*grrrr* Must. Stop. Reading. News Articles. Of. Other. Developers. Siding. With. Bioware. They're all self-righteously saying "hey, that's vandalizing your own work, we're artist, you fans don't have to like our games", blah-blah. What was that developer. I need to open a personal list of people whos works I do not buy...and I should add every single writer of Mass Effect 3 to that list until we get to know who wrote that particular ending. Cause, honestly, can only have been one guy, it's all basically the same.
It's perhaps a comment on the state of the industry that a lot of people don't seem to understand what makes computer games work, that is, the player interaction. If you want to write a story free from compromise, write a book. Otherwise the gamer better damn well be at the centre of your universe. Perhaps it sounds arrogent, but games wouldn't exist without the gamer and their whole nature is to put the gamer at the centre of the univese. Somewhere along the line some developers forgot that.
This is why I'm in two minds about playing MP this weekend. I did just have one of the most fun MP games so far and it was with an engineer (sadly not Quarian, though I do love my Geth Pulse Rifle).
Tali, Tali...damn, I wish I could play through Mass Effect 3 again, but that ending makes me give it a pass. I loved the game so much, but that ending totally screwed it up for me! I have no idea why, I was warned it was ****ty...and yet, when it happened, I was just: What the hell? Nothing of all of the last ten minutes made any sense whatsoever! Space Magic, teleportation, fleeing from combat, condemning all allies to die, what the hell? And why? Why this horrid ending to such a good game? This is not a battle of righteousness, I don't want a per se good ending - I want all this nonsense explained, and I cannot come up with any explanation for it! As Tali said in the alternate Animal House ending - What Bosh'Tet wrote this crap?
I have been playing it again, but I plan to stop before the ending. The idea being that I can remind myself of the good stuff and try and forget how it ended.
I have been experimenting with taking other people on missions, though I can't actually remember who I took origionally. I've grown to like the Prothean a lot more though. Plus I sacrificed a few minor resources so I could take Tali on the maximum number of missions (a couple of the N7 ones can be done after recruiting her but you can no longer cash in the tech you find lying around by that time). I really wish I could recruit her from the off.
On a side note, I've been watching the various romances on Youtube and I've come to the conclusion that we actually did fairly well with Tali. Liara's is good as well, but she doesn't really get any more then us and a lot of her romance dialogue is only a minor change from what she says as a friend. I haven't checked out Garrus yet, but the others are pretty weak really and some of the Femshep options are abysmall. I kinda want to go back and loose Jacob on the suicide mission out of revenge for all the Femsheps out there. What a douche.
