As much as I love Thane, I do enjoy quite a few of the other LI's and their romance pathways in ME2 as well. More specifically, Garrus, Tali and Jack. (I do seem to be a sucker for the aliens.)

But even though I will have playthroughs for each of these (and another who is waiting for Joker hopefull!) Thane still has my favourite romance arc. A new facet is opened up within his character when you chat with him and hold hands across the table.

I can understand that this is a reason why people who don't romance can't appreciate his character as much. But there are some who still like him as a 'bro' and not just an LI.

I've actually done the Garrus and Tali romance. I've also done the Liara romance with MShepard.  Sometimes it's hard for me because I get a little bored playing MShep . I have wanted to try Jack's romance because I heard it was very good. I may give it a try on my next playthrough.

It's definitely good. My first ME2 Shep did her romance. I'm just about done with my second Thane file, and now I have to decide which to do next... A female Shep for Garrus or a male one for Tali or.... maybe my Liara loyal one...

I had a Thane romance save but I somehow deleted it, I going to make a new one but with a no-romance Shepard. He's my fave romance after Kaidan.

Kaidan was the only LI I went for in ME1. Used to take him on all my missions. But I felt that Bioware messed up on his character in ME2. Horizon was in character for Ash, but not for Kaidan I felt.

But I guess they did that purposefully to pave the way for Shepard to have the LIs in ME2.

Maybe it's just me, but on my main playthroughs on ME2, I would prefer to have a single Shepard be with Thane than someone who had a history in ME1. I know they technically broke up on Horizon, but I still didn't feel that it was fair. Obviously Kaidan still had feelings for Shepard, and of course Thane confesses that he loves Shepard. So I didn't like playing either of them along like that, did anyone else do the same?

Another Atton fan! Yaaayy! What is it with Bioware and lovably snarky pilots eh?

I'm sorry but Atton was created by Obsidian. Just gotta say it cause I love Obsidian despite their tendency to make super glitchy games, their stories are awesome.

As for me, Kaidan's just a big sweet heart too and is pretty attractive looking. I guess he's just not as, I dunno, classy as Thane? Kaidan's more like the guy next door.

I think Jacob's romance is a bit glitched in the beginning, thus why femShep sounds like she wants to rape him there on the table. He's the only romance that is just normal. It's not angst and drama filled. It's just a normal, leveled relationship and he even has the own mind to dump Shepard if she tries to make it a drama fest. I like the normal.

Garrus I'm never going to touch again, way to awkward and off the wall for me. I love his character otherwise. Unless of course his romance gets awesome in ME3, which I'll just dig up my save that I did to experiment with his relationship.

Thane will always be my favorite out of the four.

Well er five, but Liara is bleh to me.

Thats why with my new FemShep will be a no romance from ME1, I couldnt do it with Thane. I want her to be commited to him. If you talk about previous LI's, it maye be different but you can't. (which is surprising with Garrus/Tali)

Due to his circumstances but I may with do a "cheat" Shep with Garrus, but in RL I couldnt do it and my shep's always are basically me in choices. Another reason why I've never done a renegade PT.

Nope..I took Horizon as a " broke up" scene with Kaidan, and in every talks with a crew ( Kelly, Joker) Shepards said that's the past. It just Devs lazines/failure that there's no chance for clearing up things between Kaidan/Shep before she start new relationship...Or just " bad" Devs way to build " tense" or " drama" in ME3. I said many times here on forum, that there should be a chance to resolve situation between Shepard and VS LI in game, something similar to LotSB ( Liara). I just hope, I will be able to officially " broke up" with Kaidan as soon as possible in ME3 ( preferable  in a turtorial mission or something).

I still have love for Kaidan, and one loyal plathrough for him. I think most people know that Horizon was designed to get people to move on to the new LI's, but I wouldn't say it completely worked. Most people still have at least one loyal playthrough. I also have one playthrough where my  FShep left him for Thane. I'm curious about these consequences, and it could make for some good drama. For my Shepard that left Kaidan I look at horizon for her as a breakup. She decided to move on. Thane had a previous relationship, and so did she. That Shepard was never really in love with Kaidan. She cared about him, but it wasn't love for her. At least not yet, and when she died whatever they could have been ended. For the one that stayed loyal she is just hoping to fix things with him in ME3, and get her happy ending . For the rest of my shepards they are single. I wanted Thane to have his own FeShep with no attachments.

I never imported any of my saves with Kaidan as my LI from ME1 (partly because they were lost!), but I liked that my FemShep was free to explore new options with Thane.  Kaidan always felt like the default romance to me because Liara was such a good friend to my Shep (so no romantic interest).

I did one playthrough where I romanced Garrus and it just was weird.  I didn't really like the dialogues, the push for him "figuring out how to do this" and the general awkwardness.

And @ZG - it took all of my strength but my last PT I was full on renegade - it was DAMN hard but I did it.  Just to see if I couldImage IPB

I wish I could look at it from that perspective RGC. But no, it is single playthroughs if I am doing a 'main playthrough' romance with an ME2 character.

