Ok I'm 80 hours into Skyrim and don't find any of the Argonians even remotely remind me of Thane - I must be the only one!!
I'm married to an Imperial guy - mostly by accident.
And as for the alien thing, I always found Thane attractive - it's those eyes I think. And then he spoke and I was a goner.
They're much more Garrus than Thane, I find. But they're lizardmen, so, hey. Veezara is the closest thing to Thane you're gonna find in Skyrim, and he's still worlds apart.
...Off topic: My dark brotherhood questline is borked, I'm one of the few who ran into the freezing in Death Incarnate, when the Night Mother says "sleep" and the screen goes black... it doesn't come back. (I suppose it's rather creepily appropriate.)
SO I DON'T KNOW WHO TO BE PISSED AT. well, I think I do, but... I'm not sure.
As for finding Thane attractive, I'm all about the voice. (well, about 70%. then it's 30% the actual character) I mean, Feron has pretty much the same face, except someone went crazy with the paint colors...and... yeah, no. If Thane had've kept the voice he had
here, while I'd still love him to pieces I'd be about half the fan I am now. I can certainly see that they intended to make a "handsome" character, and, I must admit, some shots, I just go "D'awwwwww," overall, I'm more attracted to the character than the face. He could have been a batarian and I'd still like him.
I actually don't view Thane (and Garrus, and Grunt/Wrex) as "aliens." Yes, yes, I know they ARE, but.. see, I dislike science-fiction. Love fantasy. Drell, Turians and Krogan could easily be plunked into a fantasy world and nobody would dispute that they belonged there. (well, take away their futuristic armor and guns first.) Look at Skyrim. Lizardmen. Cat people. They'd fit right in there. The only real "aliens" for me in ME are the Salarians, as they're the closest to the commonly "accepted" version of an alien. Not a fan of the Salarians. Sure, it's a horrid reason why, (I can't hate Mordin, though) but there it is.
Before you ask "if you don't like Sci-fi, why are you playing and enjoying Mass Effect?" I'll say this. While I was pretty much forced to play it initially (and at the beginning hated the setting so much, I stopped several times) I was told to "forget" it was sci-fi. Well, i tried, but couldn't, but it didn't matter. While I didn't get as enraptured by the story and characters as I did in DA:O, there was just enough of "well, I'll just see what happens next.." to eventually pull me in.
ME2 dug its claws into me in like three seconds.
And yet I still can't bear to watch anything with "Star" or "Space" in the title. I've tried. I did however watch
Santa Claus Conquers the Martians the other day...
