I have never been a big human romancer, love me some elves and aliens apparently. Posted Image

I know it might seem strange to some people, but I feel the same way. I have always found myself liking the aliens and elves more. For some reason the humans don't hold my interest as much.

The elves and aliens just seem to be such kind, adorable, considerate, sensual badasses that could kill without breaking a sweat one minute, then sweep you off your feet for a romantic getaway the next.

I'm starting to think there might be something wrong with me... :P

I agree!
Humans in games, don't fit to my interest for some reason. I just love aliens/elfs/.. all of them:blush:
Gosh why do they have to be so romantic?! <3
Out the games you can be in a relationship with a..alien/elf , and too pick which one is most romantic, I'd say Thane:happy:
Kinda Fenris too..but I mean..he can't put his words correctly sometimes if ya know what I mean ;)

Thane is definitely the most romantic!

Now that I think about it though, Fenris kinda reminds me of a more emo/awkward Garrus. I mean, Garrus has experience, even if it was with member/s of his own species, but Fenris, as far as we know, doesn't. He's basically a virgin. His awkward fumblings with his romantic/sexual intentions towards Hawke are just so familiar and adorable. I just want to hug him.

Thane though, I want to throw against a wall and have my way with him. Then the floor, the couch, the shower, maybe finally the bed.

Maybe I'll be able to get my Shep to get him to read poetry. That would be wonderful.:)

Edit: AH! TOP! You scared me!

Wasn't sure if I should post this here, but it isn't at all dirty, though I'm not entirely sure the moderators will agree. Ah well, if it get's taken down it gets taken down.

Exactly. They have just alway been a bit more appealing to me. I always go straight for the alien. I saw Thane and I knew I was going to romance him. When I first saw Lord of the Rings Orlando Blooms character was my favorite. I forgot his name though.

Legolas! And he is my fave too, he'll be in The Hobbit. Can't wait.

On topic.

Maybe it has something to do with wanting what I can't have. Or possibly it is just that the Aliens and elves are supernatural and special. They make me happy. We can all have something wrong with us together. Posted Image

Legolas. I couldn't remembe, and I can't wait for The Hobbit either.

As for the last part of why they are appealing to me. I think it's a bit of everything that you said. They are unique and special. They can also be very facinating. What would science fiction, or fantasies be without them. Posted Image

Thane is just is one very sexy alien. He doens't even have to try hard. It's just there. At least I think so. Call me crazy, but my Shepard would do those things to him if she could. That's what fanfic is for I guess. He's also very romantic, sweet, and kind. When you first start to talk to him you can see how lonely he has been. It made me just want to hug him.Posted Image

They would be horror stories. And since they wouldn't be scary, they would be bad horror stories. So they would in actuality be mysteries without the mystery. Because for all my protestations that sci-fi, horror, and fantasy really only differenciate due to the technological level of the societies portrayed in them, take away the cultural mythologies that are relyant on said technological level (ie, aliens, space, androids for sf, ghosts goblins and vampires for horror, and elves, dragons, dwarves and fairies for fantasy), and you're left with a hollow shell of a mystery tale with none of the magic the supernatural elements provide.

Me too. I just want to comfort him and tell him everything will be alright.

But definitely without the maternal/sisterly feelings that make me want to do the same for Garrus.

I asked this too. Aparently it's the romance scene before the SM. 51ha has this flyaway cam that lets her take screenies from different angles. Aparently someone wanted to know what Thane's hands were doing, and she took this screenshot. For which I can only say, thank you!

I wish that had been in-game, but what can you do. Not even Bioware is immune from making bad decisions, lol.

People can get some really nice shots with the fly cam. I know we probably never would have known what Thane's hands were up to without it.Posted Image

It is indeed. I will always be grateful for the existence of the fantasy genres, for their tales bring richness to the world and we would all be would be infinitely poorer without it.

