I think that would be awesome. Isn't that what Bioware is going for: Awesome.

I am in favor of this scene.  It reminds me of this:



(The boarders could be seen as Thane's former in-laws, if you squint a bit, and maybe Captain Anderson could do the honors.)

Here's a question. Normally Thane has relatively short time to live so it doesn't matter and FemShep basically tries to make his last days peaceful and happy. But what if he were cured and the two of them got married. How would Koylat feel about dad's new wife and his step-mother?

How would your Shepard explain her actions? Would you even consider Koylat family? Would he? Say Thane dies of old age and now you are like Solid Snake. Old but still a bad-ass. What then? Would you stay family or drift apart?

Well IF Thane is cured, I could imagine him and Shepard possibly settling down. But as we know, both of them don't really know how to do that. Thane already said he tried once. I could see Shepard retiring from the Spectre business and spend the rest of her career training new recruits while Thane would probably keep up the Assassin business. At least he could rest easy knowing that his siha could take care of a few baddies that try to use her to get to him.

Kolyat would definitely be against the relationship. But even though he would never call Shepard "Mom", he would at least learn to accept her over time. (Or tolerate). If Thane passed away before Shepard, I'm sure mine would at least try to keep in touch with Kolyat, because by this time he might have started a family of his own.

I try not to speculate too much on Kolyat's reaction to a ThaneShep marriage because we only meet him once, in a highly-strung, emotional scene. He may be someone who's rather chill in his day to day life, or someone mature enough to understand Shepard's part in Thane's LM. That's my one issue in a lot of Kolyat-related stories; if it's done well I dig it, but a lot of people seem to just lump automatic Shepard-hate into his life, and that really might not be the case. He can be frothingly angry at his father, and be neutral on Shepard.

That being said, I doubt he'd be happy if the nupitals are announced at the beginning of, say, the game. I am seriously hoping that we see Kolyat a bit more in ME3. I feel like his attitude will change when he sees the galaxy torn by war and the lengths his father will go to protect civilisation- and him. Perspective is everything. The chance of losing his father to this, when they're trying to mend fences, may shock something into him.

Hmm, Kolyat and Shepard? I think that over time Kolyat would accept Shepard - it happens in our current society as well, widower with old (sometimes young too) kid(s) gets remarried, and the kids sometimes accept the new wife (sometimes they don't ). I don't think that Kolyat will automatically shut Shepard out, though. We really need to see more of him, like Valentia X said; maybe he is a rather nice guy in his normal life ( except the whole dad abandonment issue). Maybe he will turn out to be a little twit (though I doubt that, somehow). We can't be sure about him yet.
As for meeting Thane in ME3... I would just love it if he were there from the beginning, if he is Shepard's LI (Probably later on if he weren't.. And there's an idea; having your LI show up in the trial to defend you. ). ;_; You know, ignorant humans trying to trial Shepard and Thane wanting to make a statement and a stand against them, wanting to show them that they are wrong and that Shepard is indeed the savior of mankind.
If he won't be allowed to testify, I would like to think that he at least would want to be there with Shepard. ♥

Thane was my favorite for ME2, I'm sure he'll be my favorite for ME3. In ME1 I romanced Kaiden, but screw him, he was all about regulations and duty. Thane is about love, true love.
