May we suuggest more realistic depictions of "hips"...albeit with less "creepiness".

Slightly off topic... I know but, need to get it out somewhere


When this franchise first started, I snagged the game for my ol xbox, as my pc couldn't support the game at the time, and played the ever living sh*t out of it.  Like many of you I was always disappointed that I couldn't engage the quirky little quarian down in engineering in a romantic relationship but it didn't completely sour the hundreds of hours of enjoyment I got out of the game.  Even being able to get the Geth Data to give to her so she could go home after everything was all said and done, knowing I had in some way helped her complete her pilgramage was satisfying for me.

All that being said, I always played a soldier, and I always brought Liara and Tali with me where ever I went simply because of how well that balanced out the team, and when I reached the end of that first game, I felt like the story had been fullfilled.  I had done what I'd set out to do, regardless of which of the many versions I had played through that time, each and every ending was gratifying. (despite the lack of any Talimancing obviously) 

Never even stopped to think there would be a second game, let alone felt a need to seek out Fanfic to fill a void that didn't exist.  I had the game, if I missed all those characters, well, there was always, Create New Game.  When Mass Effect 2 came out, I was conflicted, mostly because of my university courses at the time, I knew would all take a serious hit if I bought and played the game, so I put it off, again, and again.  It wasn't until a year later when Illness more or less sidelined my schooling that I figured, maybe now might be a good time to pick up the game and give it a try.

I'd never once visited a site about the game, never once stepped in here to look at anything, so after buying the game and getting home, I realised with it being the pc version I'd have no saved games but I looked forward to seeing how they wanted the game to play out regardless.  Suffice to say, a lot of the choices were not ones I would have made.  Regardless, on my first play through of the canon copy I suppose it would be, maybe? I had snagged every bit of dlc available prior to starting, and after realising that Tali was in fact a potential love interest,(thank you to those of you who fought for that) I went after her to the point of excluding conversation with Miranda or Jack out of concern that I'd get a mass effect 1 style interupt of, Pick Shepard, Me or her!  And I personally couldn't bring myself to put Tali through that.  My Shep wanted her and just her, so that's how it was.

By the time I reached the end mission, I was loving the game just as much as I had 1, I knew full well that the moment I completed the game I would be instantly buying ME1 for the pc and starting a dozen or more play throughs to import into ME2 games given my dissatisfaction with some of the canon Shepard choices that carried over (who the hell kills Wrex? I mean, Come on!)  And of course overly greatful for the save game ability as I went in to this game blind, I didn't understand some key components, and despite 100% loyalty... Tali took a rocket and died in the opening sequence.... this was not allowed... reload, do-over... Tali's just not going out like that, end of story.

But still, despite all the variations on a theme, all the play through's I had created on the newly purchased ME1 that I imported into ME2 for hundreds more hours of entertainment, when all was said and done, I was Satisfied.  I didn't feel the need to seek out "more"  I didn't read the books, though I did head over to Darkhorse and track down the comics, very much enjoyed those.  And don't get me wrong, I'm an avid reader and have been for almost thirty years now, though I long ago grew tired of one off novels where everything comes to an end just after your finally starting to enjoy the characters.  So I went to series style books, Terry Goodkind, the late Robert Jordan, and anything by Terry Pratchett whether a collaboration or entirely his work to name a few.  Books that evolved their characters and gave you a chance to see more depth and growth as the series went on.

With all that said, I finally picked up the books a couple weeks before ME3 launched, as I was craving some ME while I waited for the release, and while I did enjoy them they mearly wetted my appetite for the main course to come.  With somewhere around 16 saved games from a Male Shep point of view and I think 2 to 4 from the FemShep point of view, on the off chance they did write out more this time around for the two different genders, I eagerly waited.

I know I don't need to reiterate what we're all feeling in some form or another about how this finished up, all I can say is when I finished this game, I went in blind, I had cut off all ties to these forums for fear of curiosity getting the better of me, and yes, I walked face first into that ending with expectations.  I had wanted to save my play through with Tali, I had wanted to delay the pleasure of playing that story line as long as possible to draw out my enjoyment of the conclusion of this epic story I had been writting through my choices.  So yes, I played through with Liara first.  To put it mildly, were I prone to mental issues, this probably would have been that one brick that broke the donkeys back.  For the first time ever playing an ME game... the ending brought no satisfaction, none, what so ever.  To that end, it even made me hesistant of starting up a new playthrough for the one story line I had been looking forward to just so I didn't have to say good bye to Tali on Earth, again.

I did, however, eventually wrestle myself into doing so, and I'm glad I did, the ingame photo is really a non-issue for me, lazy or otherwise, I have a face to put to the voice of the character.  The lack of ingame face time, that was a bit of a bone of contention for me.  All the lingering looks the other two "standard" options get while Tali is denied any was a rough go, but I know, for many of the other ME2 romances, others got far more screwed then those of us who just Loved Tali's character.  Which brings me to the point of this post I guess.

For the first time, being completely unsatisfied with how this ending, I've managed only two full play throughs, hours of multiplayer, some half assed playthroughs that I gave up on and went to check YouTube for the minor points I had started those playthroughs for anyway, but I have spent a lot of time going through these boards.  To that end, I want to say a big Thank you @knight5923 for all that you have written so far, and for all that you might yet write for those of us that need, something more, but don't have the ability to put word to page to describe it.  I just finished everything you've written so far, and have finally, since the 6th of march, found some satisfaction.

To that end, if anyone can point me to more Fanfic (preferably with Tali) for this series, I would be greatful.  I've already snagged and bookmarked the link a few posts up in regards to Adamo and look forward to reading the 31 chapters he or she has already written. 

Sorry for the length of the post folks, but its been boiling up for awhile now, and this seemed as safe a place to vent as any.  Even if no one reads, its always a bit cathartic to get it out in the open from time to time
