Hmm. I somewhat feel like playing ME2 instead of the last 2 missions of ME3 again. True, I'll miss the more time line, but I get to meet and romance Tali again.

Hmmm.

I plan to replay 1-3, cause I missed a lot of stuff, especially in 1.
Sure you can't romance her in 1, but you learn a lot of stuff and get a lot of dialogue with her. It makes it all the more rewarding when I finally can be with her in 2.

Yeah, I started replaying ME1 yesterday. You guys and very select gals gave me the power to completely reject Bioware's ending and substitute my own. So, things can start over again. And halted before the last five minutes, I guess. And to make it more...realistic, I take EDI with me to the beam, so Tali actually has a REASON to be on the Normandy. Maybe. Not sure which one, since she WAS at base camp...gah! Why, oh why, won't logic apply to the endings!!!

Yeah, guess I should replay ME1 at some point. ME2 just seems a lot more polished however so 1 feels slightly frustrating at times.

and I agree. The gameplay of ME2 was far more enjoyable. ME1 was confusing at times, and even overwhelming to a new player. Hopefully it will be better the next time around for me. (story was great, though! In both games)

At least there is no reason that she dies in the beam when you choose EDI as group member.

D'aww, I always wanted to take Urz home when I met him on Tuchanka.
Shep and Tali should definitely have a pet Varren.

You wana a pice of him - come to the Fishdog food shack.

For me, when I first started up Mass Effect, I had no idea how it was going to be. I've heard it was good and it's made by Bioware so that was good enough reason for me.

Anyway, after the events of Eden Prime, it was setting up to be a good game already for me. After going to the Citadel(which is absolutely beautiful and I'd go there in an instant if I could), I started exploring and seeing all the species that were on it. It was fascinating to see the diversity of people and I started to get hooked.

Then I met Garrus. Immediately I took a liking to him, like a friend that you haven't seen in a long time...and yet never met. It was interesting. After picking up Wrex, I enjoyed his battle-hardened nature and the way he viewed things was interesting.

Then there's meeting Tali. Immediately I was curious as to what she was or what her society was like(admittedly I was curious about every species' society but was definitely more curious about quarians). As the game goes by and Liara comes along, I'm really enjoying the experience. 90% of the time I had Tali and Garrus in my squad. The only exceptions were bringing Wrex along for big action missions like Virmire and Ilos and bringing Liara to Noveria.

After beating ME1(countless times), I felt...amazed. Beautiful game. B)

Then I start up ME2 and I'm like a kid all over again. If I wasn't emotionally invested and immersed before, I DEFINITELY was now. Extremely well written dialogue and interaction between characters, amazing immersion, all of it. Then there's the addition of romancing Tali in ME2. Best day ever when I found out.

Carry countless playthroughs into ME3 and it's the same amazing feeling with a rollercoaster of emotion. Be it happiness, sadness, love, anger, you name it, I felt it. :o

After hearing about the grim endings...I felt a little disheartened but kept going because I wanted to know what happened and was thoroughly enjoying the story. When I finished...it felt like an old close friend had suddenly disappeared without a trace. I felt...lost, somewhat. But I will hold the line, for all those who became invested in the series like I have, and especially for Talimancers around the world. Keelah Se'lai!

*downs the scotch and refills* Ahhh...

Also, sorry for the long post...had to get it off my chest. :innocent:

good read, and agree with most of the experiences. I didn't romance anyone in ME1, it just didn't feel right. I always liked Tali, and she peaked my interest. However I bought ME1 and ME2 like 2 months ago, to get prepared for ME3. So I rushed a little to get through them.
Then ME2 Tali romance came and I was totally immersed by then and was like YESSSSSSS TALI

Yeah, it's a blight on the series, destroying the galaxy and all. What person would do that. Eradicating any possible follow-ups, destroying the franchise on purpose, damaging the name of the company. They have not learned from Tali. When we got her, we were joyful. And all in all they did a good job in getting her more and more envolved. But it would never have happened if the fans hadn't urged them.

I guess drinks are in order again.

Agreed.  ME1 was good but rough, they learned a lot from ME1 when making ME2.  ME3 was also a good continuation in many ways imho.

Also the Tali pic?  I liked it and I don't really get the hate.

I accidentally romanced Ashley if that makes any sense. Just tried to be nice, then all of a sudden she's like, "I love you Shepard." Wait...when did a relationship start? I was just being nice. I declined her advances and still had a picture of her in ME2...somehow.

After romancing Tali...there was no going to anyone else, ever, for me. A bit sappy to say that but it's true. So when Ashley was talking about relationship stuff in 3 I just kept going, "Nope, sorry. No. We're done. Sorry." Etc, lol. A bit mean probably but it's...I didn't even want Ashley in the first place! :pinched: On my sentinel in 1, she started to do the same thing so I was like...yep...nuking her. It's the only way!

