Honest to god, last night I had a dream which I can only describe as the ending that ME3 should have gotten.... then I woke up and felt nothing but bitterness and disappointment  when I realized it was just a dream and not the actual ending/s we got for real.

Dammit.... there's no final rescue of Shepard from the Citadel by his crew.... no watching the Reapers being destroying into a million bits by the Crucible's energy.... no final goodbye of the Normandy crew as each character goes their separate ways to rebuild their societies.... no spot on Rannoch where Shepard and Tali decide to build their house together :crying: Dammit....

I know. It's like they took every good thing about ME and destroyed it in the last 10 minutes. It's depressing how depressed it makes me.

As long as I get crew and romance closure. I'll be happy.
How do you guys view you're Mass Effect 3 crew.

Tali: Romance
Garrus: Best Friend
Kaiden: Like a Brother
Liara: Good caring friend
James: The friend who's trust you've earned.
EDI and Joker: The uplifting Cousin and his Synthetic Girlfriend.
Javik: The angry, yet sarcastic Prothean, who eventually becomes a friend.

That's how I view the main people of my crew in Mass Effect 3.

While on the subject of Tali's face, I just want to chime in with my two cents that I honestly do like the design of her official face - we all pretty much knew that quarian faces looked fairly human (hell, we knew this all the way back in ME1 from seeing Tali's face through her visor), plus it also explains why Tali would consider Shepard to be dashing and attractive ("Only the cute ones" indeed ^_^).

My problem, like a lot of us here, is in the execution.... it's a lazy photoshop job, plain and simple (did no one in BW actually think that people wouldn't find the original image online?) and it more or less confirms my suspicion that BW never intended to show Tali's face, but decided at the last minute to throw it in for those who romanced her. The additional fact that fans are correcting elements of the image that should've been done in the first place (like correcting the anatomy of her hand) doesn't help things either.

Talimance is my next playthrough of the trilogy after I see the Liaramance for the first time.

Gotta save the best for last.

Re: The Ending

I'm not going to argue about whether it was "good," or "bad." I'm not going to argue about my opinion of the movement. But bear in mind this.

Red option. 5000+ EMS. Shep lives. Tali lives. Relays down? Sure.

But Tali? She's in the Sol System. Hell, she's probably on Earth or in a very nearby system. The Normandy wasn't going through a relay, it just got blasted by the Crucible. So maybe Tali, and Joker and crew are on a nearby planetary system, or hell, maybe they really just fell to Earth. I'm sure Earth still has a few unpopulated areas.

If Bioware doesn't add an ending DLC (honestly, hope they don't, not because I don't think more closure is welcome, but because with the amount of people acting in poor taste regarding the mess....) there's your head canon. Shepard is recovered, he finds out that his crew is on Earth.

Tali: Best soulmate and lover to-date ever. Resistance is futile.
Garrus: Best War Buddy and calibrator.
Kaiden: R.I.P.
Liara: Intelligent
EDI and Joker: Revolutionary intelligence and a invaluable, yet crippled asset.
Javik: Cold, but adaptable. Throws stuff out the airlock for fun. Might tempt him to throw EDI out the airlock as a prank to Joker.
James: If only you could take a third squadmate...
Jack: Good to see her again. I guess.
Legion: There will always be a bit of legion in all geth. He will always be remembered.
Kasumi: Nice skin, sneaky, wish she was a possible LI for those players who are interested. Oh, and how's that greybox?
Zaheed: So much for retirement. Though you can come with Shepard as im sure he's about to retire after the reaper war is over.
Thane: R.I.P at collectors base. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten, Morpheus.
Miranda: R.I.P.
Jacob: A new beginning. Come see me at my retirement party, man!
Mordin: He is the very model of a scientist Salarian. R.I.P.
Wrex: Tyrannosaurus Wrex. He's gonna eat you. Will always remember me as the savior of his people.

