We have already adapted most Creator technology with Geth modifications.  However, we still require the help of a turian organic to correctly calibrate targeting capabilities.

Hey, Multus. If the whole Turian fleet had calibraters like Garrus, no reaper would've gotten close to Palaven.

I... don't see how beating the Reapers conventionally on Earth would change anything. The ones there are practically just a fraction of a larger invasion fleet spread throughout the galaxy.

This unit acknowledges destruction of Old Machine known as Harbinger would greatly decimate order among those who are supposed to bring order to the chaos.

We also acknowledge that since the Citadel was moved there by the Old Machines, it was only practical for the majority of the Old Machine fleet to be present at the final conflict.

Well, the citidel is there...and if they get away with their plan, they'll blow up all life using the citidel + nuke.  The only way that they can beat them at this point is to reconfigure the whole thing so it kills reapers only, and leaves everything intact.  It's funny in a way...I predicted that this would be the ending of Mass Effect 3 because of how large the reaper force is, and in a way, I may still be correct.

But anyways, im hoping for a final epic boss battle for the new ending.  Perhaps Harbinger will use the same tactic that sovereign did; transfer his essence to a corpse and fight Shepard's party.  I think that while Harbinger is aware of his death, he is not aware of how he died, which may be Shepard's only hope at defeating them.  Or it'll be a new type of boss battle, where everyone in Shepard's party combats enemies that are resurrected by the reapers and sent after them in the citidel.  Based on your resources and choices, the odds you face are either against or for you, with either party members dying or gaining the upper hand by killing the indoctrinated.  For once, I'd love to see Tali in a cutscene where she brutally murders someone that's indoctrinated with her boot knife.  Slice and dice...

Then there's a surprise battle at the end: After Shepard decides whether to preserve or destroy the reapers, either Anderson or Hackett will engage Shepard in a 1v1 melee battle, where you can use your melee skills to its fullest.  The twist is they're not indoctrinated; Anderson believes the technology should be destroyed, so that nobody else will fall victim to the reaper's schemes.  Hackett believes that the technology should be available for everyone in the galaxy to use, as that is how our future is built.  They will fight to the death against you to get their way.  In the end, though, you must decide whether to convince them of your way and let them live, or let them die.

And finally, after the space fireworks and your final decisions are made, you recover, get your rewards, take ownership of legal cerberus assets, and spend your remaining years builiding that home on Rannoch and living with Tali.

Although it's a well done pic, Tali with a starfish for her face isn't my ideal representation.

And we go again with the "no, we don't want a female turian face" discussion. I don't mind. Still, I would want a face resembling Ash Sroka for Tali. She would even willingly starr in a movie for Tali!

On a side note, 48k must be my best score on MP yet.

Seems to be the best move for the developers to make.  Ash poured her life into making Tali the way she is.  I don't see why she shouldn't be given that opportunity.

imo, a Tali face based on Ash Sroka would be perfectly acceptable....without the starfish of course.

It blows my mind. If this ending was intended... *shis*... this is the best videogamestory ever told.
But also shocking.  They would have selled us an uncomplete game to the price of a complete one.

The "gotcha" moment/twist would be well worth the $10-$20 USD for me. Mass Effect is worth it.

The main flaw I see with the indoctrination theory is that in the Final Hours of Mass Effect 3 app, which has a reasonable amount of behind the scenes, interviews etc, it's stated that Bioware were originally going to have indoctrination as one of the endings. However, due to technical difficulties between being controlled and dialogue choices, they decided to drop it.

As such with looming deadlines they just probably didn't have the time to remove all the indoctrination hints. What we all see as evidence is in fact merely the detritus of an abandoned goal, strewn around like the discarded burger wrappers of the gaming world.

Alas, thanks to that small revelation the indoc theory falls down for me. It's fits so well purely due to what they didn't have time to remove... I can only hope Bioware accede to the retake ME3 movement and include indoctrination again as a viable ending, as well as adding a happier one.

I still hold on to hope for that beachfront property, and Tali in a bikini...

No doubt, I would also buy it.

But this thing could take a dramatic scale on the whole industry.

I still think it could easily fit. From what I've read, yes, it says they removed it from the release when getting it to work became problematic. From a business perspective, this doesn't mean it was removed and discarded, but rather removed to make sure the rest of the game was polished enough for the release date. With the advent of DLC, I'm willing to bet that some exec could see this as an opportunity to make a cliffhanger, allowing time to refine the actual ending further and at the same time be able to charge additional money from consumers as a bonus.

This may not sit well for many people, but I don't see it as an "evil" or "greedy" thing to do. The objective of a business is to make money, but not all of that additional cash gets funneled directly into profits. It also pays the workers who slave away at creating the product, giving them money to eat and pay their own bills.

