans want it.

Remember, there would be plenty of people crying out fan service. Unfortunetly, BioWare will never risk it.

Technically everything after ME1 is fan service if you think about it.

EA: "Wait you want more? and you''ll pay money for it?"

*cracks whip*

EA: "Get on it ****es!"

"You are mine"

The way their relationship develops is way more profound than with Liara or Ashley.

And by the way, I just started playing ME2 again, yesterday. Have you guys noticed how the narrative of Mass Effect Genesis speaks of Liara? DAMN! WTF, BIOWARE?! Something like:

"I met Liara. An Asari Scientist and, like all asari, beautiful and blah blah blah..." :?

Genesis?  Ewww, I can't believe I got that, that was a waste of time.  There's no excuse for a playthrough of the first game. You want Genesis?  (Shows Sega Genesis console)  You can have Genesis.

I put Tali's life in my hands, and even though she was scared, I made peace with both the geth and the quarians.  I did take her to The Illusive Man's base, and I thought she would have more dialog, especially considering that the Illusive man seriously hurt her kind.  Then again, I felt that the squad members I took could have used more dialog anyways.

There's a crowd, myself included, who believe that Liara is practically the canon LI for Shepard. Then again, even that one Salarian (the race of asexuals) still find them physically attractive.

There should be no canon main character on a game you make your own decisions. Dragon Age was perfect in that sense.

But I agree. The writer obviously favor Liara.

I'm not saying it's a good thing, or even if I agree. It's just that the writers favor her so much, I wouldn't be surprised if Mass Effect 4 makes it so.

There is always a canon, sorry. Just like in KOTOR it is canonicly male jedi. This happens because as they release material outside the games they do need to use some of the details that could have only been decided by the player. So some things get shoehorned. Kind of like how Udina got canoned in. It all comes down to how *many* of your decisions end up having a canon.

Liara is likely considered canon because she is romancable by both genders from ME1 onward and avaliable in all three games (if you include DLC) as a romance option. You can also romance her for the first time in ME3 if you wanted (new players won't have access to Garrus or Tali). She's the most "accesible" romance over the course of the trilogy.

Man, I have not even reached Tali yet :( and I'm surprised at how bad alot of the interactions are. Met Miranda and I was wondering just WHO that person who looked like her was. Hoping that Tali is still Tali when I finally (damn you BW) get to her.

For the record:

"Still totally worth it."

Even if you didn't want to take a chance in Mass Effect 2.  I still thought it was awkward she would mention that even though I was worried that I would kill her in Mass Effect 2.  Guess the developers thought everyone would go for it, and there was no reason to just 'wait it out until the right time'.

Sure i wouldve loved to end with tali on rannoch, but hey i saved the goddamn galaxy did i not?
Its just too bad we only get a picture of her, id rather see her face in game.

Indeed. Once Tali sets her lovely three-toed feet back on the Normandy, the fun starts again in earnest. Three words: Geth dreadnought date.

I wish that pistol she gave me was lighter...or if I could leave her a box of chocolates where she left her pistol.  I'm sure she would love them...