I honestly think that ME3 is the only game (or any other entertainment like movies or books for that matter I believe) that has actually reduced me to tears.  Seeing each character that I love fall (Thane, Legion, Mordin and my previous Normandy crew) was both distressing and beautiful at the same time.  This is why I love the prospect of games as a story telling medium.  They can have the length and depth of a book, but have the added bonuses of having music (probably the most emotional driving force), character vocals and also visuals to help prevent misconception.  Even something as simple as looking at the memorial wall when Tali was there (which happened to be when I noticed it too) broke me down.  I accidentally let the rest of my crew perish as I didn't start the suicide misssion in ME2 on time.  Seeing all their names on the list genuinely made me feel like I failed them, and struck home the importance of making the right decisions.

Even now, thanks to all these tragic moments and the ending (boy I was sad after that, and mostly for the wrong reasons :( ) I now associate utter sadness with all of the Clint Mansell songs in the soundtrack.  That man is a legend, the music which he aided with is just dripping with emotion, I can't listen to it without really feeling down (and I'm usually quite stoic and clinical when it comes to sadness).

I agree. The bad moments in ME3 were bad, sure, but they were detailed. Just how you should actually feel hate for a enemy, you should feel sorrow for a tragic event. They did a good job detailing Tali's romance, and I still shudder whenever I hear her say, "I want...more...time." I never thought I would ever get so emotional with a 'realistic' fictional character, let alone love one.  It's amazing how fragile her relationship can be even if you don't love her; she can snap as easily as a twig, yet can usually be protected with ease.

As for the music; I still feel that the first Mass Effect has the best music out there in the series.  Two had some unique music, as did three.  I swear to god when I was playing three, I heard a hint of unreal tournament music at the base in mars.  And now im listening to Unreal Tournament as it's better than the near non-existant music in multiplayer.

Tali does indeed make me emotional... there were many points in which I feared for her life. (geth/quarian battle, final push to citadel beam, probably more)
agree with you on how surprising it is to think that it's a video game, yet "real".

Funny, I actually didn't like the music much in either ME1 no ME2.  I liked the theme it set, but the individual pieces I found to be a little bland and didn't add too much.  Roll in ME3 and suddenly things have a feel to them.  I still think a lot of the music is a little bland, but most of that is background in missions so not exactly pivotal.

-Tali stares in horr as the remains of the citadel start re-entering the atmosphere close to london.
"No..." She sobs, tears running down her cheeks behind her visor.
"Tali, I'm sor" Garrus is cut off by Major Cotes bursting through the door
(panting) "We found them!"  (points at med-tent down the street)  "In a fragment of the prisidium that-" he is cut off as Tali sprints past him.

-Dramatic sequence of her pushing people out of the way to the central biobed.

-Shepard's badly burned body lies still on the bed showing little sign of life besides his rapidly darting eyes
Dr. Chakwas "Where's that morphine?"
Shep: "Tali... " is all he can say, a small smile grew before passing out from the senitives.
"We have to get this armor off, all non-medical personel; we need this area cleared."

Idunno...there were quite a few songs that got me pumped in ME2. This one in particular when it comes to Tali. Near the end is also the music that is used on the suicide mission with the vents. I remember going, "You WILL NOT die on my watch, Tali! HARBINGER, GET OUTTA MY WAY!"

I also love the Overlord DLC's combat music as well as Kasumi's and LotSB's. In ME3 though there's a ton I love as well.

See to me that just sounds a little, generic.  It fits the mission because of that feel though; "we have to rescue somebody" so add a countdown feel to make it seem like there's a time limit, harsh sounds for urgency, quick tempo to get some adrenaline going etc.  It's not that it's bad music IMO, in fact it's very well implemented as it gets the point accross.  There's just some factor that seems missing, that's all.  It's the same for most game and movie soundtracks, most of it will be generic background filler, then you have a couple of signature themes and songs that really hit home.
Naturally everybody judges things in different ways, but how I judge a soundtrack is "how many songs can I listen to happily outside of the game/movie".  A really good soundtrack will allow me to play out all the story elements in my head just by listening to it, for me a lot of the ME tunes just give me the feeling of "just kill a few more and I can get to the next part of the story".

Going a bit off topic there sorry, although I would be curious what a tune for Tali would be (as in one that just exdudes her personality and appeal).  That of course goes for all the main characters, but as my definite favourite character of course I'll put her first
