There is something that has been running around in my mind a few times. IIRC there was a mention that we could romance returning characters who were not romanced the previous two games. If Thane was an option, I would be willing to create a single Shep just for him (again). It would be create interesting dynamics and RP possibilities.

I saw somewhere on forum, that Devs said something like in ME3 there will be not new character as LI, but if I good remember, thay also said nothing, about ME3 romances and that they will  allow us to start relationship with ME1 & ME2 LIs. It could be just ME1& ME2 NPC (i.e rumours about Joker)
To be honest I think, it would be nice idea to romance with Kaidan, Thane if we didn't romance in previous games ( even if  Im not this person...too hard to resign from Kaidan in ME1 and Thane in ME2Image IPB).

I think I would.
Thane seems to love Shepard even if she doesn't return his feeling. Liara is the only other character who seems to be the same way. It could be interesting to see what happens knowing that he loves Shepard in ME2, and for whatever reason she turns him down. Then decides to give him a chance in ME3. If we can do that I may give it a try. It's just really hard to turn down Thane.

hmm..I always had a feelings that Thane is in love with Shepard even if she offered him friendship only. I had one Shepard ( and only one) who stayed " loyal" to Kaidan ( even I dislike this term becouse I don't feel as a cheater after two years of death plus after brea up on Horizon) who was a friend of Thane...and he still called her " Siha" even I never got a " explain Siha term" conversation. While I think that " Siha" isn't a word he would use just to friend, I still have feelings that Thane is in love with my Shep...

Thane's lazy eye I mentioned earlier :
*snip*
It's weird at some moments, but he's still sexy as always :D

Oh yeah, lol. He does that in his memory lapses, eyes go all over the place like a lizard.

The puffy face though, I don't really see it? Maybe it's the lighting?

KABOOM, Thane farted.

LOOL :o

We need to tell the Normandy's cook to stop giving Thane whatever he's giving him.

And about my Shepards puffy cheeks ; I dunno. I'll replay the scene again later on and take a closer look, Maybe I'll take a picture of my Shepard before talking to him. * Nods* Yup. Then do a comparison. :D

Why do I find Thane so attractive? I try to explain it to my friends that have never played this game, or any game, and they just don't get it. He is so damn attractive but he looks so alien. Why? :P

Some fangirls wondered the same thing.

Here is what they concluded.

Amen to that!!

And as for telling people about Thane, all of my friends (with the exception of my hubby and a couple of his friends) don't game!!  So I don't even bother.

I love everything about Thane. I think he's very attractive. My husband is the only one who knows about this game, and he thinks I'm crazy. He thinks Thane is a big lizard, and doesn't understand why I love this character. I don't even bother trying to explain. He just enjoys teasing me about it.

I was thinking about this earlier, when I was searching for my cat outside, but anyways, what would everyone do if Thane did die? How would you react ? What would you feel?

I would probably have a nervous break down and buy a lot of lizard's and name them all Thane. I would hug them and kiss them and snuggle with them and buy them little suits and...
I am just kidding :P
Honestly though, I don't 'know' how I would feel or react. I've never let Thane die on any mission on my watch so I've never really felt sadness on him dying.
I have seen him die though, when my older brother was playing. Poor Thane got smashed by his table.. *tear...*
Like I said though, he's never died on my SM(s) or on any missions.

Okay, first time posting on this thread, though i have been trolling since last night (and only got three hours sleep before work, thank you everyone, lol).

I love thane, and this video is so cringe-worthy it is just hilarious. The kind of "hide-behind-your-hands-but-peak-through-your-fingers" vid that everyone just loves.

I know why all my Sheps romance Thane though. It's his philosophical leanings. They like discussing philosophy. I do too. Unfortunately i never get it in real life so i have to get my intellectual kicks from bouncing off (in a very restricted way) a bunch of ones-and-zeros.

I have to ask though: Where did that screenie come of thane's ass-grabbing? I never got that.

Is it wrong for me to feel kind of cheated?

Anyway, lack of sleep is keeping my brain from functioning properly. I'll post something more intellectual and coherent later.

Nice meeting you all! :)

Welcome mythlover20

Sorry about the lack of sleep.
The ass grabbing came from 51ha. She got it using her flycam during the kissing scene. Some of us were wondering where Thane's hands were, and she gladly showed us.

