^Love this!

I want to see more informal moments with Thane. He seems like he would have a dry sense of humor.

Ahhh Blasto! excellent :D.

'I'd very much like to see... a desert' I always think there's a hint of humor in the way this line is delivered, not that he doesn't want to see a desert, but he must be aware that it's a bit of an unconventional destination for a human. Although if the accommodation was good I'm sure shep would be more than happy to go.

Of course this is a fan thread.  There was quite an involved discussion a few pages back concerning Kepral's.  And before that, discussion about Kolyat and how he'll handle things as they are.  Most character fan threads go from serious to silly and back again quite often.

Thane vs. Kai Leng would be beyond worth the price of admission and I'd be all over that.  Of course, knowing my Sheps they'd be all over Thane shortly after.  I love being the big guddam hero, but it'd be a nice difference for the LI to step in in some type of help-out-Shepard situation.  Doesn't even have to be on an epic scale, just something like, 'Hey, I'm here, I'm bad ass and I'm going to help you out because I love you Shep, let's do this!'.  Not necessarily spoken like that, but you get my drift.

Here's a question from the ME2 Thane thread a while back : What kind of something would your Shepard give Thane as a token of affection / symbol of friendship type thing?  What do you think Thane would get your Shepard in return?

Thanks! I have an animated one. I don't know if I want to use it. Thane Vs. The Doctor... Oh, difficult choice.

:innocent:

 I am joking. LOL
Anyway. Um. A book of poetry or philosophy for Thane. Definately. I am not sure about what he would give Shepard.

To give to Thane? Probably a book, or a book set, seeing as he enjoys reading. Just a random collection of genres. But actual book books, not data pads.

What would Thane give my Shepard? A cushion for her computer chair or new bed sheets (I see your minds spiraling into the gutter already- you pervs <3). Jane Shepard is practical in this case.

I'm pretty sure my Shepard would introduce Thane to some favorite authors of hers. (But I'm sure he would humor her if he had already read some of the books she would give him.)

And in return, Thane would give Shepard some movies. Spaghetti westerns are a guilty pleasure of hers.

My Shepard would give Thane a customised sniper rifle with an extended scope and have it perfectly fitted to how Thane holds a gun. My Thaneshep is practical, and I think Thane is too. I can see him as being romantic, but for me, their relationship is built on a mutual respect and understanding for each other.

However, as a token of friendship, she might give him a souvenir from Egypt. Some sort of ancient relic from there. I think Thane would appreciate that.

And Thane would perhaps give her a beautiful (drell) sword with elaborate carvings. Because my Thaneshep randomly does swordfighting (so I think she will kick ass with the omni-blade!)

Hm, gifts? As already mentioned, books are probably the best bet, but I'd throw in some music as well. He clearly enjoys learning, so expose him to our tunes; classical, strings, terrible 21st century pop music.

And he would have an easy time with my Shepard. Guns. Upgrades for guns. Heat sinks. Anything she can kill reapers with.

'Here, siha. I thought you might enjoy this.'

'Is this...? It is! The new phalanx sniper rifle with the upgraded triple magazine carrying capacity, heat-seeking option and all new scope! Sweetheart, you shouldn't have!'

Fade to black ensues.

I think my Shepard might be down for a new gun too, actually. A shiny new hand cannon is always appreciated.

Whoa, editing the wrong thread, dunno wtf happened.

Some really good gift ideas!  Books, guns, music, swords.  <3

For my main Shep, she'd probably get him something totally geeky, something he could maybe laugh at, like Bruce Lee vids or something with Chuck Norris.  I imagine Thane might get a kick out of old human martial arts movies. (And any chance to make Thane smile or laugh would always be the underlying goal. Must hear Thane laugh in ME3!)

Thane would probably get her tech schematics on the latest omni-gel converter or engineering docs on the Hamerhead or architechtural plans for the bio-domes on Kahje (which she'd frame and hang after studying them endlessly).

Or, he could go for simple and just show up in the Shep loft with a bow on his head.  Thane would be a great gift!

What, if any, role do you think Thane could do aboard the Normandy 3.0?  Garrus is all about the calibrations. Chakwas is all about the doctoring.  Could we get hand-to-hand training with Thane now that Shep's all about omni-blades and pistol-whippings?

Gifts are difficult. I'm not good at figuring out what people like in real life, so my femshep would probably be equally bad at it.  But hey, I'll give it a shot:

For Thane:
-Books on poetry, philosophy, or comparative religions - ones that femshep may have read and half remembered.  She'd have to read them again, to be able to discuss them.
-Some item of jewelry, perhaps an earring or necklace (something that wouldn't be too heavy or set off any alarms/etc.) with a symbol she commissioned.  Perhaps something reminiscent of that goddess he likes to pray to? or hands clasped together (one drell, one human)?  Or a symbol of hope?

For Femshep:
-a really awesome scope for her rifle.  (He knows what she likes.)

Awesome ideas all! But I love the earring bit--I forgot about his frill clips. Wonder if we'll ever see those again?

As for Thane's job on the Normandy, I'm not sure he'd have one as he may not be in the best shape. But I would love to see him and Garrus sparring hand-to-hand. I'd imagine they have completely different styles, and both would be rather competitive. I'm looking forward to how they manage squad interaction--if given the chance, those two are coming with me everywhere.

And welcome Miss Krios! I'm just a humble lurker, so you'd best aquaint yourself with everyone else

Oh, just thought of two more ideas for femshep (gifts from Thane):
-a ship model she doesn't have (maybe a volus merchant ship? or a hanar ship?)
-some of those very cool jellyfish that Liara has in her fishtank in the Shadowbroker DLC.

Feel free to throw rotten tomatoes at me, but I think that Thane's potential is kinda wasted on the Normandy. Sure, he worked well for suicide mission (his personal story reasons), but he never made an impression of being a team player in the same way that, say, Garrus or heck, even Mordin could be.

What I mean is, while I think he performed brilliantly on a squad, he never was presented with an opportunity to use his strength/skills/training to its fullest. Despite passing on a few pearls of wisdom, he isn't a true leader/mentor type. He excells at killing with finesse, but wherever Shepard goes things explode... Shepard's presence doesn't leave much room for grace.

I'm kind of looking forward to seeing what role he can play and what he can achieve outside the Normandy to further Shepard's agenda, actually. As long as it's crystal clear that he's with Shepard in spirit, anyway.

IA Rheia. If he even works in a team, it's probably better as a small team.

In my headcanon, if he and I both survive and we get The Hand of God intervention and he's cured or whatever, I like to think that he and my Shep will go on fighting baddies- he'll clear a path for her before she brings the 'splodey to the jerkasses of the universe.
