Oo, drell everywhere? I think they're the most interesting-looking race in the game, asari be damned.

You know, that made me remember this article: Drawing Mass Effect 2: The creation of Thane

It was probably linked a few time already, but I can't help it :P There are many a groanworthy comment there, but it's such an entertaining read!

"So we asked all the women in the office what they liked in their aliens,
and that kind of got us going off a lot of weird directions in the
beginning..."

"...and we were thinking maybe Thane was like the perfect man. Maybe he had
like this mannequin head, but he had this slight fuzz of hair, almost
like a baby..."

"...then the women around the office found out about this, and they were
like, ‘you guys get hot blue aliens, and we get a guy with a fish head.’
They were getting upset already, so we knew he had to be handsome."

Edit:  Uh. Top. Hmm.... Oh, haha. Found something fitting.

I love the pic of the three Drell together, Feron, Thane and Koylat. Thane looks so, amicable, content, happy. :) Feron looks like he's up to something and Kolyat looks surly. Then again, I think Kolyat is the cute kind of grouchy. :P

Aww, thank you!! :)

Okay, can someone tell me where the 'lights of a home you've never seen' comes from? I have seriously never heard it in game, and now I'm curious.

It sounds familiar...  I definately didn't get it on my latest replay, though.

I want to say the Collectors' Ship, for some reason. The first one, after Horizon. *nudges Fiery Phoenix* Is it? Is it? :P

Hmm. I haven't played through that section in a while, and when I did I usually played as Femshep Paragon.

But I THINK that if you take the non-interupt dialogue options (or the renegade ones?) when talking to Mouse on the Citadel for Thane's loyalty quest, you get dialogue that is a lot different from choosing as a Femshep Paragon.  (I did it only one playthrough as a Renegade, who was male, so I don't know if the dialogue skews differently if you play a Renegade who is female.)

One dialogue option referenced how Thane used to give Mouse chocolate and never gave it to Kolyat. I think that option shows up if you hit Mouse as a renegade.  Maybe as an interupt?  (Sorry, it's been about a very long time since I played that character.)

Another dialogue option was to bribe Mouse so that he could go to Earth; it was a regular dialogue option that did not spawn from paragon or renegade dialogue. Thane has a memory flashback when you choose that option and mentions fairy tales that Mouse's mom told Mouse as a child.

... What can I say?  I like to conversation-mine on the characters.  Takes me forever to finish a game...

I've never gotten the chocolate response as a renegade femshep; I only Thane's 'Help me, Mouse. My son is out there, in the dark' for the interrupt and the rest of the renegade stuff.

Hmm. Never got any of those as a femshep, either. Maybe it's a neutral thing. Must investigate!

For science! And dat voice.

Renegade chocolate response (...lmao, that sounds so wierd) is when you don't take the renegade trigger to knock mouse on the ground, and follow it with a renegade presuade immediately after that, threatening Mouse by saying you've made people more important than him dissapear. Mouse then will try to appeal to Thane, mentioning he used to bring him chocolate when he was a kid.

And thanks for that, Sister Helen!
That's probably why I had trouble remembering that line. It's so darn difficult not to pick blue/red responses when they are available... but those other dialog choices are really super sometimes.

Thanks Rheia <3 I will have to try that next time. It will be hard though... I love Thane's response to the renegade interrupt.

It is a little maddening how sometimes the neutral responses are better. I can't ever pick anything besides the neutral outcome for Jacob's loyalty mission, even though I know I'm missing out on renegade points.

Try it. :) I think it renegade presuade is actually my favorite out of the lot. Mouse also talks about Kolyat a bit, and the holo and how Thane's eyes used to get about when he talked about his son... it's a touching scene.

Edit: I hear you! There are quite a few occasions where I much, much prefer not to use red/blue or top/bottom options... quite a bit in Mordin's conversations, for example. Don't like taking a higher moral ground on genophage issue with him, even if Mordin's responses to that are some of his best quotes.  Jacob... while I never have a problem with 'pretty sure we can spend bullets' line, but there are quite a few instances during the mission where the middle choice plays best with my characters. Horizon VS meeting is another instance... most of the middle options there feel more natural. There are tons more, but I don't want to derail the thread :).

I want a "Renegade chocolate response!"  How awesome is that phrase?!  I have to figure out ways to insert it into conversation tomorrow at work.

Maybe if a coworker is rambling on, just shove chocolate into your mouth? :P

This....

this demands fanart. Can I call some non-sex permutation rule 34? That will ensure someone on the internet draws it.

This is from Thane's loyalty mission. When you are talking to mouse you choose the option to give him money so he can go back to Earth.

I'm still trying to get the line where he talkes about not giving his own son chocolate.

That actually had me thinking if you pick that option to give Mouse money to go back to earth. He might be there when it gets attacked in ME3. It may be something we never know, because Bioware may not even bring up mouse in ME3

I actually got that one on my last playthrough. If I recall correctly, you pick the "I'm serious" dialogue option, which is the middle right one. What I really want to know is how you get the dialogue about Earth, though I *think* it's the top right one, as I never picked that one on any of my playthrough's. Still, if anyone can confirm it for me, that would be appreciated.

Now I've got to zerg rush through my next playthrough just to get Thane's LM. Probably just as well that I'm not doing the majority of LM's in this one. >.>

...you guys, I can't get Kolyat/Oriana out of my head, and it's all your fault. *facepalm*

Oriana is awfuly cute though. Loved the pictures.

Hard to believe that Miranda would have turned out like Oriana, had Miranda lived a more "normal" life.

I can hear your evil cackle of laughter from here. XD

So, to stay somewhat on topic: Where do you think we'll meet up with Thane again? I keep thinking the Citadel, but mostly because I want a badass entrance where Shepard walks into a room full of dead Cerberus punks, sees that their necks are all snapped, and she just smirks because she totally knows what's going on, and somehow the Citadel seems appropriate for that scenario.