I'm not sure how I would react either. There hasn't really been anything in either ME1 or 2 that made me sad. Maybe the end of Overlord. I thougt that was a sad, but that's it.
If it is written well, and because I love Thane than I probably would be sad. I don't know if I'd cry, but I would definitely be sad.
If it's badly written then I'm going to be more than a little angry. Upset that he is dead, and that they couldn't even do a good job writting it.

If Thane dies I'd probably cry but as JECWSU says, it would have to be well done, unfortunately I think it would be very hard for Bioware to give the death of any active LI the power it deserves aside from one scene.
If he *always* dies I'll cry with frustration.

I would definitely cry, either in frustration or, hopefuly, with some real emotion. It will all depend on the writing, and how well they pull it off.

This is Bioware, of course, and normally the writing would not be something to cause concern, but after Dragon Age 2 (which I loved, don't get me wrong, but it was definately WAY below their usual standard (Thanks EA)) I am preparing myself for the worst.

Yeah, a little pessimistic. I'm pretty sure that after the DA2 backlash due to the bad story as well as the other issues (I'm sure I don't need to mention the repeating dungeons and cave systems, but I will anyway) Bioware would have paid more attention to the story, but this way I will be happy when it turns out good, rather than sad if it doesn't. Works for me.

If LI's from previous games have the chance of beginning a new romance in ME3 then I will definately have a playthrough to have my Shepard start romancing him in ME3. Will be nice from a roleplay perspective, and, although it is a system intended for those new to the series, it will be cool to see those extra 'mancing lines!

Welcome mythlover! Ava beat me to explaining where the ass-grabbing screenie is from. Courtesy of 51ha (as are many things in this thread!)

I quite liked DA2, but the style is more repetitive than most Bioware games. However, there wasn't a single companion in DA2 that I disliked. I thought I would dislike Isabela, but it turned out I loved her!

Thane dying would definately be an emotional scene. I hope that if they have squadmate deaths in ME3 (optional, of course) that they will handle them a lot better than they did on the SM. In ME2, Shepard didn't even say anything for most of the squadmates deaths. I understand that they had a mission, but it seemed like the whole game was focussed on the characters and their personality. But if they died, there was no reaction to it at all. No basis for an emotional death.

So if it happens in ME3, let's hope it is handled a lot better. Of course with Thane, only as the result of the choice. I don't want a compulsory death.

If Thane died I would scream a series of unladylike expletives at my computer in every language I know, followed by repetitive smashing of either mouse or controller. Then, I would get on the interned and do a search to see what I messed up and, if need be. metagame all the way from ME1 to make sure he survives.

Emotionally, I do not know what my reaction would be.

I do not particularly cherish the idea that his death (or any other squad member for that matter) could be mandatory and scripted into the game. No choice, unlike Virmire, would seriously diminish replayability for me.

If it is scripted into the game, I will be sad and I will get over it and play the game a million times more. If there is a choice, I'll figure out how to go back and keep him alive. I wish for him to have a cure or life prolonging option, but I fear it will weaken the story if it comes down to a choice.

I just think I wish there were more moments for Shepard to not have control on every, tiny, god damn thing. It's great to have choices, but sometimes the antagonist throws things at heroes that are unexpected and uncontrollable. It's the realistic side of me talking here.

What first attracted me to Thane was his spirituality. After he jumped from the vent, assassinated Nassana's guards then her only to gently lay her down and immediately begin to pray. I loved how Shepard assumed he was praying for Nassana but he clarified his actions by saying not for her but for him. The moment I knew, that I liked him was while he was praying, the sunlight glinted off of is shoulders and bathed him in soft golden hues.

The duality of Thane is what intrigues me. How he sees his capabilities, who he is and what he is. How he can be an assassin, but also a father and romantic interest to Shepard. How he compartmentalzes who he is but it never seems forced, never wrong but its just who he is.

If Thane dies I know I will cry. I cried at his love letter. His death would be tragic for me. Yet, even in that sadness, I would be happy to know I had the opportunity to experience his character. I would be sad his life ended but I would be grateful to know he was created.

Perhaps that is too humanistic. I don't care. For me, I know what I will experience and not be ashamed to be me, inspite of everything.

Is it March yet? XD
