1. QEC is point to point, untracible, instantaneous communcations. If the unit on the Normandy lost power for even an millisecond, the device would be useless.TheWerdna wrote...
I stated this before, but i have a cunning plan for locating the Normandy crew
1) Establish communications with the Normandy. I would wager that it is possible for the QEC to still be functionin; which since it was connected to earth, would allow Shepard to communicate with the Normandy. Even if it is damaged, it could still possible to get a very weak signle through, which could help finding the Normandy's location
2) Using the established communication, try to pinpoint the Normandy's location. This could be done by tracing the signle of the QEC and/or having the Normandy crew send picture/observationss of the stars (thus getting a decent idea of what direction they are in) . Even if all that is acomplished is giving Shepard a basic idea of what direction they are in it will greatly increase the chances of success
3) Take a exploration vessle filled with fuel and food. As pointed out by Blind Bandit, unless the Normandy somehow got sent out further then the indended destination, the Normandy crew is likely no more then 36 light years away. Even if they were teleported somewhere else, it shouldn't takle too long to find them, mayve a week or so. If a decent idea of what direction they are in is established, I think Shepard has a prity good chance of locating them, and having enough fuel/food for the return trip.
4) Return to earth and live happily ever after...with a **** ton of other problems as a resault of the ending, but shut up, Tali and Shepard get to reunite and stay togeather.Physics here, not my opinion.
2. If it is still functional, yes. Pics of the local starfields could help pinpoint their location. Trouble is, the way BW retconned even how the relays work, can cause issues. If you recall, they were near instantaneous modes of transportation. (30 seconds is no where near instantaneous). So, the Normandy should have made it out of the relay if Arcturus was their destination but it seems as if they were traveling onward.
3. Arcturus is also well above the elliptical plane, making a very long straight flight. Could cause issues with discharging but greatly reducing the number of planets to search.
4. Bolded part the only actual important thing here in this entire post.
I am not saying it would be easy, just that it is not completely immpossible and it has a good chance of working. i believe there is just enough of a chance for this to work, and hey, Shepard has done what people have said were immpossible before. Everyone said it would be impossible to defeat the Reapers, how hard can finding the Normandy crew really be
Also for 2) the books state that the Primary relays (those that can be used to travel between several different locations) do not work instantaniously. Its only the secondary relays (which only go from point A to point
