You know, I think I've developed a interesting theory.
Lately, I have been baffled as to why Tali'Zorah Vas Normandy said that, "Oh, and for the record - Still Totally Worth it." even though I had refused to become physically intimate with her before the assault on the collector base, out of fear for her safety, that she was foolishly assuming she would die for certain, and that there was a 'better way' to get physically intimate. Well, I might just have a theory that explains that, and more:
I believe that Tali'Zorah Vas Normandy became physically intimate with Shepard more than once. I have a feeling that, after the collector base assault, and before Shepard's inprisonment, Tali + Shepard decided to become physically intimiate whenever Tali was feeling better and consented with Shepard. This may also be a supporting reason as to why Tali adapted to Shepard; I believe that it would take a organic more than 2 physical encounters for them to adapt to a mate and suffer no ill side effects for them, plus I have a feeling her body acquired some form of Geth technology (Nanites possibly, not certain) that helps her immune system adapt.
If bioware decided to write out Tali's romance in great detail (Doubt it but still), I have a feeling that Shepard + Tali's romance might actually help out the quarian people as a whole; it is possible that the nanites from Tali's body are collecting data from Shepard + Tali's experience and using it to find ways for the quarian immune system to become stronger. In theory, their experiences are also through, and are not 'forced', so the information can be used accurately.
The only thing that might get in the way of the theory is currently untested: It is possible EDI may still say, "Shepard and Tali became physically intimate during their assault on the collector base", if you rejected getting physically intimate in Mass Effect 2 with her, but again, I have not had EDI intervene during my playthrough.
Overall, the theory is: There's more to Shepard + Tali than what is seen in cutsenes. And it might be doing more than strengthening the bond between the two of them. But it's possible Bioware overlooked something or a bug took place in their game.
