I actually wanted peace but it was either let Legion upload or dont. I didnt want to take the risk.

If you didn't have the paragon to "rally the fleet", you made the VERY right choice indeed.
I do not speak of the alternative.

No, I mean I chose to stop legion from uploading before I even had the option for peace.

Wait- what?

I played through that sceen twice choosing both options and I got the peace option each time.

Is it chosen in an earlier conversation?

You first have the options

Let Legion upload

Let Geth die

I chose the killing geth one to not take any risks. If you chose the upload one, you then get the option for peace.

So essentially, I let the geth all die before even having the dialogue option for peace.

Yeah, my first playthrough I chose let geth die because I was paraniod about Tali dieing thanks to spoilers and I still got peace option.

I destroyed the geth heretics in my playthrough and saved the adrimal that wanted peace if that might make a difference.

I was mad afterwards when I found out that I could have gotten peace but I picked the wrong dialogue option for it unfortunately.Oh well, I saved the quarians and thats really all that matters.

I do have one question regarding the implications of the Destroy option.

The Destroy option is said to destroy synthetic life. However, the Quarian Environmental Suits are regulated by VIs(at least that is how I interpreted the Post-Peace conversation with Tali). So... Destroy option not only manages to kill all Synthetics, but also manages to doom all Quarians to a slow, painful death...  Which means my Shepard effectively killed his love interest.

Another wonderful plothole to think about.

Tali's face was good enough for me.
"Tali" gave me the picture, and I accepted that. I was very happy about it (and still am).
Even if there was a lack of effort on Bioware's part.
I didn't know about the stock photo part until way afterwards, so idc about it.

It was a few pages ago but there was a good Tali fan made photo using the official face in her hood. <3
:wub:I am now completely fine with the Canon face of Tali. I don't care if it was lazy, this looks amazing. It should be animated.

VIs likely control the suits advanced functions, the basic life support functions are probably controled by programs too simple to be effected by the beam. Hell VIs are probably too simple for the beam.

Besides, they're quarians. They rely on their suits for their life so they undoutably got backups in place in the event of a VI failure in the suit.

You didn't get peace because you didn't meet the requirements. It doesn't matter what you pick for the initial dialogue choice, you always get a chance to make peace on the second dialogue, as long as the requirements are met.

I wanted/expected something more alien. Grunt back in ME2 said something about Quarian toughness... "Your soft, Asari, Salarian, all soft...Quarian not so much"

After that I kind of expected a plated-exoskeleton, more Turian or something. But instead I guess Quarians are different colored humans.

That does not make sense considering I had all the requirements. Im pretty sure, If you chose to let the geth die, you do not get the chance for peace if you choose it again.

How would the beam distinguish between VIs and other synthetics?  How exactly would it distinguish between anything synthetic really.  I mean the Catalyst even goes as far as saying "Even you are partly synthetic"(likely referring to all the augmentations that Shepard has), implying that part of him would be destroyed by the option as well...  Shepard isn't even so far sythetic as a basic VI would be, just basic synthetic augmentation.  My interpretation of the Destroy ending is that it basically wipes out all advanced technology.

Also, the quarians probably have safeguards to temporarily backup against a suit failure, but a scenario involving a permanent destruction of suit functionality has to be a death sentence...

We've always known that the Quarians were the most human-esque of the aliens. There are a couple of references to this in the franchise.

No.

That second dialogue, the one that shows actions contained in brackets, if the player had met the requirements for peace, there would be paragon/renegade options on the left.

No... they would be visable but greyed out on the left side. You would then see them as greyed out if you choose the upload option. You HAVE to pick letting them upload once in order to get the peace option next.

Man, it's been a while since I've been here. Did a majority of the Tali fans broker peace with the Geth or destroy them? (personally destroyed, never trusted Legion nor the Geth)

I went for peace. After meeting Legion and talking to him in ME2, my perspective changed for the geth. I didn't see a race of AIs that rebelled, I saw a race defending themselves for fear of being wiped out by their creators. The second I saw the ability to broker peace, I went for it. Much happiness was had. Tali lives() and the quarians stop being dumb and actually try not to kill the geth.

...I was sad to see what happened to Legion when he finished the code though...:crying:

Whoops. I think you're actually right there. As the rally/warn options take place during Legion's upload. Hmm... guess I just assumed that a similar chain of events took place. That would be rather confusing for someone who initially sides with the quarians...
Three different decisions...? :?

Indeed. My first time going through I didnt want to take any risks so I chose the `let the geth die` option and didnt even get the peace option.

I could understand multiple decisions if the situation were explained to you a bit more, but in those two moments you really get the feeling of "one of these races is going to die today". Should have made it so the peace option was on the second dialogue, like with supporting the Quarians.

I still believe in the hallucination/indoctrination theory and until there's news otherwise I'm holding the line.