Of course LT! KotOR 1 was Bioware, then Obsidian took over with #2 *slaps self*

Love that comic! I wish we could have an option to be a snarky Shepard, like how you can play a snarky Hawke in DA2.

I have one completed PT which is my canon, all of my ME1 saves are with Kaidan romanced, so I'm going to start up a no romance PT. I tried using the comic but miss all of the references and NPC's from ME1. So with that single PT I will romance Thane, and another romance no-one for either Vega/Joker.

I did romance Garrus but I didn't find it very romantic, just seemed odd. I love him though!

I tried to start a renegade game but couldnt get past eden prime! LOLZ

I change my alignment usually according to which squaddie (if any) I am 'mancing. I tend to go with paragade with Thane. His career isn't particularly the embodiment of a paragon, but it is only because he 'has nothing else to do.' Killing is something that has been honed into him for almost his entire life. However, he has good intentions. When freelancing, he killed those who deserved it, one way or another.

I really liked Garrus' romance, I really felt it was believable and genuine, despite all the complications. It could have been awful, but I felt Bioware did incredibly well with him.

Well, I think, that the biggest problem with Horizon/Kaidan lies in my own personality..I will never be with someone who can't trust me, and is leaving me in a middle of trouble with stupid advices ( and yes, I know Im terrible personImage IPB)..So in a game I was angry, that the person who "loved" my Shepard, slept with her, fight alongside, called her a traitor, and couldn't trust her . In this same, Chakwas, Joker, Tali and Garrus joined Shepard in a mission. How Kaidan was able to turn off and go away with a knowledge, that Shepard have to work with enemies alone, without someone near, she can trust? " Just be carefull"..yeah thanks Kaidan for nice advice..she really would be able to fight against  Cerberus alone...
While Im able to forgive harsh words and work with Kaidan again in ME3 Im not able to continue romance with him and can't trust him as a partner anymore ( while I still trust, that he will do everything to help Shepard to defeat the Reapers).

Hope, that I don't hurt any Kaidan fans here...I like his character, but I have a little different point of view about Horizon and Kaidan&Shep future.

I just think that Horizon was written badly, I can see how it was more plausible for Ash, but I didn't like how their lines were interchangable. Shepard wasn't particularly helpful on Horizon either though. But it looks like Bioware will redeem how they did that scene in ME3, and I am really looking forward to that.

I think I will be one of those who will be watching the Kaidan/Thane confrontation on youtube though. I wouldn't want to do that to either of them, and I have a tendency to put a lot of my own character into my Shepards.

The fact that the VS's lines were interchangeable didn't bother me, to be honest. I happen to believe that Ashley/Kaidan has every right to get upset at Shep, and that kind of dialogue is no less than what I would expect, so it makes sense to me. The main issue is Shepard. I really, really didn't like Shepard's dialogue in that scene.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what's going to happen with my Shep who's loyal to Kaidan, I hope she can forgive him but he better be doing some serious grovelling because he was totally out of line on Horizon.
I don't see any of my Thanemancing Sheps, even those who had a thing with Kaidan, going back to him. I find it quite easy to rp a shep who was not that mad about Kaidan, while I do like the romance, for me it is lacking in depth in comparison to Thane.

Me too!  And I definitely am not going to replay ME1 just to import a Kaidan romance to see any type of confrontation (sorry ME1 fans, but that stupid rover driving all over annoyed me to no end!).
And I try to play any protagonist as myself - what would I do?  what would I say?  what would I think?

And I agree that Horizon was definitely not written well - it was far too blase for my taste.  Shep's been dead for 2 years and he's worried about where she works?  I'm thinking of the "love of my life" showed up after 2 years dead there'd be less thinking and more action Image IPB (thinking would come later!)

It was so annoying, I meant to delete another and picked the wrong one, just started a new Shep in ME1 for Thane, colonist/akuze survivor. :wizard:

Also I don't know if Joker is an LI but I just want to be safe and have a Shep ready if so...

Obviously I don't want to derail the thread about Kaidan but I just looked at both sides, basically people act stupid when they are upset. Thats my reason for his behaviour...

I wouldnt like to see Thane angry, or would he be even sexier?

You are right, it's so unbelieveable that Shepard would not have challenged the VS further and tried to make them understand.  They were right to be upset, but it's the walking away that bothers me.  They weren't prepared to listen and Shepard wasn't prepared to fight...ahhhhhhh so frustrating!

Honestly, I can't image any " confrontation" scene between Kaidan & Thane right now..Both characters seems to be calm and mature enough to not start fight over Shepard..Plus it's thing between Kaidan & Shepard and I want to resolve it myself.
I think, that we will have a chance to talk with VS and clear things early in game. Probably in the one of first dialogue between Shepard & ME1 LI. Maybe this " jealousy" scene will be able only, if we will still continue relationship with Kaidan in ME3 and not mention ME2 romances..Then, I can agree that " cheaters punishment"should be included in a game.