Hi thread, what is new with Tali today.

New? I finally mentioed that I believe her to be white-skinned, other than that, we still believe she was thought to be insignificant by the writers and it showed to the end that they disagreed with our judgment abour her. And I'm cleaning the bar to the 7th Symphony of Beethoven.

Define insignificant?

I am laughing SO HARD during this video...

And yeah, as I explained, tactically in my situation, first playthrough, I had to leave Ashley behind. I would've tried rescuing her, anyway, but the timer wouldn't let me...anyway, in the end, I'm glad she was honored and all. And hopefully her family can forgive me. I hate failing at missions where you cannot win, no matter what you do. Wish Tali had been...available. At the time.

Hmmm...a token. Ethnic sidekick. The drone name for example says it all. She wasn't part of the romance options because she was considered insignificant. When the fans disagreed - heavily - they had to change it to boost the series into the sales dreadnought it was before the endings were discovered. Tali became the one romance even partly living up to the Liara content, Ashley became unimportant, mostly because she didn't appeal to most fans. Still, the plan obviously was to get the nerdy sci-fi fans with Liara and the shooter fans with Ashley. Tali ruined their story setup, and they never understood, why the nerdy sci-fi fans would be so hard on her side. At least, that's my perspective through the bottom of this glass here. *mixes another White Russian*

Tells a lot about Bioware, anyway, that they didn't see what Tali was. They placed her far too early in the game to not make her THE damsel.

Uh, this does not match with the reality at all.

She was not a romance option because they thought people would be turned off by her mask and her chicken feet.  Fans said, we love dem hips and they made an about face, the same with Garrus well not about his hips, but basically the same thing.  For ME3, I do believe she was in a smaller role but fan support once again made them rethink the process and they gave her a bigger role in the game.

I am confused at your point though.

It's not perfect ..... It's not what we wanted ..... It's not perfect ..... It's not what we wanted ..... [/url]
But, lacking an actual in-game model, I think it's a pretty good design^_^

There is no formal consensus on what we wanted. Nor should BioWare be forced to comform to what this ambiguous we should want.

Decide on a look come hell or high water and just go with it.

Despite the criticisms of laziness or being a stock photo, it works, mainly just fix the fingers.  Done.

Somewhat related.

I've never heard this from Tali in all of the love triangle scenes I've watched.

Well, let's disect my argument as much as my tired and disappointed mind can do at this point.

Tali'Zora nar Rayya is a name reminiscent of Romania or Hungary, the accent was supposed to be "Gypsy", as stated in her only interview we could find. Thus me saying she was taken to bring ethnicity into the crew, since none of the humans are, and most aliens speak, as Yahtzee Croshaw has stated repeatedly, varieties of American accents. In my feeble point of view, that makes her a variety, so that people wouldn't see it as too one-sided a game. Calling it a "gypsy" accent is of course not something I as a producer would like to hear, or say, since that's basically an insult. Sinti and Roma have it hard enough as it is around these parts, especially nowadays. But anyway, not digressing.

Tali'Zorah was in my humble opinion designed to be a sidekick. Some things point to that - "Go for the optics", for example, is straight from one of the most laughable companions you can pick up in Baldur's Gate, Minsc, and his "giant space hamster". Her drone is named Chiktikka vas Paus, a reference to Baldur's Gate II, Chiktikka Fastpaws, a sentient giant raccoon and companion of a gnome forest deity. Aerie worships that deity, a "caring, needy and naive" person. Not saying that Tali is anything like it, but we DO meet her first as a damsel in distress, help her complete her pilgrimage, and otherwise have her as some sort of...as I said, token. In Mass Effect I she is definitely not made out to be any significant compared to the other squadmates, she is basically picked up along the way. The fact that it was changed in Mass Effect 2 is a result of the fans going crazy about her. Her personality changes, too. She gives orders, clearly states what there is to do, leads a strike team, threatens Garrus with her shotgun. She grows up, her naive damsel image is completely gone. She trusts Shepard, but doubts his siding, and strongly expresses against Cerberus to the very end. She shows brilliance and sees herself very confident. The fact that it fits the canon - since she completed her pilgrimage and all, a sign of "growing up" - was a lucky break. I believe we would've met her as the Admiral's daughter on a ship if the fans hadn't petitioned for her so strongly.

And I agree, they thought mask, feet, that would throw people off. They should've hired a worse Voice Actress then, Ash Sroka made magic with Tali, and that, I guess, made her so strong. But Tali never was about looks, anyway. Ashley's looks threw ME off, to be honest, and her personality didn't match. Tali's, even back then, was nice and something I would've explored, despite the lack of effort into her design at that state, especially compared to Liara. But in Mass Effect 2, she was lifted a strong bit, and that change is very significant, for me, at least.

Then again, could all be the alcohol. *takes a sip* Edited for typo I found and kept.