Yes, it even fleshes out the romance a bit. Tells us that these two are not just having some PG crush, but that they are attracted to each other in a deeper, more mature, more adult way.

Is the fly cam a pc mod?

I think the hand placement was probably there by chance or as a joke XD And yes, fly-cam is a PC mod. I'm sure you can find out more about it online, I haven't tried it myself.

I always find alien characters interesting, just because they have that much more to them.
But in Dragon Age, a lot of my favourite characters are human (Morrigan, Isabela and Sebastian are my favourites).
Guess being a different race/species doesn't affect my decisions much after all.

I think it is a pc mod, but I don't know how to get it.

Anyone who thinks Shepard and Than's realationship is a crush or just a fling hasn't been paying attention.

No they wouldn't have been. It is obvious from the dialogue. But what is happening is a physical confirmation of it.

Damn that still didn't come out right. You guys get what I mean, don't you?

It's in the romance scene itself, towards the end upon the kiss. But you can't see it without using a flycam mod.

Thanks to 51ha, who discovered this back in the old thread. One of my favourite Easter eggs, so it is in the OP as well.

Flycam is indeed a mod, and you can take screenshots by using fraps. There are some very interesting things you find out if you use flycam during the romance scenes. For example, in Garrus' scene, while Shepard is showering, the door is open and Garrus is standing just in front of her shower room Posted Image.

I think Collider made a vid called Mass Effect romance mechanics that you can youtube if you want.

Also, I commented on the posts on Keythe Farley's wall for a bit of added support without seeming to be pestering (I hope!)

Back in the day, we used to wonder where Thane's hands were during the kiss. I'm glad 51ha solved the mystery! ;)

I was thinking, if other Thane fans have Twitter, a question to Casey Hudson about the idea may help as well.

Why did I go to sleep! I missed a great conversation. XD

Me too!  Damn needing to sleep!

I am SUPER thankful for that fly-cam!  Knowing that is where his hands are is just so - perfect.  And their placement is so Thane.

As for ME1 (2 pages back), I couldn't stand it.  I played it through a couple of times, but didnt' love it.  The story was good but I HATED that rover to roam all the planets - everything seemed so much the same.
I was VERY skeptical when it came to ME2, but I was so pleasantly surprised!  It's fantastic, the story is great and the characters are even better than ME1.  That's why I'm hoping for Thane to return!  Just so well written!!

Love the picture.

I hated that Mako in ME1, and some of the planets were a little boring. I really hated Noveria. That was my least favorite mission.

I plan on doing another playthrough of ME and ME2 before March. Well, when I find the time. Posted Image

The roving planets got boring. After awhile what I would do is just plug in my iPod and just go planet to planet. Its like when you do mining in ME2. I have a friend who would do the same thing. When her xbox controller virbated she launched a probe. It worked.

The story though, thats what I love the most about ME and ME2. When I did the last playthrough of ME, that was when ME 2 was out but I wanted to play the canon male Shepard, I was so excited to get through ME just to get to Thane quicker. I am a mad woman (without a box - sorry Doctor Who reference). LOL

The only downside of having the fanbase all over the world, different time zones. The upside you meet people from different parts of the world and learn so much but it takes balance in order to keep in touch. Its worth it though! Posted Image

And for our previous topic - I can't find the creator though, and I know it's been here before, but here's to aliens and elves!!  And because the first time I read it I almost spit out my coffee I was laughing so much.

I must be in the minority as I didn't terribly mind the Mako (I realize it has its fans) OR planet scanning. (which doesn't.)
I also plan to have a ME marathon around the end of February, and to bring that Shepard into ME3 first, so all decisions will be fresh in my mind.
Concerning the LOTSB letter, after listening to Sbarge's reading of "About Horizon".....
...Great googly moogly. I'm 100% indifferent to Kaidan, but that.... wow. Amazing how something as simple as sound can make things about a billion times better.

So that would mean the LOTSB letter would cause mass swooning and squeeing. Bring it on.
