Okay we know that Thane can get drunk (right?) the thing is when would he do that? Thane's largely spiritual so I don't know what his religious practices state in regards alcohol. If a situation did come up where Thane started drinking I'd imagine he could hold his liquor pretty well (or maybe he can't). Shepard could still beat Thane in a contest though. XP

If Thane did get drunk what kind of drunk do you guys think he would be? Happy or mean?

I think he could hold his liquor.

I don't think he would be a mean drunk. Maybe more happy. I don't really see him being a falling down, or dancing on tables kind of drunk. Although that would be fun to watch if he did. I can see him still trying to maintain control over his emotions, but failing if he gets drunk.

I totally see Thane losing his tightly held control to some degree. Maybe not either a happy or mean drunk. But I definitely see him being more open, emotionally, and physically. I see him slipping into solipsism, and blurting out whatever memory he is reliving. I also see him regretting it the next day.

EDIT: Top of Page :D

So it would just "loosen him up".  I see potential lulz and trouble in Thane's future.

Thane:  I can't believe I said that last night.
Shepard: *Me Gusta face*

I need to draw that scene. Image IPB

I completely agree with this. He would be even more regretful if he let some intimate detail about his relationship with Shepard slip. He probably wouldn't be able to control his solipsism very well if he's intoxicated.

This is kind of why I was wondering whether drink would affect his memory,  If it didn't the potential of blurting things out would probably be enough to put him off drinking at all.

I'd like to think that he could hold his drink and not lose control, I see him as one of those people who sits quietly, talking to individuals but not becoming the life and soul of the party and never appearing to be very drunk.  I'm sure he could drink more than Shepard, you never see Thane throwing up in Dark Star :P.

My Shepard probably wouldn't be too upset over a drunken slip of the tongue. Why should she? The WHOLE ship and Liara seem to know anyway. Which did make me go "WTF" the first time I played. The only thing lacking is the fact that they don't have complete details...or do they? How much did that "I am always listening" EDI blurt out to Joker. I knew having that in my room was a bad idea, too bad I didn't have the option to tear it out of there. But yeah, I'd get a real kick out of seeing a drunk Thane.

I really don't have a clue how Liara knows any of this since she hasn't even been on the ship. Kasumi seems to know everything that's been going on too.

A great quote. It's sad that you have to reject Thane to hear it.

Isn't it, Ava?

Another personal favorite of mine:

"When a memory feels as real as life, it is as valid as life. Thinking about a moment brings back the smell of cut grass, the warmth of another's hand on yours, the taste of another's tongue in your mouth. Wouldn't you rather lose yourself in such a memory than spend the night alone, staring at walls of metal and plastic?"

Another great quote from Thane.

I like that it seems to surpise Shepard a little that he was saying something so personal to her.

And the way Keythe voices it... Such poetic language that Thane uses. And I think these sort of references make him out to be far more experienced in the romance than any of the other LI's. In terms of love, anyway.

I think it also provides an insight into his life as a freelancer after Irikah's death. It really sounds like he was extremely lonely.

I completely agree.  He is letting Shepard into a little bit of his past when he first discusses this.  I liked how "off guard" Shep seemed to be.  And insensitive as usual - I think my Shep said something about "that was odd you just blurted that out".  I guess the Alliance never taught tact.

Shepard is very blunt when talking with Thane at times. Hehe.

Nice to see that she isn't some perfect hero without her flaws. She may have unrivalled leadership and a luck better than a leprechaun holding an 8 leafed clover, but when it comes to a serious relationship, she fumbles just like the rest of us.

Definately like how I did anyway! Hehe xD

Ah...how my heart clenches when I hear that from Thane. :crying:...

Its a pitty you have to reject him for this quote..

In a Garrus romance I was doing, even though I made it offical with Garrus, I still could reject Garrus and be with Thane, and when I...sadly...rejected Thane. I re-loaded and calling it off with Garrus.

.......Sorry Garrus....

Well, as the Shadow Broker, she does have access to way more information than anyone else in the galaxy....
Thane definitely does have some fo the best lines in the whole series.

The rejection half way through the romance is bad too. I hate it when she says she can't love a dying man. Thane seems pretty heartbroken there.

The worst rejection I've seen is Jack's. Rejecting Garrus is sad, but during Jack's I feel Shepard is just cruel to her.

That's true. However she knows about Shepard and Thane before she becomes the Shadow Broker, because if you romanced her, and leave her for Thane she says something pretty cruel to Shepard. I guess she's been checking up on you.

I would be heart broken too is some said they couldn't love me cause I was dying. And even though Shepard has a ..saddening voice too it, it dosn't change the fact that she had too put his death in that sentence. It's not Thanes fault.
But at least Thane "understands"  the reason.

Jack's is really cruel , I agree. And I hate how she just..dosn't say much when you talk with her. Like if you pick Miranda in the Jack vs Miranda battle.
I don't think BW had a heart when they were making the "rejections" :crying:

So sorry for double posting.
But I just had too share this with everyone.

At the end of breaking Dawn At the end I hear:Bruno Mars It Will Rain
So after just getting down wiping my eyes (due to crying like a little sissy) I hear the song and I instantly think of Thane, but..him dying. Sad vision I know, but the song just...made me think of it. I just had to share the song and see what you guys thought.

Maybe its just a my opinion matter, but like I said, I couldn't help but thinking of Thane at the moment.

Ok a LITTLE off topic....but, How do you guys think Kolyat will react in Mass Effect 3, when and if he finds out that the woman who punches him during Thanes loyalty mission, is now in a relationship with his father?

I think he'll be alright with it.
Probably not happy that he got punched by Shepard.
But happy that his father has "moved on" from Irkiah.

And by moved on I don't mean " OH PSH YEAH FORGET HER SHEPARD. GIMMIEKISS"
Naww.
He'll always love Irkiah, but a different love now that he's with Shepard.

I'm guessing Thane won't be too significant to this war. What can one assassin do? Who even needs assassinating? The Illusive Man? Still won't win the war with the Reapers.

He's also sick and dying. If anything, his use will be in sacrificially dying for good reason.

I'm kind of new, so I still learning the ropes on replying to certain comments and such, but here goes....
The Koylat situation (if it comes up) could be rather touchy. Some kids don't mind their parents moving on after the other dies/gets divorced/so on, and would be happy for them (mostly because they are older and are not fully dependent on the single parent), but others would be very resistant to the idea, and I can see Kolyat being a mixture of both. Probably resistant at first, since he was/is still grieving over his mother (blaming Thane for her death and then leaving him) and may think that Thane is trying to replace Irikah with Shepard. Shepard may have to "prove her worth", so to speak (besides helping him get a good job, though whether Thane or Bailey allow that information to slip is not known), and if/when she does, he will probably accept her as whatever role he comes to terms with.
As for his significance for the galaxy war, I think his role will be quite interesting. Every person that has been on Shepard's squad either has valuable information, skills, or connections/resources (or all of these) that will be invaluable for the upcoming war. Thane is no different. He may have an epic showdown with Kai Leng (who I am guessing will be a HUGE thorn in Shepard's side, at the very least) and as for potentially offing TIM, well, maybe Cerberus won't be a big problem any more and the Reapers loose a portion of their ground troops. Also, he has connections with the Hanar, and mockingly jellyfish like as they may be, I doubt that they will be useless. He also has been sick and dying for a while now and is still able to kill anything without breaking a sweat, and it would be rather insulting for his "use" in ME3 to be in death.
Also, is anyone playing Skyrim? I have a follower who keeps calling me "My Thane," and without fail it reminds me fondly of Thane :)