In my technocratic mind it would be enough to get Tali or EDI to reprogram the signal to off their targeting. Alternatively shut down the Citadel's control signal, enabling the Reapers to both explore their free will and get into a heavy disarray by missing the lead command. Taking Harbinger out would be the next logical step, especially since he's seperated and since Shield has docked the Crucible and the Citadel would not be attacked by the Reapers, they could completely move in towards Harbinger.

Or at least a Grab. I like those, they're stylish alright. And a cut where front by front your friends are checked on, you know, Wrex and Grunt carefully advancing with a precise strike team...ah, whom am I kidding, coming onto the field with the subtlety of a crashing plane, Jack and her students holding the line and trying some biotic artillery when some openings in the front line appear, Zaeed using his old rifle (he bought the parts!) on the cannon fodder troops, laughing in grim and joy to fight one last battle with it, Vega advancing with the Infantry, taking natural command, showing off some melee skills, Garrus taking position in an office building, taking off everything that crosses his scope, in fact ducking down once when an enemy grenade hits, reminiscing for a split second what Shepard has told him, Jarvik blazing paths of destruction through the charging shock troops, maybe with Liara at his side, EDI hacking every security protocol she can find, Kaidan/Ashley commanding their unit in precise relief strikes, Tali sending Drone after Drone, blasting away anything closer than 3 meters, and slicing several enemies from cover with her omni tool blade...you know, a big view of the battle. In the end they all join, retreating from the beam, giving the men and women time to gather and organize a line of defense, held until the real ending is finally released.

forthary wrote...

Yeah, or how about Anderson's reanimated corpse? That would be a shocker for sure. As long as it's not a mini-game like the Rannoch Reaper. Took me ten deaths until I realized it's a Space Invaders/R-Type scroller game. Anyway, how about a short renegade or so option to, maybe, shoot yourself. Through the arm or something. So the pain wakes you from the indoctrination and instead of the beam and stuff you see the illusion of a giant keeper AI, trying to get you to do its bidding. Or better yet, Tali/LI comes up through the beam, the Pathway cleared by the Shield fleet and your other comrades, and slaps you out of it? Or even shoots the main circuit so the control lessens. And then you discover the Crucible actually has the power to destroy the Citadel and the Reapers in vincinity, so general retreat until it overloads. Desperate shuttle missions getting the men and women fighting there out, and the Normandy comes to rescue you and your team, and all retreat while the Citadel is disintegrating, taking the Reapers around it with them. We just have to make it so the Citadel explosion doesn't remove, like, the atmosphere of Earth in the blast or something. Would be best if all ships used long range to blast the citadel out of Earth's orbit into more open space.

forthary wrote...

And finally, after the space fireworks and your final decisions are made, you recover, get your rewards, take ownership of legal cerberus assets, and spend your remaining years builiding that home on Rannoch and living with Tali.

I actually liked the idea of Shepard being mortally wounded, and hard CPR done to him by Doc Chakwas and EDI, whilst friends and crew stand around him, in and outside of the lab, and then he flatlines. And no resuscitation helps. They give up, and stand up, totally smashed and defeated. LI/Tali bursts forward, hugging dead Shepard, shaking him that he may not be dead, that they wanted more time. She takes off the mask and all, kissing him, begging him to wake up. And suddenly heartbeat returns and he wakes in a blast as a Cerberus implant started internal electrocution to get the heart pumping again - a backup system, maybe accidentially activated by Tali's omni tool or a last code fragment of Legion, left behind to save him when the time comes. And after the deaths are accounted for and the remains of Citadel and Reapers are pushed into the sun, the fleet gathers to hunt down every remaining reaper and wipe them out. Some of them might flee into Dark Space, leaving the galaxy aware that it could happen again if they aren't careful enough. So they build a new Citadel, create the monuments again, of the Krogan, and the Mass Relays, but also of the four fallen heroes, Ashley/Kaidan, Mordin, Legion, Thane, and in front one of Shepard, with Tali/LI in his arms, and a vigil of the whole crew. And then Shepard retires to Rannoch. House party.

The only 'cool' thing I can see about our current ending is it reminds me of Dead Space.  Have you ever seen that game?  I only saw cutscenes on youtube, and well...im not gonna lie, I don't want to play this game.  I've actually had nightmares from it, as silly as it may sound.  I've seen blood, gore and people dying before, but not in this manner.  It's...horrifyingly good.

Well, some of you who liked that sentence of mine may find this amusing -
www.onmvoice.com/play.php

As for indoc being removed and not discarded, I agree. It's one of the few things that lets me cling to hope. I must admit if EA charge for dlc to give closure to the ending, with the option for a pleasant happier ending (beachfront property a bonus) then I would in all likelihood purchase it. Sure, it could be seen as gouging money from consumers, but they are indeed a business, and I've put too much time in to ME3 especially to be put off by $10 or so, so long as it can get me closure.
